Why do we have to restrict ourselves to the false dichotomy of "multicolor section or monocolor section"? Just because cube tutor sorts them that way doesn't mean we have to. Why can't we have a third designation "playable in either color"? It allows for cards like Rakdos Cackler and demigod of revenge to both exist without horrible misclassification.

Indeed, that's my concern too - it will work well if you've got a large field to swing with...
... but then are you a) going to accidentally burn it off the table with Pyrohemia before you get anywhere? Or b) be stuck somewhere between building a red burn deck and a Goblin deck, and get neither right (i.e. draw all the Goblins and no damage, or vice-versa)?

Honestly, if you want to trigger elemental in a token-friendly way, can't go wrong with the classic goblin bombardment. It's asking you to play tokens already, is good even without the elemental, and can be really explosive. Wait until they declare blocks and then blow them out.

    Wildfire Elemental seems highly situational.
Chandra's Spitfire is already pretty situational (in my experience, there's not enough burn to trigger it super consistently), but the payoff packs a big punch. This card is asking even more of you.
    1) Have a 4 mana 3/3 in play
    2) Have at least 3 creatures out (to match the power-boost of spitfire)
    3) Want to attack with basically an alpha strike (or you're missing a lot of the ability)
    4) Have burn spells to lob at face
    5) Have the power be actually relevant (buffing a 1/1 into a 3/1 does little against a 4/4)

Seems... bad. Also, are you planning to have an army of specifically high-toughness creatures out when you activate pyrohemia? Because otherwise I doubt it will work out well for you.

  • posted a message on Elesh Norn and SBEs
My opponent controls Sower of Temptation which has taken my Oracle of Mul Daya.
I resolve Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite. What is the state of the Sower?

I control Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite enchanted with Splinter Twin I use the ability to create another Elesh Norn.
My opponent controls a 4/4 creature. Does that creature die?

Suppose I had a 2/2 creature equipped with Skullclamp. I resolve an effect on it that states "target creature gets -1/-1 and gains protection from artifacts until end of turn." Do I draw the cards or is Skullclamp considered unattached by SBE? The death and unequip actions happen simultaneously due to SBEs.

Put simply, could I use Auriok Windwalker to attach an equipment to Angelic Curator even if it were to fall off immediately? If the equipment was a Skullclamp, would I draw the cards?

  • posted a message on Casting a Copy From Exile
Reading Eye of the Storm it occurred to me that it is possible to copy a card in exile but then do nothing with it. So, if a Lightning Bolt has been exiled with Eye of the Storm, and another instant or sorcery is cast, and the owner of that instant or sorcery chooses not to cast the copied Lightning Bolt, there is a copy of Lightning Bolt just sitting in the exile zone, correct?

Now, suppose that by some mechanic instead of a copy of a Lightning Bolt sitting in exile, there was a copy of Misthollow Griffin. Would that copy just sit in exile until its owner decided to cast it?

Say I control a Platinum Angel and my opponent and I both are at 3 life. I sacrifice my Bloodfire Colossus. What is the result of the game, and why?

If I cast Vile Aggregate with Eldrazi Mimic (and no other colorless creatures) in play, what does the mimic's power and toughness become if I decide to use it's ability?

Choose a zone other than exile. If a card would enter the chosen zone this turn, exile it instead.
As dark is the absence of light, void is the absence of mana.

Whenever a spell or ability you control counters a spell an opponent controls, put a truth counter on Master of Truth.
Spells your opponents cast cost 1 more to cast for each truth counter on Master of Truth.

Landfall - Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, you may have target land you control become a 4/1 red and green Elemental creature with haste until end of turn.
Sacrifice an untapped land you control: Put a land card from your hand onto the battlefield.

  • posted a message on [[M15]] Jace, the Living Guildpact
People seem to think that if you make enough obtuse, illogical statements, that Jace will somehow be good.

    • People do not think he is unplayable simply because he is not as strong as past Jaces. We do not expect to play with another wallet-sculptor. We expect to play with a decent card.
    • This is not a card that works well with graveyards. Four mana to put one of two cards in your graveyard each turn? Have you seen Grisly Salvage or Nyx Weaver? Those are miles better, cheaper, and in better colors.
    • He has basically no board presence. A high loyalty does not save him from this. Remember when everyone thought Ajani, Caller of the Pride would be busted because his loyalty was soooooo high? Barely saw play. I don't care if he's hard to kill, I'll just ignore him.
    • People who say you can just gun for the ultimate have a hugely warped understanding of how games play out. Lots of planeswalkers have broken ults, but you don't play walkers for their ults. Three turns is actually a very long time, especially in a format with Hero's Downfall. If you could keep Jace alive for that long you could already have won the game in much better ways. Ulting Jace is a pipe dream.
    • Hiding behind "We don't know the next format!" is a bull argument. No one knows the future. Maybe Takir has a one mana card that wins the game if Jace is in your deck. The point is that the chances Jace is good come Takir are very very small.
    • Being all smug because people have been wrong before isn't an argument. For every underhyped Boros Reckoner or JtmS there are 20 Legion Loyalists, Sarkhan Vols, Aurelia's Furys, Nyxathids, Ajani CotPs, etc. etc. The list just goes on and on. Cherry-picking a few cases proves nothing, and shows only that you don't have a real argument to make.

BTW, as bad as this Jace is on turn 4, imagine drawing him on turn 7 or 8. He actually does nothing.
