i'm very interested in setting up fun turn 5s.
even in type 2 (old formats obviously it'd be more gross in)
but you could turn 1 suspend this new recall, turn 2 suspend lotus (so that it goes off turn 5 with recall)...too bad wheel of fate has suspend 4 instead of 3... and then you could play lots of burn on turn 5 (heh, most of my top 8s...i'm running mountains) or whatever storm cards you want, etc. i think this set will be interesting, and i think limited (hah, even the prerelease) will be interesting and more skill intensive.
is it lame that i'm posting from my gf's computer before we go on a trip? :-P
Anyway, I don't think lackey needs to be banned, like i said, i own goblins. i know they need to be beat, so i plan according...but there are lots of ways to beat them. they are going to at least give you 2 turns to do it. Decks that use LED are the decks that might not give you a turn, so if you want to be able to deal with that, you have to run FOW. that's what i don't like about the format. not speaking for the dci saying what they should do, just saying that it would make me (and i'm only speaking for me) happy and would seem consistent with previous bannings if they were to ban the *fixed, hahahahahaha* lotus.

I was posting that I didn't want idiots to post in the hopes of preventing people from getting on here and flaming...but i was talking about people that might start posting, at that time i had no intention of that referencing you, so you can chill. i'm not saying you're running the damn FOWs to counter the led, you think i'm an idiot? i'm saying though that if you want a chance against the decks that run led, you have to run that or concede the fact that they can go off turn one and you have nothing to do unless you run FOW...that's what I'm saying,sheesh.

Yeah, it did better than it had, but people with any knowledge of the format tested against it. i beat tendrils round 2 on sunday, but lost to it round 4 at gencon. luckily i never played against salvagers. i hate LED and *wish* it would be banned b/c that would make *me* happier. i think if a person wants to play with crazy combo decks, play type 1. that's not how i look at legacy. i wish they would ban it like they banned entomb in extended prerotation (even though now it can be unbanned). i think the "it's not fun to play against and thus not healthy for the game" logic applies here. gotta go to chicago and michigan now...so i'm out of your hair in a few minutes for the weekend. :-P
actually i got 12th at legacy champs and never lost a game against goblins. my deck was 80-20 against goblins and threshold. i could have taken an ID with chang in round 8 to top 8, but his tiebreakers were bad so we played. i won game 2 but lost 1 and 3 and was kept out of top 8. goblins can be dealt with, i'd know.
also, please notice i said, "i wish they'd ban LED". I wasn't making a definitive judgment call of whether they should or not. I don't think they should ban any goblin except *maybe* lackey. i wouldn't mind if they banned lacket except that i'd kill that deck. if they ban lackey, they need a better way to deal with mongoose or ban it too. i'm not saying what they should do, just saying thoughts.
that being said, i do WISH they'd ban LED. Whether it's at the point where they should...i don't know, but i don't find it existing to be healthy at all. i don't believe it's something we should have to worry about in the Legacy Format. My personal belief is that's what Type 1 is for...that's not how I personally see legacy, but i'm not all of you.
I'm talking about flaming people. Keeping the convo as a nice (it's a card game) debate is ok...but you can do it while being nice and respectful. Also iggy pop was around before legacy champs and we all knew it (if you didn't you didn't know much about legacy)...so it didn't just break out there. you may not have known about using leyline, but you should have known about the deck. i'm fine with FOW, and I did expect more, but you shouldn't have to run it to keep LED in check, imho.

Isn't iggy pop the only deck at the legacy champs that put 2 people in the top 8. weren't there 3 decks featuring LED in the top 8. out of 8 decks, 3 were running 4 fow, 3 were running LED. I think the environment would be more diverse if we didn't have to run FOW to stop LED. I think Type 1 is more the format for that type of stuff. They banned Entomb in extended for much the same reason they should ban LED in Legacy.
Oh, ps guys, let's make sure to keep this light-hearted. I hate when we start out all nice, then some new person posts on a thread and starts being an idiot toward other members. that's my advanced plea in the hopes it doesn't turn out like most threads.
Yeah, lions eye diamond makes the format too much like type 1 in my opinion. you can still play combo without it like brain freeze decks or scepter chant...but at least it cuts out some first turn kills that frustrate many of us too much. I want to play a deck that doesn't have FOW (Force of will) in it...but I'm scared b/c I'd like to at least havea chance against a first turn kill. I shouldn't have to think like that in Legacy, if I want to think like that, I'll play Type 1....but I'm not so I shouldn't have to.
After all it was that drama that led us to move from mtgnews to here :-p
but not strictly better. it's only better if you need the cards within the next like 4 turns. i have a lot of respect for this card.
