@craven: actually, i was going to post something on mtgnews.com this morning to let you know i'd be happy to turn it over when you signed up...but it appears you signed up a while ago. anyway, i'll finish this one and then they're all yours.

    @all: interesting build!

    4 akki underminer
    3 cephalid constable

So...there was this thing on mtgnews called the gmad, or group make a deck. it was fun as all heck...anyway, i thought i'd start something like that here and see how it did.

here are the rules, as made by craven:

    1. You may only post 1 different card per day (Please keep at least 10 hours in between posting cards, even if a day has passed), and you can not double post, even if a day has passed. For example, you can post "3 Mogg Fanatics," but not "1 Mogg Fanatic and 1 Mogg Maniac".
    3. Explain your card choice, even if it is obvious. Some people may not know why you chose that card.
    4. I will be posting the compiled deck list whenever I can, and will be accepting most of the cards. The only ones I won't accept are ones that don't follow the selected theme at all, or ones that didn't follow the rules.
    5. Please make sure you've read other people's card suggestions before making your own - if those cards demand a certain amount of support from the rest of the deck then don't make them useless by ruling that out!
    6. We usually make the decks T1 legal, without a sideboard (unless the one who suggested a strategy says something else). Therefore we not only follow the T1 banned/restricted list, but we also don't include the Wishes (Burning Wish, Living Wish, Golden Wish, Cunning Wish, Death Wish).
    7. Last, but not least, have fun!

The first person can post a strategy (control, aggro, etc.), an optional format (multiplayer, highlander, etc.), and color(s). A card to land ratio will be decided by me after I have seen pretty much what the deck will turn out like.
After all of the cards are done, we will start on the lands. That way we know what lands to put in, since we know what cards are in the deck.

In the GMADs, there are rules, and I ask you to follow these rules. It should not be that hard to do so, but there are always some people who think that they don't need these rules, which is something I won't tolerate. Therefore, if you don't follow the rules (and only if you're really violating them), you'll receive a warning from me. If you receive three warnings from me, I know that you are willingly posting against the rules, and then I'll ask the mods to treat your posts in the GMADs as spam! So please, don't let it come that far. The rules are not that hard, but I won't tolerate any more posts like the ones I have already mentioned.

Again: I won't kill you for some small mistakes, but I will always give you a warning for not explaining your card choice, because that would lead to two-word posts. As for lands, I ask you to post at least a whole sentence....

    Post away!

and that's all folks. get creative. Grin

  • posted a message on Quilts (casual) "Decks on a budget" help thread.
quilt!! 'sup, dog. i've jumped ship and decided to come here...i wondered where you went.

here's my deck: a monoblue budget skies. it kills control, no problem...it just needs some help against aggro decks.

    some explanation on the choices:

meloku - makes creatures. with only 16 other creatures, this guy can dramatically increase the size of your army. he rocks.

aether vial - most critters have a cc of 2. this means a charged vial = free creature at instant speed. fun with spiketails!

squelch - activated abilities are annoying. stuff like oblivion stone is really annoying. unfortunately, nasty things with nastier abilities run rampant in my meta. go get 'em, squelch!

ensnare - stops that upcoming game-ending aggro deck attack dead in its tracks. also prevents blockers the next turn when i attack.

early frost - when combined with the waters, it really slows down the biggest deck in my meta, slow-but-powerful control. nice.

anyway, it kills control decks, no problem. the problem arises when i play against aggro decks. it takes at least 4 turns without meloku to get a kill, since most of the critters have a power of 1. i can't afford more melokus, so...i need beefier creatures to win faster. preferably with a cc of 2, but no more than 3. what do y'all suggest?

duly copied from mtgnews. what do you recommend?

howdy y'all, it's everyone's favorite aggressive zombie, reporting for duty. in the next day or so, i'll transfer all of my info from mtgnews...it's a pity that site is coming apart at the seams, but it is, and i thought i ought to jump ship before...well, it sank.

so, hello! hopefully this site will be around much longer. Grin
