I've used an eraser on birds of paradise and wrath of god from the world champion decks.
Besides the gold signature, they look great.
You can also scotch tape the edges and sharpie the borders. I've done this to force of wills and survival of the fittest and they look good in sleeves.
I have a few that are fairly recent and still sting.
I traded a Karakas I've had in my trade binder since around '98 for a Damnation and 2 Wurmcoil Engines. The Karakas spiked a month or so later to $90. At least the 3 cards I traded for are steadily rising.
The other happened when RtR came out. I opened a foil Deathrite Shaman in my box. I had just started playing with my wifes co-worker and he really wanted the Shaman. All he had was a foil Blood Crypt and a few random EDH things I wanted. He checked SCG prices on his phone and said Blood Crypt was $30 and the Shaman was $35. Little did I know the Shaman was sold out at $35 when he checked... I saw a post here about someone not being able to find a foil shaman anywhere. It was restocked at $60+ a few days later. I haven't seen him since. Grrr...
I do have a trade that went my way though. Back in 2002 I traded a few Anurid Brushhoppers for a CE Volcanic Island. The CE duals weren't worth much back then. It looks great in my Jhoira EDH deck now!
Last Friday I saw this...Its turn 2. Turn player plays Nykthos. He taps his Forest and Elvish Mystic for a BTE, using the mana to cast a 2nd BTE. Using the mana from the 2nd BTE he activated Nykthos, declaring green, and cast Polukronos. End turn. Opponent scoops.
Not everyone plays standard. What the hell is a BTE?
I think in the age of the internet people have a lot more choices.
We can go deep as we want in any niche we like and the common folk/ teens can be fed even more generic pop.
Rock is not dead or declining, mainstream music marketing just isn't pushing it as much. You can still find awesome new rock bands.
I have no problem if they're playing a casual game and running the counter. I have an issue when selling singles becomes secondary to the game their playing.
The paying customer shouldn't feel like an inconvenience.
I hate stores where the employees play games with the regulars.
There is a shop I used to go to that was like this. They have good prices but its like pulling teeth to get someone up to the counter then I've had the person disappear while I was going through binders. I waited a few minutes until I saw him playing his match then left.
Even if they tweek it, it'll still be monsters tied somewhat to mill, since its the only thing unique U/B can do that doesn't infringe on other colour combos and thus break colour pie.
Thats fine, there can be some mill cards in U/B but please don't blank the guild leader, maze runner and god by making them all mill related.
Meanwhile the other 9 color pairs get a card they can play outside a niche win condition.
I left after Ravnica hit. My hiatus ended with Rise of the Eldrazi. Lazav, Dimir Mastermind and Consuming Aberration are steps in the right direction for UB's mill. Make it focused on turning your opponent's spells against him or her rather than simply using deck out as a win condition.
The bad thing about this is all your mill cards are null unless you have one of these creatures in play.
Its hard to make a good deck with cards that care about different win conditions.

"This is the final podcast in my series on color philosophy. I save the most misunderstood color for last".
The paying customer shouldn't feel like an inconvenience.
I'm going to treasure my glowing evil tears forever.

Not if this is in play!

Rosewater is aware. Mission accomplished(ish).
This is already a concept. Check out Cafe Mox in Washington.

Just like RtR shocks, they'll reprint the fetch lands everyone wants. There is no way they'll have a Standard with fetches and shocks.
Zendikar was too popular not to go back to. It'll happen sooner than later.
I asked the man himself.
