So Winged Sliver is completely worthless now?

Its still an actual sliver and not one of the abominations, so no.

The direction of the game has funamentally changed since the original ravnica. The game has been made simpler because it makes more money. I understand where this "classic" thing comes from and it is the wrong word for it but its gone. If it ever comes back I will be incredibly happy.

Wouldn't that enchantment suddenly be several times more fun is if it was "when x comes into play and at the begining of your upkeep" I doubt it would suddenly become broken and it would probably be a lot more fun.

I actually found the golgari deck was winning more of the games. 5-1 for golgari. I suppose I did get some crap draws ut my opponent knew dredge. Doesn't matter what card advantage or synergy the izzet deck has if they have both the creature killing imp and keep dredging discard until your hand is neutered or getting that one guy who can basically empty a hand in one turn. Theres also very few ways to deal with the opposing deck's fat. There are what, 4 spells that can take care of something with a toughness higher than 2? 2 of them are just bounce and there isn't enough counter to take advantage of that (I never had the scepter at the same time as an instant due to his disacard the few times I drew it). pow 10 trampling lifelink guy, various creatures with high touchness, there just isn't anything I can do. Not sure how others are losing with the golgari deck. My one win was when he didn't draw any fat or discard. Second game was close but as soon as the fat and creature kill spells got rid of the slime I couldn't get back in. I did have some manaflooding in 3 of the games too I suppose.

What's unreasonable about expecting 4x of each combination's dual land + force of will and Pernicious Deed? Those make perfect sense for a $20 precon.

Yeah, people are going to be disappointed for these reasons. I hope the rest of us will be happy by the reasonable decklist that they give us. The last few have been mediocre at best, but I still have high hopes for this one. (Heck, Niv Mizzet alone makes it worth it to me).

why do people in every thread make these horrible strawmans about what people are asking for. Its more annoying than the people who complain at all.

Also this is funny cause I just rebuild my U/R and B/G EDH decks. Heres hoping they come with some nice stuff and that whole "new mythic" idea as I already have every R/U and G/B ravnica legendaries but lack a lot of the other cards.

demigod and figure would be mythic nowadays and not be promo material anymore =/

Everyone who complains aout these is greedy and stupid for wanting dual lands!

Except thats not it at all and everyone telling anyone disapointed is worse than anyone complaining they didn't get something as crazy as duals. The prmotional items are junk. No deckboxes, no sleeves, no promo cards no posters or playmats or candy or bracelets or anything neat that could really be called swag (If the dice were real they'd count). Tokens, fake dice, and oversized novelty cards are not good promotional material and not worth the hype and anyone screaming "BE THANKFULL YOU GET ANYTHING" just sound delusional. Its like "entitlements" all over again and I'm sick of it.

Thankfully one of the pre-releases nearby ISN'T scaling up the price for this so I can go normally but I'd much rather have mythics promos back than this twisted joke.

    Quote from Sliverthorn
You might want to think about the other effects that having those drafts had on your pre-release. I was there. I drove an hour because I had enjoyed the last tournament I played in there. I got 3 other people to drive as far as I did to check out your store. Guess what, we aren't coming back. Those drafts, while they may be fun for those that were playing in them, split your attention. My friends left after 1 round because it was already 3 hours after the event was s'posed to start. I stuck around till 9, 7 hrs after it was scheduled to start and then dropped because we'd only played 5 rounds which is ridiculous. You can't blame event size, either. All of us had played in a midnight pre-release the night before that actually had as many, if not more, players then your store's saturday event. They had it running smoothly and it never got as bogged down as the one at your store. If the business drops off, maybe it just isn't because of WotC.

I don't even understand what the heck you're talking about. If your store was slow well its their fault. My local prerelease runs smoothly and always has their sealed and draft. Too bad for you I guess, but one bad store doesn't mean all of them should suffer.

there is no draft on release here. its a seald and a draft on the pre-release and the release is another sealed, but JUST a sealed. losing the draft means only a sealed on the pre-release here since we never two two headed giant. we lose a draft and gain NOTHING.

I had to check this whole thread to see if someone made this joke:

So, if you have your creature equipped with both Lightning Greaves and these new Swiftboot Boots, which ones is it supposed to wear on its hands? It is easier to just slide your hands into the boots, I think. How are you supposed to strap that second Greave onto your second arm when at that point both of your hands would be covered? The simple flow chart should go: strap greaves onto legs; slide hands into boots.

Also, Stonehorn Dignitary will earn a cult following. That much feels like something more than a guess; cards that satisfy people so deeply almost always do. Like Circu, Dimir Lobotomist.

I think wearing two sets of boots goes into the same category of "how is that bird carrying a full set of armour, a sword, and a warhammer?"

nicol bolas' plans are like the mystery of "lost" and other such continuous story lines. They're intentionally vague and always open even when revealed so they can be milked in the future and continue to be mysterious.

Actually, the Planeswalker series is much better than these block novels. The average quality of those books is better than that of, say, Lorwyn and at least on par with some of the better novels of the past. It's these books telling the story of the block setting rather than individual planeswalkers' stories that are consistently terrible.

Maybe for lorwyn, but Kamigawa's trilogy I found to be the best so far. Nice self contained plot that still affected things in later books (like Bolas before he became what he is now). The neowalkers seem to be ruining everything.

So basically the books continue to be terrible since they switched to neo-walkers being the center of attention, consistency in fluff doesn't exist, and everyone's just retconning and making crap up as they go. I miss Kamigawa.

draw 3 cards or nail your opponent for the last 3 poison counters. Its still eh... Is the downside not bad enough to make it instant?
