I realize that it is wildly inconsistent, but think that it is a bad thing to have in the format when you can lose the game without ever having the opportunity to play your turn one land and having nothing in the format that you can do about it.
Besides the fact there are cards that let you do something about it

What was it originally for? The only thing I can come up with is new account names, but that is just silly with the way content is unlocked in league. Regardless of the reason though (I know people irl that smurf because it's fun...well guess why it's fun? same reason bots games can be) it has a negative effect on new players.
Was back for fun factor and to help new players to the game.
Would have a good time with the opposing team, teach them about the game, and right before you win (since you usually would) surrendering. Was nothing about stomping the **** out of new people.
Agreed. And Tectonic Edge was too powerful. It was more necessary at the time because of dual manlands, but if you ever played against the card you quickly realized how unfun it really is.
I'm sure most of the people who never played ARAM before they released the map and queue will eventually forget about it, but the people who had been hardcore devotees already aren't going anywhere. There will be an ARAM community.
I've been part of that community a good while now. I stopped playing anything else but ARAM long ago.
Metro was an odd case because the company went under before it shipped - it was a fire sale for it as a result - other examples of similar being Amalur and Duke Forever which were gutted in price nearly immediately because they were being fire-saled.
(And note, I'm talking GreenManGaming, GoG, Steam, etc when I'm talking in general terms - just Steam is the one I check daily - others I check weekly)
Additionally for example the Metro: Last Light price I can only see getting there with Wayback via Coupon Codes - and note PSN does Coupon Codes too - was closer to 75% without Coupon Codes unless there's some secret site I'm not aware of. (And note, PSN had Metro: LL for $45 for Preorders - 25% off)
Picked up MLL 3 days before release, I've done the same with Portal 2, Heroes of M&M 6, Dead Island, and a few others I can't remember off the top of my head. All of which were without any the use of coupons.
And yes, they're "rented" for a 15 month cost equivalent to the costs to own two of them on PC. And they're never lost if you let it lapse.
I could pick up more then two of them for that price on PC. Also they are lost till you renew.
As for "Indie" games on the Wikipedia and other lists, yes - Indie games appear on the list if you cared to actually glance at it. (i.e. Fez is on there as one such example)
I looked at the list you linked from Wikipedia and it is missing a huge amount of indie games.
And Sony has stated flat out that they "would like to make the entire old catalog available via Gaikai streaming" - so their goal is to make everything available - likely there will be some snags though.
Issue is they need to reach said goal, hopefully they will by the time I perhaps get the system which is most likely 4 years out. But seen "goals" never be reached before.
Other places are having sales that are just as killer as steam's
Don't understand why anyone would buy either without games....
Or 50% on amazon right now.
Most people at Wal-mart do not make 10-12 only the overnight/supervisors get close to 10.
Besides the fact there are cards that let you do something about it
Well that thread killed all interest I had in trying Dota2 out.
It still has it, pretty much a staple of ES games.
Not sure how it is stupid btw.

Oh and cubeworld
That was not the reason.

I disagree, was neither un-fun or "too powerful"
Thanks for pointing out you don't play EDH.
The human seems pretty damn saucy I must say.
Wha? That team comp isn't even that OP, its solid to good level.
I've been part of that community a good while now. I stopped playing anything else but ARAM long ago.
Been meaning to sell everything on my account off.
