Hey I just sort of stumbled upon this thread while looking for something else and took a look at the site for a couple of minutes. One think jumped out at me and this is sort of nit-picky, but I would like to see a clearer graphical delimiter between parent and child subforums. For example, this image:

See how it's hard to see the little arrow graphic? This was confusing for me because it looked like a list of tabs rather than a forum heirarchy. I would like to see the white arrow part be lighter to contrast and make it easier to see.

I didn't know what you guys were talking about and scrolled to the bottom of the page and just froze for a few seconds wondering what was happening. Where the hell did this button go and how do I get it back?!

Hey, welcome to cubing! My first suggestion is to upload your cube to cubetutor.com. This site is designed for cubes (unlike tappedout) and will make it much easier to read your cube. Most cubes are sorted by color first, and then possibly type and mana cost. Once you have it sorted in a more common way, a lot of people would be more able to comment on your card choices and give suggestions. And as eidolon said, this should be posted in the cube list subforum.

Welcome! Hope you like our little corner of MTGS Smile

@synergy people: I'm honestly confused as to what kind of synergies people are seeing commonly in their splits. Someone mentioned always getting "a pile of cards that always work together", which seems pretty unreasonable to hope for unless we're counting "Island, Cryptic Command" as a combo. You don't have a ton of control over the split since the cards are just the top 5 of your library, so it's not a Gifts Ungiven-type thing. I think if you're using the card hoping for synergy beyond "Counterspell + Lightning Bolt is sweet synergy since one kills little things and the other stops big things" you're going to be sadly disappointed most of the time. Do your decks really have so many awesome synergies that you're going to have 2 disjoint pairs of synergistic cards among your top 5? Or is it more like with divination where your deck is full of sweet cards, so pretty much any pair of cards in your deck works well together?

Great post. I'll speak to the synergy thing because I think it's relevant. A lot of decks in cubes are highly synergistic. Pox/Braids, Reanimator, Reveillark, just to name a few. These decks have a lot of redundant synergy in them, by design. Consider the theoretical group of cards [cryptic command, island, kiki jiki, pestermite, island]. With FoF, they can split the piles into [Kiki/island/island] vs [Cryptic/Pestermite]. With Steam Augury, you get to split them into [kiki/pestermite] vs [cryptic/island/island]. In this case, the piles are clearly much better in the second case. You still get the worse pile, but on average your piles will be better due to synergies. Will every case be this clear? no. Will you get synergy in every pile? No. But on average you're getting some value from choosing the piles. And that's, I think, what people are talking about when we're discussing synergy.

I'm going to echo (echo echo) Pelakka Wurm as a great budget finisher over this guy. Pelakka Wurm is really good!

New Judge Vindicate. I think it's horrible. What do you guys think?

I mean... what blue card are you cutting for this? I don't think this card is even close to playable...

This card is a Think Tank with a mediocre ability to make guys unblockable. And occasionally (never) it turns into a creature. I think this card is terrible. Not only that, but it's a mess of a design. These abilities don't fit together nicely... it's a random assortment of blue abilities on an enchantment creature that isn't even a creature half the time. WTF?

I would go Deprive, but both are sort of bad Frown

    So ...

If this card was called 'Argusian Hydra' it would be a great card. But because its name is 'Eater of Worlds', it sucks ?

We were talking about the flavor of the card. Yes, if it was called Argusian Hydra the flavor would be slightly better.

This whole enchantment artifact thing feels forced, stupid, and pointless to me. There better be some sick payoff or this set is going to be cringe-worthy

The flavor fail for me is actually in the name. I want the Eater of Worlds to be more than a 9-mana 7/7 with a forked bolt, you know?

You know who were world eaters? Eldrazi. 10/10 indestructible annihilators. This guy? He's a limited bomb that nobody will run in their cube.

Exactly! This is why I was pushing for the fight X creatures version... at least he's eating the world. He just feels so blah to me for something that is supposed to be so badass.

Squee is so contentious! Grin No accounting for taste I guess

I agree the old flavor text is better than the new, but the new text is still good, and the horrible old art makes up the difference for me.

I didn't know about the Nabob thing though, that's pretty cool! And if the art on the old was a reasonable depiction of a Goblin Nabob, I would go with that. But the art itself is so bad! Just can't do it!

Plus, in my opinion, you want to keep fixing fairly scarce to make people fight over it and make interesting decisions between good cards for their decks and the fixing to cast them. Makes drafting more interesting.

I normally go with old border, but I also like the art much better on new Squee. Call me crazy!
