I have no idea who Uwe Boll is, but apparently he is directing it.

You gotta be trolling us. Uwe Boll? The guy who directed that god-awful movie 'House of the Dead'? The guy who had one of the worst reviews from the critics that he raged and challenged the critics to a boxing match? I will not believe in such statement until official words are out.

    rofl Uwe Boll...

I'm about to explain my own encounter with DnD movie so you can skip right ahead to next paragraph. I tend to ramble on so bear with me if you care to read.

I remember when I was at a friend's house and we were deciding on which movie to rent for one lazy weekend. Just searching through the shelves with my bored eyes, I came across Dungeons and Dragons the movie. I was intrigued by this because I've been recently introduced to DnD with couple of my other friends and I was getting into it so we decided to give it a try, not knowing the cinematic horror that it comes with. Well actually it wasn't a horrible experience. The beginning sucked and it quickly became obvious that the movie was going nowhere so we just stopped watching the abominable brainchild of hollywood for the sake of decency.

That said, since DnD failed, it is highly probable that MTG movie will too fail.
Of course, I not giving those figures behind hollywood some credit.
I'm rather surprised that they are making or planning on making MTG movie because I expect that there is a LOW demand of MTG on film. Is live-action movie necessary for MTG? I'm not sure if it is a marketing campaign or hollywood is simply running out of ideas. I mean, WotC has been expanding MTG's market quite a lot for the past few years, changing the rules and keywords for 2010's newcomers and channeling MTG into media such as youtube. Also, film industry has been working for more than 100 years, they bound to run out of ideas.

But story-telling has always been part of MTG. Story wasn't its original intention but MTG is definitely designed well to fit story and gameplay mechanics together. Novel and planeswalker books are nice supplementary for people who like to saturate more towards story-telling. I've read one MTG book and I liked it but I don't LOVE it. But now on theatrical film? Its not necessary. If it is successful, it may attract more customers for WotC and definitely favors the MTG community. If it fails, the movie will decimate our community, shattering the soul of thousand fans, ripping every single fiber of hope of redemption. The humiliation will not kill MTG but lacerate it. Yeah, if it fails, it will hit hard.

So I am just barely ambivalent, slightly afraid of the negative impact. So just in case this goes bad, I devised a failsafe plan to save MTG from the impact. On the same year MTG movie is being released, I will release my movie of fantasy role-playing. Hopefully, my movie will be the most abominable film garbage ever created by mankind, insulting every race, gender and age, and strip every bits of decency so that it is nearly impossible to finish the film without the unbearable sensation on human eyes and ears. The film will cause riots and revolt across the country, which hopefully diverts people's eye away from MTG movie if it happens to be horrible. I'll go grab my Sanyo camera right now.

The last part is a joke of course.

so... its a card that can technically take all ur opponent's life with few swings and defend urself with it until u find a way to get rid of it. WIN

the opponents would laugh when they play their baneslayer angel though.. of course you should have removals ready for that !@#$

I wonder if the new jace will reduce the value of old jace... not that old jace is overpriced.

I like the old jace because he focuses more on drawing cards with a reputation of the planeswalker who has the lowest mana cost

The new jace is awesome too. He has great drawing ability as well as good control abilities to protect himself a little bit WITH A REPUTATION OF PLANESWALKER WHO HAS THE MOST ABILITIES.

Actually, I don't think I care about the price of old jace anymore lol :p

I like the abilities a lot. I guess now its just a matter of his loyalty counters requirement for the rest of those 3 abilities. I'm pretty sure that the WotC made it sure that you can play jace's final ability in turn 2 after playing him, just like 'most' of the other planeswalker.

One thing that actually annoys me is his starting loyalty counter. 3?? I'm sure Jace will ditch you as soon as he sees a lightning bolt in his face when he comes into play.

On the other irrelevant note, Is the WotC going to keep doing the slow spoiler for every upcoming set? I guess this time is much less painful than Sorin Markov's spoiler.

EDIT: WOW I guess I was completely wrong about the ultimate. It takes 5 TURNS after playing Jace to play his ultimate. 5 TURNS.
He might as well as be a planeswalker with 3 awesome abilities.

  • posted a message on What has blue got now?
They've gone far enough with anti-blue. Now with blue/black faerie out of the standard format, what are left for us are the remnants of the WotC's 'faerie' war. While faerie was on the format, it's quite obvious that WotC was trying to neutralize the over-powered tribal deck. They made Great Sable Stag, Volcanic Fallout and many other 'blue hate' cards.

With Lorywn moving out of the format, I expected some good blue cards to replace all of those faerie cards in M10. But what did we get instead? We lost Cryptic Command, Broken ambition (good counter card in my opinion), Glen Elendra Archmage, Mistbind Clique and Vendilion Clique but we got 'new' cards like Mind Control and Essence Scatter. Sphinx Ambassador is a waste of mythic slot, we won't see hive mind in competitive playing sometime soon. The only valuable blue card we got from M10 in my point of view is Time Warp.

I was hoping that there would be awesome blue card that would strengthen the blue color but I'm not overall super impressed by blue Zendikar. Yes, I love Mindbreak Trap and Spell Pierce but mono-blue is lacking some good aggro/control creatures like Mistbind Clique or Vendilion Clique. Blue seems to be a splash color now. And Zendikar has MORE blue-hate cards too!!! What's with that?! It's like they are trying to DISCOURAGE us away from playing blue. Btw, zendikar's reprint of cancel. srsly? SRSLY??????

I'm exaggerating a little bit but it is not too far from the truth. WotC is obviously scared of taking the next step for monoblue-control.

if there's two of those in play... and u have garruk.... all green creatures that comes into play would get 4 +1/+1 counters on them when they come into battlefield.... it has some cool potentials like that

rly nice combo with vampire aristocrat :p
it gets +4/+4 for each creature sacrificed while half of the boost remains after the turn. Even if it isn't on vampires, it is still playable in limited on many creatures

Although I was a little bit reluctant with her first ability at first, I now see the potential in it.

Yea, no one rly likes to discard a card from their hand but that just adds a little bit of reckless power flavor to red Smile I don't like the fact that we have to discard a RED card to deal 4 damage, but it certainly gives a definition that Zendikar will not be multicolor at all.

Hey besides, its free (besides the fact that u discard) uncounterable flame javelin. These stuff is actually powerful when it comes to the late game since ur opponent's life should be pretty low or opponents creatures get a little bit more threatening. Did I mention that it's uncounterable flame javelin per turn?

Of course, there are two more abilities to be revealed and I'm kinda excited to see what other powerful ability she might have. Could it be huge pyroclasm? Or it could be one of red's interesting mechanism which is discarding target player's hand and then draw a bunch of cards. Heck, it could even be summoning creature tokens like fire elemental with haste.
6 Mana cost is not too exciting but Chandra gets to have her second chance in this set.

    Sorin Markov :3mana::symb::symb::symb:
    Planeswalker - Sorin
+2 You gain 2 life, all your opponents lose 2 life.
-3 All your creatures get fear until end of turn.
-7 Target opponent discards his or her hand. He or she cannot draw cards for the rest of the game.

    Here's my random guess.
Considering how his mana cost is 6, I think his first two abilities won't be ±1. Like most other planeswalkers, his ultimate ability should be able to work after 1 or 2 turns. I think my guess on his final ability is cruel enough to be Nicol Bolas's rejected ability. Of course, this is just random fun guess :p

plz.... let it not be rarity nor artist this time....

  • posted a message on [Prosper] 3rd set of ZEN block to be large and semi-standalone
I suppose the last block of the Zendikar set is large in order to balance out the fact that M10 has a lot less cards than 10th Edition. I mean, M10 has total of 249 cards while 10th Edition has total of 383 cards.

Wow, I am just loving the Landfall mechanism. I only wish there was a 100% confirmation whether this card is real or fake. But the mechanic of Landfall is too credible since MaRo did mention that Zendikar's theme is based around something that was used as an individual card but not as a whole set. For now, I believe that the card is real.

Did anyone thinking about this monster with Realm Razor? OMG TOO MANY 4/4 TOKENS

I got pretty upset when I got 3 realm razors from shards but 'Landfall' just redeems its effect

I voted for artist credit because it would be completely hilarious if the next revealing features of 'YOU DECIDE!' were Artist Credit, Type Line and Rarity.:dance::rofl: (it's not like I knew WHAT EXACTLY I was voting for but, heck)

People would be so angry if it actually happens (including myself) XD :swear::argh::mad1:
