Think Thrice - 1U
Instant {U}
Draw a card
Flashback 1U
Cycle - 3U
When you cycle think thrice, draw a card. It's not enough to just think anymore, you must think inside, outside, and all around the box.
IIW - Why bother? Jk. Darksteel Colossus's little sister.
Humble Sikh - W
Creature - Human Shaman {U}
As you cast ~ you may reveal an aura from your hand, if you do, ~ enters the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter.
As long as ~ is enchanted it gets +1/+1 and first strike. Ones who accept help end up defeating those who do not.
0/0
Globalization - 4
Artifact {M}
Tap an untapped creature you control: Draw a card.
At the end of your turn, target opponent gains control of Globalization. The world runs like clockwork when new ideas are shared.
IIW - Non conventional zombie
EDIT: Yes, I should probably specify untapped, good call
Fear Simulacrum - 2BB
Artifact Creature - Golem Nightmare {R}
If a creature would deal damage to ~, instead that player sacrifices it and ~ becomes a copy of that creature and is a black artifact in addition to its other types and gains this ability. The creator of the Solemn Simulacrum tried to make another... after he went mad.
2/2
Kitsune Bladebreaker2W
Creature - Fox Samurai
Bushido 1
Equipment you don't control lose all abilities.
2/2
Judgment: Akki Berserker – It’s like provoke, but different. It hits both combat phases, but doesn’t untap and really force. It’s not a great card, but has good flavor.
Omniblade Assassin2UU
Creature — Shapeshifter Ninja [R]
Ninjutsu 1U(1U, Return an unblocked attacker you control to hand: Put this card onto the battlefield from your hand tapped and attacking.)
As Omniblade Assassin enters the battlefield, if you activated its ninjutsu ability, it gains all creature types and the power and toughness of the creature returned to hand.
Creature cards in your hand that share a creature type with Everblade Assassin have ninjutsu 2U.
2/2
Oh, wait, the challenge is samurai, not ninjas. Whatever, judge this anyways please.
Akki Berserker1RR
Creature — Goblin Samurai Berserker [R]
Trample, bushido 2
At the beginning of each combat, target creature an opponent controls must attack this turn if able or block Akki Battlemaster if able. Akki Samurai battle rites have two parts; finding a generally unwilling opponent to duel, and whipping themselves into a frenzy.
1/1
Ronin Battle CryxRR
Tribal Instant — Samurai
Blocking and blocked creatures you control get +X/+X until end of turn.
IIW: Tribal. Bonus for tribal lands.
Judgment: 5 entries.. Okay. I’ll judge Samuratog – I think the flavor here is perfect, if for some reason an atog was a samurai, this would be the ability. It’s odd, because samurai normally wouldn’t want to sacrifice artifacts, so it’s an odd combination. You took atog and trained him at a samurai school. Fun.
P.S. Ching Chong Ding Dong, was hilarious!!
Sun Kin, Death's Hand - 1BBB
Legendary Creature - Zombie Samurai
Bushido 2 1BBB - Return ~ from your graveyard to the battlefield. "I am reborn again and again. I am the will of the Emperor. I am Death's Hand." 2/2
Game reference, anyone get it?
IIW: A Wedge Commander.
Judgment: This guy is strong, doesn’t seem like he is unprintably strong, but I like him a lot.
Rotting Sentinel1BB
Creature - Zombie Samurai (U)
Dredge 3
Rotting Sentinel has bushido X, where X is the number of creature cards in your graveyard. (When this blocks or becomes blocked, it gets +X/+X until end of turn.)
1/1
IIW: Giants
Judgment: I would love to see the art on this badass. Very strong! I definitely like him and would be a staple in any samurai (for fun) deck.
Dragon-Kin Fireblader2R
Creature - Dragon Samurai (U)
Bushido 1
Samurai creatures you control have "R: this creature gets +1/+0 until end of turn."
2/2
IIW: creatures with EtB effects
Judgment: You’re right… we can’t all be you. The uncommons on this challenge seem to be catching my eye the most. This guy isn’t super exciting, shows blue bushido, which is interesting. I like the flavor text.
Oboro Deftblade1UU
Creature — Moonfolk Samurai (U)
Flying
Bushido 3 "Swordplay is a fine calligraphy wrought in steel and wind."
1/1
IIW: A card designed for a psychographic you are not.
Judgment: Okay. Idk why the moonfolk above excited me more than this guy. I would just have to see the art in order to believe a samurai sword “withering” something. With the right art, I could see it. The card itself is fine.
Fallen Ronin1BB
Creature - Zombie Samurai (U)
Wither, Bushido 2 Even in undeath, the determination towards an unknown purpose gleams in its empty eyes.
2/2
Judgment: He’s kinda boring as well. I just kinda hate kithkin, the card itself is just odd. Boring flavor, but the card is fine.
Cenn's Alumni1WW
Creature - Kithkin Samurai
Bushido 2
Whenever you cast a white spell or a plains enters the battlefield under your control, you may untap Cenn's Alumni.
1/2
IIW: stuff for tempo decks
Judgment: I like this guy. He makes you pay for the bushido. I wish there woulda been a flavor text, make the card (flavor) come together from interesting, to awesome.
Quillmaster Adept2W
Creature - Bird Samurai
Flying xW: ~ gains bushido X until end of turn.
2/1
IIW: Halo (the game)
Judgment: Oh god… seems a bit too strong, hard to tell. If the let him through, then they have to sac 4, if they block him then 7. But it doesn’t trigger on attack, which makes it easier to deal with.
Ronin of Emrakul8
Creature - Eldrazi Samurai (M)
Bushido 3
Whenever Ronin of Emrakul deals combat damage, if it's attacking, defending player sacrifices that many permanents.
4/4
IIW: Don't choose me - vacation
Judgment: I like both of these abilities. Maybe make separate cards for them, this guy is busy. Unfortunately he is a rat which disqualifies you..
Nezumi Darkblade :1mana::symb::symb:
Creature - Rat Samurai (U)
Animosity for White or Green - 1 (Whenever this creature blocks or becomes blocked by a creature that is white or green, this creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn.)
Spellsafe to White or Green (This creature can't be targeted, damaged or destroyed by spells or abilities that are white or green your opponents control.)
3/1
Animosity is a try on updating Bushido to be less plane centric (they'll do). And since it can sorta emulate the creature-interaction part of Protection, I went ahead and gave it what I think should be the other half of it. (Though Fiendslayer Paladin makes it more limited.) Well, some sorta Animosity /+/ Spellsafe is how I think the Protection debacle should be solved currently.
Edit: wait, the non- in non-human was transitive? arg, oh well, I cry unclear.
IIW: metamagic
Judgment: Ha, yes, I like this. Doesn’t seem too good though. Bushido is Japanese for “way of the warrior” so Brushido must be “way of the Brush” maybe, maybe not, I don’t know much Japanese. I woulda liked to see a flavor text as a cherry on top, but I like the card.
Woodland Shinobi2GG
Creature - Brushwagg Samurai (R)
Creatures you control have Brushido 3. (Whenever a creature you control blocks or becomes blocked, it gets -3/+3 until end of turn.)
4/3
IIW: Brushido
Judgment: Yes, sure. He’s boring but I could see it.
Judgment: This guy is crossed out but I think he’s cool! I agree, it’s terrible, but really fun. I like the idea of an octopus with bushido 8 because he has 8 swords.
Tako-Bushi3UU
Creature - Octopus Samurai (R)
Bushido 8
If Tako-Bushi would deal damage to a creature whose controller controls no Islands, prevent that damage.
4/4
IIW: Colorshifted creatures.
No that's actually quite awful.
Judgment: I agree, I wish there would have been an easier way to say that. I guess I might not understand why this guy would ever be blocked. You’d have to give them a reason to block I suppose. He’s pretty cool for defending.
Ancestral Fuannokami3W
Creature - Spirit Samurai (R)
Bushido 1
Whenever Ancestral Fuannokami attacks, each creature defending player controls blocks it if able.
Prevent all combat damage that Ancestral Fuannokami would deal or be dealt. : If Ancestral Fuannokami's power is 1 or greater, it gets -1/-1 until end of turn and target attacking creature you control gets +1/+1 until end of turn.
0/4
I actually wish there was a better way to put together a creature with the flavor "OH GOD IT'S GOING TO KILL US A--what, a ghost? What the hell, guys! You let all their soldiers through!" than this. (The last ability is to actually make the bushido effect relevant by letting you transfer the boost onto other creatures, and the wording is so you can't just be like "dum de dum, paying 30 mana, dropping this guy to -26/-22...".)
IIW: Duel Decks: Elementals vs. Myr.
Judgment: Ha, this guy is cool! I get the flavor, he seems balanced yet strong! I love the flavor text.
Viashino Ronin1RR
Creature - Lizard Samurai (R)
Haste, Bushido 1
When Viashino Ronin enters the battlefield, attach all equipment you control to it. T: Viashino Ronin deals X damage to target creature or player, where X is the number of equipment attached to it. "He can wield swords with his tail? That's not fair."
1/1
IIW: An existing creature type that has not been an artifact creature yet, now as an artifact creature.
Judgment: He’s pretty boring, he is also a Fox, so disqualified. Sorry..
Bushi-bushi, the Wanderer1W
Legendary Creature - Fox Samurai Monk (R)
Exalted, bushido 2
2/1
IIW: Kill yourself
This is my first time judging in a loooooooong time. If you have a beef, I will gladly listen and possibly retract any negative statements I have made, but the decisions are final.
It's just embarrassing for everyone involved when the winning card isn't even halfway decent.
That was the opposite of nice. Pull the stick out of your ass.
Not every card needs to be better than the cards that do similar things before them. cancel is a horrible card but people play it.
Oh Watery Grave, it's just a bad underground sea...
Do you need more examples, I bet you can think of plenty on your own. As new sets come along, some boundaries are pushed and others are pulled.
My card primarily won to flavor I would believe.
I don't know if you have some sort of vendetta against me, or you weren't spanked as a child... but stop being a dick, it doesn't accomplish anything.
The Challenge was Non Human/Fox/Rat/Ogre samurai. These are all the current samurais. I just couldn't think of a better way to word it. I'll judge probably tomorrow morning.
Aaaand it's not a bad bribery, it's a different card. If you read my card and bribery, they actually say different things, and do different things, strange... My card fits the challenge well and is more fun than bribery. Plus, that flavor text was hilarious

Wow.. My bad. I read that the first few times through, then when I read through for the judging, I just didn't.
Artifact Creature - Golem Nightmare {R}

Next Challenge: An existing creature type that has not been an artifact creature yet, now as an artifact creature.
I will have them done in roughly <2 hours.
