Seems like a silly ability on a 7/7. I'd rather have a 7/7 lifelinking dude.

NINJA EDIT: ...and a 7/7 lifelinker for 7 probably would be uncommon, not rare. Blech.

you are a fool then, this guy always destroys and is non targeting. Gets past protection, shroud, insta kills baneslayer if given reach, and never has to worry about actual combat damage. If you gave him trample he would deal 7 damage everytime.

Might not be Type 2 constructed viable at the moment but he will tear apart the kitchen table.

I once heard about this mystical place where all the cards of yester-year and yester-year before that come out and play with each other

In this magical place there are many old faces but also new monsters are to be found

They called this mystical place..... Extended...... Its only a rumor though

    Total darkwolf status

A lot of people in this thread are forgetting something. The Mirrodin Game Day could determine the makeup of the last set.

Its going to be really really hard to make a full Phyrexian deck with only 20% of the set being in there group

It will certainly give Green and Red more problems but with a set focused around withering coming he still might not see play

At the end of the day he still gets removed from the game and countered but it only takes two or 3 darksteel things for him to be a menace.

The equips are still good on their own; it shouldn't be the focus of the deck, but "Plague Wind you" is always good.

Also. How is Overseer+Voltaic+Trisk not fragile? O.o

You've got two creatures (one of them starting as a 1/1) and a card that can frequently be useless outside the combo. I can see the Overseer, but the key is kinda meh.

That's why you shouldn't be playing it as aggro, not why Triskelon is bad.

Overseer is a two part combo that can be setup turn 2 without ramp. turn 3 you get yourself a 3/3 with 2 mana leftover.

I said Trisk falls to arguments B and C.

The dies to removal thing is so cliche ;p

You do get the Triskelon+collar+blade combo, right? O.o

I'd still port it to U/W though, protecting the combo is tech, and you can sideboard it out against combo. Still probably pretty casual.

Not in this case sir. Normally I agree, but people are justified in saying a creature dies to removal when they are talking about a complete argo strat with a creature that either A) requires you to spend extra resources on it (Setting up X for 1s) B) When a metagame is removal heavy C) If a card can be easily removed in a multitude of ways

This guy fall privy to 2 of the 3 arguments. Equipments normally stick around so they aren't "wasted resources" but Trisk does cost 6 mana.
You are also banking on not playing a control player which is on the rise, a player who has no creatures out when you play this guy is going to take 3 damage and then remove him and his friends.

The double equip combo is still fragile, I would much rather have the Overseer Trisk and Voltiac ported to an artifact based deck, but in any case its just more artifacts so go crazy.
I would rather see this evolve with the current set on the horizon, keeping trisk and some of these interactions but moving towards a more artifact base.

    Edit: At Flamebuster
You would take 4 mana that requires blue (or more) over 2 colorless mana? Where are the resources in this deck to support such an investment every turn? Voltiac still reigns supreme over the choices you presented. I like the snake umbra idea though

I think the major problem here is that if your opponent removes your Trisk, your deck is toast
Even for a casual deck, you are banking on one of the easiest removable creatures in the game to win.
This has failure writen all over it
Green/Black/White all have instant based direct death for your trisk, Red can burn him at any stage and Blue of course would counter him.

That said, if you can work a usable Trisk comob( something in the 2 to 3 card range) you could easily port it to a different deck currently in standard or a new deck to come.

Right now you best pieces are Trisk+ Overseer+ Voltaic so maybe devote a deck to artifacts utilizing the sphinx and some other artifact creatures like the Golem who makes opponents spells cost more (and yours but you are hopefully using only artifacts)

Enjoy your moral high ground homie, In America its part of the pay and the service person makes less based upon that fact. I don't work for Joe's Pizza either, I work for a major franchise.

At the end, your "hard earned" money is often being properly tipped to me by good honest people. They understand that the tip is part of the money and I average about 3-4 dollars a run. Many people have tipped me 5 dollars on small runs and I give them priority. I go where the money is, not where my job tells me I should go.

Anyone else complaining about what happens to your food, Don't mess with the people whom prepare your food, end of statement. This will happen at any restaurant, (high end or not) and NO there is no way to have legitimate legal ramifications placed upon the person as you will never prove it. Most food preparation is done in an open area where anyone could access (even a customer). They will mess with your food. The best you could do is shut down the restaurant, but seriously 95% of the employee's could easily find another pizza place. There are no credentials.

Edit for people not grasping this concept: ITS PART OF THE SALARY, if you want, read a pizza box you order from, some of them even tell you that tipping is part of the salary and drivers are NOT payed for with delivery charges. I am so glad i am working in a middle class area where people understand the true economics behind the world, not some Idealist picture where there money should never leave their pockets

They didn't sell, thus they were dropped. I don't know specifically what you're talking about, but I know that's exacly what happened. Pre-recession, Wizards had a lot of products with small followings and during the budget crunch, these were sacrificed so their marquee products like Magic and DnD could recieve more financial support.

Ahhh... that makes tons of sense.

It probably was just never released (i can find no records of it being out). It seemed like it could be a fun browser based game

I want to keep as much of my money as possible. That might be greedy and inconsiderate, but absurd? And you illustrate perfectly here why I don't eat/order out much, because food service is filled with miserable, passive-agressive, vindictive pieces of ☺☺☺☺ like you and me. I've dropped people's food, I've rubbed buns on solidified grease-waste, I've pissed in buckets of pickles. Hell, I stuck a jalapeno up in my cornhole once before handing it out the drive-through (btw, don't do that, it's spicy). Trust me when I say I know about how to ☺☺☺☺ with food. That sort of knowledge also gives me an edge in identifying when my food's been ☺☺☺☺ed with as well, but I'd rather just avoid the situation altogether and make my own food. I recieved no sympathy in food service, and thus I have none for food service.

I am not pessimistic in nature but I also understand how bad it can get. I don't mess with people's food, but i will deliver your food dead last and let your boxes ride in the back (where there is no restraint and they will flip and tumble). Then again i worry for people's health, I wouldn't want someone getting something from having their food tampered. I am talking more from a perspective of my fellows on the job.

You don't have to be that way when it comes to food services. Especially since you know how it is. then again avoiding does put you out of the line of fire... you know kind of like sticking your head in the ground helps ostriches.

    Quote from Xover
Lets get this out the way I am currently a Pizza Delivery Driver. I have currently delivered pizzas for Big pizza chains and independent restaurants and I find that there is a real confusion about how much you tip a Pizza Delivery dude.

    Now, when I order pizzas I go on a scale. $10 - $20 dollars = 3 buck tip. 20 to 30 = 4 Bucks tip. Every 10 bucks I go up a buck.

Some people tip 15 to 20 percent. Some people tip 10 percent.

My question is though. What do you feel the service for pizza delivery drivers deserves.

As a driver who currently works for a pizza place that delivers to 5 different cities in the San Fran bay Area (50 square miles) my car takes a beating and some times I am taking a crap ton of pizzas (like 1000 dollars worth of pizzas to big companies).

There is two companies that order from us every week, with huge orders and horrible horrible tips.

Pzifer (Viagra People) order 700 bucks in pizzas and tip 10 bucks. That is 28 18 inch pizzas each weighing close to 3 pounds (heavy as crap).

A go kart place (not going to say the name)- orders from us 4 times a week averaging 400 dollars worth of pizza about 14 18 inch pizza's double cut (16 slices) and making a profit off our pizzas by charging each person in a party 3 bucks per slice. (48 bucks per pizza they get when each one originally costs 24 bucks). They tip 5 bucks every time.

Do we, as drivers have a right to get mad at that?

Keep in mind we do have a 1.50 delivery charge to help with car upkeep (each driver gets .75 cents of the 1.50, the other .75 goes to the the pizza stores insurance they are require to have for each driver).

You get a lot from your delivery charge, I only get .60

It sucks being a driver, most people don't realize you get less than minimum wage on the road and don't realize that a trip can eat up 30 minutes of your hour (easily).

If you are tipping for pizza, always tip with the idea that you are the only delivery that hour, IE tip around the 3-4 dollar mark. Your pizza won't be on the "early" delivery list (really just a priority list) but it will always get to you and probably without anyone tampering with it.

Keep in mind the relation of your house from the Pizza shop. The further you are, the large you should tip.

Also, realize that most of your pizza drivers are A) above 18, B) have bills, C) are not the brightest bunch.
I am in college right now (hating my life as i deliver pizzas instead of doing internships) and even i fall subject to the bias that my fellow drivers have.

Heres a list of things that don't rub drivers the right way.

    A) Your kids or if you are under the age of 18, YOU
Why? These little SOBS have no clue what a tip is. If you leave them money, make it a large bill and leave explicit instructions on how to tip (SO many times i get less than a dollar from these brats). It will only hurt your pizza deliveries in later runs if they screw over the driver.

    B) Certain immigrant groups. I am going to be very specific for my area, and say that Indian people do not tip well. Now being an educated man, and a Rutgers student, I understand that Indians can be well vested in their culture and therefore might not have tipping customs in their country as they have a rigid tier system. That said, they could spare a few bucks especially given that they live in some very nice houses. Which brings me to my next point

    C) Rich people. Most of the pizza boys are middle class or lower. Now is it wrong for us to expect large tips from richer people (neighborhoods), probably. However if you tip less than 4 bucks, I am putting you on the slow list, and since most Rich people live more than 10 minutes from my store, expect to get your pizza in an hour. That said if you tip well, I will turn the 20 minute drive into a 10 minute one if i have to (one rich person always tips 12, its safe to say her pizza is always in immaculate condition, arrives on time, and is given high priority in regards to her order)

    D) Big bill, small tip. Your delivery boy is not a bank. If you break a 50 or 100 on him and give him less than 4 dollars, you are on the slow list. Especially if you order was on the cheap side (WTF are you ordering for if you only have 100s, go eat at a real restaurant).

TLDNR (i would suggest you do if you like your pizza)
In short, yes be mad, only your store's owner profits from those big deals (considering how cheap it is to make). Low tippers on high bills/long distances will have their food messed with and their deliveries take longer with less caring about what happens to the pizza (your boxes will be banged and turned upside down)

Edit: for the people whom don't tip and have some absurd reason, enjoy having many many things happen to your pizza unannounced to you. Watch the Movie Waiting if you really must know. We get less than minimum wage on the road. The best tippers (people who also work in service industries) get the best quality pizzas, get the special hookups and get notifications on deals. Remember paying your driver more and your pizza store less, they are already making a killing even if they sell it to you at half price.

Edit 2: I am appalled by some of your characters. Every reason in the world to not tip a driver. When i say less than min wage, in jersey min wage is 7.25, as i driver on the road, I make less than half of that. Thanks for being major douches, I hope your drivers give you the best "special" ingredients.

  • posted a message on [M11 Deck Design - Standard] Suicide Black
    Quote from snappyjack
Not to be a jerk who gets hung up on semantics, but I don't really know if any of these decks are what I would call 'suicide black', or if that archetype is even possible to make in current standard. To me, Sui Black is a lot more about distruption and fast mana than 'life as a resource' (although Hatred is not to be ignored Wink ). I feel like the definition of this archetype is using lotus petals and rituals to power out duress, hymns, sinkhole+smallpox, etc, until neither player has any permanents (except for your carn/sangrophage or shade, which you hope can get the job done before they find an answer). You back these with alt-cast cards like snuff out, contagion, or unmask.

I guess this is sort of a digression, but what I mean to say is that it seems like a lot of people are just stuffing all the black cards that make you pay life into a deck and calling it sui black. Imo, cards like sign in blood, dark tutelage, and ad nauseum just have no place in a suicide black deck. It should feel like you're playing all-in red.

If I wanted a suicide black deck in standard right now, I almost feel as if you'd need to be playing black-red to get it done. All the fast mana and small, efficient beaters are in red, not to mention blightning,

I feel like a core of these guys would be the closest thing to a suicide black deck you could get nowadays:

    cunning lethemancer
    blightning
    duress
    inquisition of kozilek
    scepter of fugue
    slavering nulls
    pyretic ritual
    hippie/lilliana's specter

Suicide black is a deck that runs fast low mana creatures, abuses card draw at the cost of life and wins at low life totals at the risk of losing much faster.

Suicide X is not an archetype, it changes with respect to the color.

    Quote from The Cursed
I am suprised that no one has said "Mox Cycle" yet. Maybe zero mana artifacts that sac for one color only? Am sure that's not true but I like to dream. More likely they are like the diamond cycle from Mirage. Moss Diamond and Sky Diamond and the others.

while they bear a resemblance to the diamonds (hand holding something) they don't have that whole diamond aspect down.

As for people thinking these are anything but a spell cycle, I would say there is way too much creature in these pictures which IMO would be implicit of a spell not an artifact but this is Mirrodin so the pics probably do represent some kind of spellbomb (although of a different name)
