A New and Exciting Beginning

The End of an Era

This card seems more like an aggro card that gets the way cleared for your weenies and then gets them back when the control deck finally figures out how to get rid of them. Doesn't seem like a good control card to me at all.

Also, I love the potential of this type of card. I want one that is a removal or counter in your hand and then a card draw spell in the yard. Or a fetch land of some sort that turns into some kind of spell later.

Lastly the design only looks bad if you're at an age where you hate kids on your lawn. People need to stop being upset with new card designs if they want the game to go on forever.

Inglorious Basterds is probably my favorite alternative history movie.

Happy to have all the swords but this one is definitely the weakest for abilities. The life gain can be a huge pain in the ass when racing though.

Longest book I've read is probably The Stand by Stephen King at 1,152 pages.

Inkwell does not lose the shield considering its shroud and not hexproof. It always has a shield. Frown

Excellent work! I will also be reading this in the slow parts of the work day. Congratulations for finally finishing this! I just copied it into a Word doc to look and this is 74 pages of information. Amazing job!

Yeah, Porcelain Legionnaire with a blink ability would be insanely good.

FWIW I've had decent experiences with Desecration Demon, so YMMV.

Yeah, same here. I think they were both about equal in my cube.

I'm a huge fan of Ithaca and Syracuse is slightly close by too. Enjoy living there!

Lightning Helix is the wrong comparison, fair enough, but Alms of the Vein isn't right either. It costs one less and comes on a body and has a way higher ceiling.

The comparison wasn't to say that Blood Artist = Alems of the Vein, it was to gauge the value of the Blood Artist's ability. Alms wasn't worth it even at 1 mana, so the comparison shows that you want more than 3 life steal on averrage from Blood Artist. Though this is hard to evaluate since he sometimes eats removal. I do not see the flaw of the comparison.

He can also wear equipment, chump block, get reanimated, pumped, bounced, and beyond. I would be happy with a drain of 3 if some of those other factors came into play (hint: they do all the time).

To be fair, 2 days ago, when CuberAng said "I'm not fan of Walking Ballista but you put so many arguments in its favor that now I probably need to test it, even if we play an unpowered cube" wtwlf123's response was something along the lines of "that is why I ranked it so high" which sounds a lot like him placing it at #2 so that people would consider it even if it not powerful enough to reach #2 on the list. He has since removed that part of his response so he probably saw the confusion too.

Regardless, it's still his opinion. If someone respects his opinion enough to test a card when he goes into depth about how great it is when they wouldn't if he didn't, it's still on the individual and not wtwlf for making that change. To insinuate that the driving force behind these posts is "to influence opinion on certain cards and not an actual reflection on how impactful a card will be for cube in relation to others from the same set" is insane IMO and not a healthy way to look at this or any posts that list cards as such.

Agreed. I am just saying that this whole thing probably only stemmed from some poor wording and no intentional agenda beyond "cards I think are the best deserve to be at the top of the list". Hopefully people don't really think there is some kind of conspiracy behind it. Also, its just an opinion based list on a forum. People take it all way too seriously. If someone likes how their own cube plays out or want to try cards not in this top 20, no one cares and no one is stopping them. Its crazy that anyone would care enough to get upset.

I played this card for a long time and it was one of the only 7 drops that I saw people consistently lose after they played as it didn't do a great job of catching up on the board from behind when you finally got to 7 mana. Seems very powerful but still anticlimactic when played.

Die Hard is a classic but my pick has to be Aliens. Such a beautiful and scary badass movie. Runners up are Big Trouble in Little China and The Thing if that counts as an action movie.

We have been a fan of the card so far. Burn is always welcome and it does cool stuff beyond that.

I like Tempt with Vengeance more than Collective Defiance but I am not sure I would if I wasn't heavy into token decks.

Cultivate = Kodama's Reach > Farseek > Search for Tomorrow. I don't play either Search or Farseek at 545 so I don't think they are necessary at 405.
