Only pointing out his size-to-cost totally ignores his game-breaking ability, basically missing the point of the card. Spawnwrithe was 2 power trampling for 3 mana and HAD to be rare because of that ability. You hit just once, it starts to really get out of control.

Anyway, this guy is mythic likely because of both limited and casual where said ability eats banana sandwiches. I greatly look forward to tag-teaming him with stuff like Sneak Attack, Lightning Greaves, Momentous Fall, Kiki-Jiki, et. al. And you'll never hear me complain that he'll cost a whopping $1 each.

Parallel Lives... nuts with this and Spawnwrithe and Brood Sliver...

nice little removal spell for draft, even if it is sorcery speed. Gruul is looking like a nightmare to play against in limited.

Seriously need an Insect lord. Tribal Insect needs some love with a lord, and some tribal spells. On the plus side the last few expansions have been pretty good to insects.
I will have to put a couple of these in my insect deck for sure.

Flavorwise, wouldn't an insect lord fit right in with the Golgari?

Just glad I could bring some joy and inspire creative thought in an otherwise negative and dismissive thread.

Well done, although I for one love the Big Bug. Let the spikes hate lol

I'd settle for the name CreepyCrawlers.dec

I may be showing my age a bit here, but I'd sing the jingle for that every time I played. Looks like I'm building a bug deck now.

My InsectTribal.dec (Spidey) sense is tingling.

Now THAT is a truly casual idea... do we have an insect lord yet?

Twelve pages of "wah wah wah!" and "take that back!" and "quit yer whinin!". You wanna talk boring? Try looking through all that.
-I'll take this card because it obviously kicks duskdale wurm's ass.
-Spawnwrithe is pretty cool. This guy is more sweet stuff.
-No, it won't get played in constructed that often, if at all. That said, go away and let the rest of us post in this thread. We love it.
-Oh noes! We gots another 7/7 for 7 in green at mythic with two relevant abilities! Whatever is a green player to do?
    - No haste or hexproof? That's not broken at all! UNPLAYABLE!

    Did I miss anything?

"Dies to removal", "Not as good as Thrag", "Only good in EDH/Limited", and "Waste of Mythic slot"... other than that, I think you're in good shape Rolleyes

we are mostly just multiplayer all for themselves kinda play, usually 3 player, but sometimes just 2. We break out our plane decks everyonce in a while. Not much into EDH though. But when ever someone comes and plays with us, they tend to get mad and whip out there tournament decks lol. But I digress.

Nothing wrong with that at all lol... we can still get pretty heated, but that's more because my playgroup consists of a group of competitive married couples than the decks being played. We're going to try Planechase in the near future, we tried Archenemy recently without much success.

On-topic, there IS a chance this big bug can break into standard if the rest of GTC offers up either more ramp or a slower environment, but I doubt it.

Man, for some reason after reading the forums, I always have to sit back and think about my playgroups casual

....We must really be butts of players, because our casuals are never just meh casual, ours are usually pretty fierce with all the stops pulled out, some of our casual decks border on legacy speed...so this makes me wonder if we are doing casual wrong lol.

Every playgroup is different.. my group is pretty goofy and laid back, mostly two-headed dragon and free-for-all multiplayer games.

I suppose he combos quite well with Stolen Identity. Grin

    EDH/Casual only hijinks, of course.

Casual hijinks are the best kind of hijinks. I've already got goofy decks waiting on Bugzilla here with open arms... reanimator likes him, as does Doubling Season/Parallel Lives, and my personal favorite pet deck, Proteus Staff... shenanigans abound.

Thinking competitively, it's going to need a good amount of ramp to see play. Bant MIGHT play it, considering they stall out games long enough to cast him already, but it's not really necessary. Personally I'm much more interested in casual fun with this big bug.

As far as this being Mythic, did people complain about Worldspine Wurm? What about Avenger of Zendikar? Gaea's Revenge? Vorapede? Green getting hugely-costed massive beaters isn't anything new, or anything surprising.

I'll take a couple for my Parallel Lives/Spawnwrithe/Brood Sliver multiplayer deck. Fits the deck beautifully, but that's too high a CMC to be more than a two-of.

I'm loving GTC so far, despite some of the complaints so far. It's balanced, conducive to a ton of different deck types in constructed, sets up what looks to be an insane draft enviroment, and has plenty of goofy stuff for the causal crowd as well as spikes. Which, to me, were all the best aspects of the original RAV block. Well done, WotC.

Great find... now I'm just hoping against hope that they can find a way to encode "See, we told you!" into DGM.
