Any idea on when/if there is an American release planned of either manga, anime or both?

Anyone know anything about an anime called "School Rumble"? Everything I'm reading on it looks funny, plus I found these screenshots from episode 12 on a site you gave me fadeblue, that just make it all the more interesting:

That person posts a card based around that flavor text, with that flavor text, and new flavor text.

    Later, rinse, repeat.

Riiight... Restrict a specific Drill Bit as opposed to the Drill.... Sweat

I love Stax/MUD, however, so I'm for no banning of either kind!

  • posted a message on [Casual] - Sneak Attack Primer
Well, I guess its about time I put something like this out, since no one else seems to want to bother. Sneak Attack is one of the most abusable cards Ive ever seen, while some may say its too slow to see play, I say its the most fun in casual youll ever see.

Well, I figured itd be easier, and more fun(this is casual after all) to simply list cards from the various colors that might fit in with the Sneak Attack build. Ill try not to list any cards that are overly expensive(P9, really old stuff, etc, etc):

Red Cards - This end is pretty simple. Funnily enough, Sneak Attacks own color offers very little to help the deck.

Lightning Bolt - Every red deck with the slots should run 4. Id recommed doing the same.

Fling - This card has some cool utilities, not the least of which is Serra Avatar/Fling. While it is a very dead card until you draw the combo, it can be that last little boost you might need.

Seething Song - A perfectly nice creature accelerator/SA accelerator. Third turn Sneak Attack and a Snuck creature aint half bad!

Pandemonium - While it can get in the way of tempo, something that multiplies damage this much deserves to see the light of day.

Gamble - This can be a risky card, but a red tutor is rare enough, but the fact that it can pull either Sneak Attack or a nice useful fatty means that you may want to consider this card.

Wheel of Fortune/Winds of Change - If you can get your hands on a Wheel, they are QUITE nice. As for the Winds, they can act as a sort of mulligan in the middle of the game, but you may end up getting nothing better, so thats a much riskier card to use.

Orcish Lumberjack. Though somewhat suicidal, the chance at a turn two SA makes this guy quite nasty in RG builds. Heck, hes basically a slightly weaker reusable Dark Ritual for RG.

Crack the Earth - Nice little card for red if you have the room. Swing, second main phase sac the guy who'd die anyways.

White Cards - White is a nice mixed color, giving you the best piece of creature removal(StP), along with tutoring power and some odd other things. White is a decent color to match up with Sneak Attack, though it isnt really solid enough to deserve a major splash.

Swords to Plowshares - As with Lightning Bolt, every deck that runs white should probably have 4 of these. They can be SBed out when fighting control, but other than that removing a creature from the game for aint so bad.

Academy Rector - The nice thing about this guy is of course his death ability(if you though it was the fact that he was a 1/2 cleric for 3, leave right now. For the rest of you, this is a very effective enchantment tutor that you really may want to consider.

Enlightened Tutor - This card is restricted by T1 lists, but is still worth a slot in most Sneak decks that can handle it, as its pretty close to simply running another Sneak Attack. I use it, and Id recommend using it to others.

Golden Wish - This card is really just a weaker non-restricted option if you dont like the Tutor. Running 4 of these and keeping 1 of your 4 Sneak Attacks in the SB means you can keep utility/hoser enchantments(Choke, Wrath of Marit Lage, the Seals, whatever), along with any artifacts you may like and fetch them at will. I dont use it as its too slow for my taste, but it could work perfectly for you.

Erase/Disenchant/Dismantling Blow/Orim's Thunder/Seal of Cleansing - All of these are really cards for a Sideboard, unless you are absolutly sure youll be facing an artifact or enchantment heavy deck. Otherwise, SB these puppies or dont use em at all.

Orim's Chant - This is a very effective staller. Theres not many situations that change whether or not you use it, its completely up

Sigil of the New Dawn - This is a very cool card, though being another 4 mana enchantment might mess up your tempo slightly. This card is nice for constantly reusing those fatties, but its up to you whether its worth the slots to do so.

Flicker - This gives you one fatty of your choice permanently for 1. Once youve attacked, cast this, and when the creature returns it is treated as a different creature and the Sneak Attack doesnt 'remember' that it was supposed to die, so it lives on.

Disenchant - Whats in a name? A Naturalize by any other name would destroy an artifact or an enchantment for a 2 mana just as well!

Blue Cards - Blues biggest strengths are of course control and discard, both of which can be used very effectively. The other fun thing blue has to offer is any of 4 ways to 'trick' Sneak Attack; Stifle, Wizard Mentor, Teferi's Veil, and Vanishing.

Counterspell - The old boy, the classic(whos for some reason not in 8th... ). In any case, if you have the mana that you can consistently produce , then this is obviously a worthy card to play.

Mana Leak/Force Spike/Daze/Dispersal Shield - These 'pay or be countered' counters are nice, a little weaker, but much more splashable. The last one is the strangest and the least likely to see play, but it is very effective at stopping a nasty bit of instant speed creature removal that could get shot at one of your Snuck creatures. Remember, the high CMC's of Snuck creatures still apply even if you dont hardcast em!

Impulse - This is, IMO, the best non-Ancestrall Recall draw option you are gonna have. Not only eating through any junk that happens to be on top of your library, it gives you the cream of the crop into your hand. Not bad for 1

Intuition/Accumulated Knowledge - The nice thing about this draw engine is that each part can be used on its own. AK gives you some draw power on its on, and makes the combo draw more powerful, and Intuition can fetch Sneak Attack in a pinch, though at the cost of two other cards(if you have a smart opponent itll probably have to be 2 more Sneak Attacks for them to give it to you).

Deep Analysis - This works well with other cards, especially if you are using Dragon Mage as one of your beaters, or if you are using Wheel of Fortune. Who cares if it gets discarded, more draw for you! Also being a common from a recent set, you may be able to get your hands on these but not other draw cards, so use em! They arent so bad!

Stifle - This is one of 4 of blues methods of abusing Sneak Attack. Because the "At end of turn, sacrifice that creature" IS a delayed trigger ability(and it only triggers the one time), it can be countered with Stifle, and you can keep your Snuck creature as though it were cast normally! Stifle also has a plethora of other uses(stops Fetchlands, Morph Triggers, Cycle Triggers, and a bajillion other things), so this may be something for you to try!(You can even Stifle Phages nasty ability if you wanna Sneak Attack her... )

Wizard Mentor - Sneak the fatty and Mentor. Attack with the creature, bounce both to hand, repeat next turn. While this does depend on two creatures, it can be fun to watch your mentor 'school' your opponent.

Teferi's Veil - Sneak a creature, attack, it phases out, and you pass the turn. Sneak Attack tries to resolve the 'sacrifice creature' clause, but its target is no longer there, so it fizzles. Next turn when the creature comes back, its yours as though hardcast!

Vanishing - The only reasons to use this card over the Veil is if you are planning on attacking with other creatures(that you dont want to phase), or if you like the fact that its slightly cheaper. Other wise, run the Veil or dont run either, up to you.

Black Cards - Black has four things to offer Sneak, making it a viable color for your deck. Reanimation, grave recursion(like Raise Dead), very nice removal, and Dark Ritual.

Diabolic Edict/Chainer's Edict - To each
his own. Instant speed or flashback, each has its own uses. All I have to say is that the power to stop anything from Morphling to Masticore for 1 is pretty nice.

Dark Ritual. Second turn Sneak Attack is not something to scoff at, and any acceleration is always nice. If you run black, run 4.

Demonic Tutor/Vampiric Tutor/Diabolic Tutor - While the first two are restricted and the third is overpriced, tutors like these are far too powerful to be overlooked.

Reanimate/Exhume/Zombify/Doomed Necromancer/Animate Dead/Shallow Grave/Dance of the Dead/Necromancy/Apprentice Necromancer - Whatever your method, reanimation + Sneak Attack = fun. This is one of the MAJOR reasons to use black with Sneak Attack.

Volrath's Stronghold - Not technically black, but only really useful for black. While this may tie up draws, if used with additional blue draws, or a fatty that can win you the game fast, this lil land can keep recurring whatever your favorite bad boy until you win, or get tired of him.

Hymn to Tourach/Duress - If you play black and can support for the Hymn but dont play these, I dont want to know you.

Cabal Therapy - A final way to use a Snuck creature, or a way to sac Academy Rector. An all around solid choice for black Sneak.

Other Removal - Black has a nice long list of creature kill at its disposal, but thats another field like burn thats much to large to cover. Be it Snuff Out or good ol Terror, if you dont like creatures and you have the space, black is the color for you.

Green Cards - Green has by far the least to offer Sneak Attack, but like every color it does have some useful things!

Llanowar Elves/Fyndhorn Elves - Mana Acceleration is very nice in Sneak, since you want to go off fast, and these guys arent as quick as Sneak Attack, but can still be quite effective(and they serve as nice guards against an enemy Diabolic Edict, should an opponent try to stop a recently snuck creature).

Tinder Wall - While I am not personally a big fan of this rather slow mana accelerator, he DOES get the job done, and serves as a decent chumper should that be needed. Useful if WW and Sligh are prevelent in your area as this may not only give you the speed boost to outrun such decks, but will give you a blocker to stop SOME of their threats.

Regrowth/Reclaim/Elven Cache - The restricted Regrowth is the best of the three, with Reclaim in 2nd and the overpriced slowed down Elven Cache in third. While not as effective as the other methods of abusing Sneak Attack, if you choose to use green you may want to consider one or more of these cards.

Greater Good - This goes hand in hand with one thing that most Sneak builds with Green have, Big Giant 6/6 or larger creatures whos only real strategy are to beat your opponents face in. While this doesnt work as well with the low power utility creatures who are fun with SA, this quick boost of draw power may be just the fine tuning your muscle end needs.

Living Wish - This one card makes green a viable buddy for Sneak Attack, turning your Sideboard in a maximum of 15 cards toolbox. Use it for utility creatures like False Prophet and Bloodfire Colossus, and be sure to keep an extra copy of your choice beaters, as its always nice to have them readily available!

Berserk - A sick power boost for many creatures, and its dying at the end of turn anyways!

Genesis - Beautifully synergystic with SA, basically a contained green Volraths Stronghold(better/worse depending on the deck's construction).

Naturalize - Whats in a name? A Disenchant by any other name would destroy an artifact or an enchantment for a 2 mana just as well!

Multicolored/Land/Artifact Cards - These oddballs of Magic always have an ace up their sleeve, and they are no different here:

Suffocating Blast/Absorb/Undermine - Multicolor SA enables these, and they are pretty decent deals!

Hull Breach - A variation on the Disenchant/Naturalize SB route should you have any good targets for them in your metagame. This is just a more devestating card, though I am personally not a fan of it.

Meddling Mage - This card is scary good in SB against combo. One thing to remember is that hes not worth using tricks to keep in play, since hes only , just hardcast him and leave the tricks for the big boys.

Safe Haven - An oldie but a goodie, a nice slow colorless method of saving creatures, meaning that even Mono-red Sneak can have a trick or two for itself.

Cold Storage - Another colorless method of 'tricking' Sneak Attack. While not as effective as its blue or black brothers, this lil artifact CAN provide mono red(or RG, RGW, or RW) builds with another sneaky Sneak Attack trick.

THE FATTIES - Heres the fun part, getting to dig out all those old, gigantic, over priced creatures that you never though youd be able to use. Im going to divide them into two catagories, upkeep cost and free, since those with upkeep cost are much harder to use tricks with, since if they are in play you need to pay their upkeep cost, or the trick was wasted.

    UPKEEP COST FATTIES:

Nicol Bolas - An entire hand discard mounted on a 7/7 flier can be a very scary thing. Because he doesnt have trample you may have to clear the airways for him, but other than that hes can be a very nasty threat.

Dragon Tyrant - Oh my god, an amazingly good way to use this guy. Because of the cheap way you get him into play, with just the to cast, and to pump, thats 20 damage right there.

Colossus of Sardia - Though weaker as an artifact, hes stronger against white protection, which has little besides the not oft played Rune and CoP: Artifact. Not a bad beat stick if decks with Story Circle are big in your area, since colorless is not a color they can pick.

Child of Gaea - 7/7 upkeep cousin of the 8/4 Silvos, the added toughness may be enough for you to deal with the upkeep cost, and worst case just dont trick him out, use him as a 1 shot 7/7 trampling regenerator for :manar:. Not bad.

    NO UPKEEP COST FATTIES:

Serra Avatar - The classic, but the lack of evasion makes this guy hard to get through..

Akroma - Shes good at everything, just please use her!!

Reya Dawnbringer might actually be able to spare some time from her role in reanimator to come help out Sneak Attack. If you manage to 'trick' her into play permanently, shes a very nice contstant way to recur those creatures lost to Sneak Attack.

Phantom Nishoba - This powerhouse can give you a decent beater(7/7 trample aint shabby), and a nice boost in life when you need it most. Great as a Wish target.

Weatherseed Treefolk/Viashino Cutthroat/Shivan Phoenix/Quicksilver Behemoth - These are all nice reusable fatties at varying levels of CC, power and rarity, and its really up to you whether you want a cheap in color reuser, an expensive flying in color, or a color intensive but well costed trampling reuser!

Avatar of Might - Big, fat, tramples, and CAN be cheaper should you be playing a fast aggro deck(which is nice, since those are the decks that SA might be too slow against). IMO hes the best non-upkeep beater if you just want to hit someone in the head with a big creature.

Silvos - An Avatar of Might with a regenerating twist(just a note, you CANNOT regenerate from saccing to SA). When tricked out he can get annoying to kill. Just a possibility.

Penumbra Wurm/Symbiotic Wurm - They reproduce, one making chump blockers and one making another fatty. They are decent choices, and are a fun couple or options for RG Sneak, as they can be hardcast in a pinch.

Dragon Mage can be a great wish target as a sort of overpriced Wheel of Fortune, or it can be maindecked to make finding new fatties easier!

Body of Jukai - Meh. A big trampler, but worthy of mention for the sizeable Soulshift, if that's your kinda thing... ;D

    SPECIALTY CREATURES:

    Crater Hellion/Havoc Demon/Bloodfire Colossus/False Prophet/Kokusho, the Evening Star/Ryusei, the Falling Star

Butcher Orgg - The ultamite creature slayer, he can be quite fun.

Yomiji, Who Bars the Way - An interesting white way to trick back as the blue trifecta does. Remember this only works once per Yomiji (unless you have further grave recursion for the Yomiji's), and only on legendary's.

Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni - Sneak Attack is likely to give you some unblocked creatures (even moreso if using some wee green guys for acceleration). Ninjitu'ing in this guy in a RGB version built around mass mana for.. Like a Llanowar Elves can be hilarious.

Godo, Bandit Warlord - Additional combat phase creatures ROCK (but watch out for tapping). Not too amazing without Samurai, great with them (though they are sub-optimal to begin with), and combo's well with non-tapping attacks (Akroma comes to mind). Legend's are dangerous.

Iname, Death Aspect - INSANELY good if going for the more Reanimator SA, but you need to be careful with creature choices. Legends are dangerous.

The Unspeakable - Duh. If you run lots of cool Arcane's, then maybe this is for you. Legends are dangerous.

Keiga, the Tidal Star - Meh control, but ok if buddy's play big boys you hate. Legends are dangerous.

Yosei, the Morning Star - If going with a slower paced deck (as RW/RWU/whatever tends to be), this lil' guy can be pretty effective stun for a turn. Legends are dangerous.

I suppose I'll start the year off right.

The question is: What is your ideal form of government?

    Include:

    Why?

    How would it work?

How would you restructure the United States(or where ever you're from) to fit this?

One stipulation: By "ideal", I also mean practical. An impractical government(eg pure anarchy) is not worth discussing. Keep the conversation to ideal AND possible. I don't want to here: "Well, I like [insert gov't here], but damned human nature makes it impossible."

Then don't say ideal. Communism IS the ideal form of government, but doesn't work.

Otherwise, I'd stick to our multi-tiered system in the US, just with tighter corruption laws

    People who say it's natural:

It's a nice arguement, ya know, until you actually look at facts. Scientists who back global warming aren't stupid. The natural warming curve can be measured, predicted, and has been. We are exceeding said curve exponentially. The temperatures in the last 30 years at the ice caps have raised nearly 3 degrees, which is more than the 2000 years before that. That's not a natural curve.

The issue is simple to me, and even if it wasn't I don't get to choose for everyone because I don't like something. Smart, qualifyed people say sentience does not begin until point X. Before point X, you are a mass of flesh with potential (yes near certain potential but still just potential) for life.

    To use old analogies...

Is metal sacred? The metals used in Apollo 11 could have just as easily been in the gun Lee Harvey Oswald (supposedly.. Wink ) shot Kennedy with. Until the object is made, it is merely a building block.

Cement could just as easily make the Statue of Liberty's foundation as it could a terrorist bunker (or a cinderblock). Materials are not created goods, thus do not hold the same abilities or rights as them.
