those saying it'll be great in edh... wtf game are you playing? it'll die before it does anything almost every single time. its okay in a super *****ty casual build if you can get it into the yard with necrotic ooze having been out already, or maybe if you give it haste... and uh... can already swing for lethal? toughness matters decks? basically any time this thing isn't eating a wrath or removal, you've already got your edh game locked up and don't need it. basically, if you can kill me by making my life total 13, i had already lost the game. if you can't kill me after using this thing's ability, i don't care because i'll just combo out on my turn or something.
its fun and flavorful, but its not really as great in edh as you think.
Not all EDH playgroups are super competitive and push tuned decks, fun and flavorful EDH decks are a definite thing.
Well... I'm legitimately terrified of that angle holly hell o.o
I don't know, I think it's acute one.

To me, emerge is only going to be as good as the creatures it's printed on. It CAN be powerful in theory, but until I see it on some busted creature thats reliably going to come down early, i'm not too concerned. Now, if I see any effect that grants other creatures emerge, then it's time to run and hide.
Noooooooooo, my beautiful Gisela! I will never forget you.
That being said, eh sure I'll give 'em a shot. Gisela is at least still a good card even if that bastard Emrakul tentacle-raped her innocence and beauty leaving her a twisted broken shell. I've always been a sucker for lifelink.
Thanks for that, that mental image just made Brisela even MORE nightmare-inducing. That said, Kaalia likes all these new angel friends....
I really wanted an Enchantress reprint, been hoping for it ever since EMA was announced. But I kept thinking, nah, there's stuff that needs reprinted worse, it'll never happen. So I finally picked some up last week.
I have fond, fond memories of this card, as I started playing in the middle of Masques block. Still love playing it in commander, because no one EVER expects it or plays around it, and when it hits, it can be a total blowout. I've nuked an opponent's entire board and hand at once before, it's a very good feeling.
I don't buy that Sorin put Nahiri in the Helvault, yet. At this point in the story, he's a bit intimidated by he strong she's become, enough that he considers her a legitimate threat to Avacyn and himself. So, assuming he DID cram her into the 'vault, you'd think that his first thought after hearing the 'vault got broken would be, "oh crap, she's free!". Instead, he's fairly blasé about the Helvault being opened and content to let Avacyn do her work, and it's not until he sees Markov Manor that he remembers Nahiri and realizes that she's back. That strikes me not him thinking she was in a jail (that he built and monitored) and got loose, but him thinking she was dead or long gone and had somehow returned.
I think there's some viability in the "Griselbrand corrupted Avacyn" theory. As far as I can remember, Avacyn cast the Cursemute almost immediately after reappearing, and didn't stop to tell anyone what she was doing. She just shows up and lets loose with a world-altering, race-changing massive spell. Now, the people of Innistrad already see her as a savior and are apt to see her through rose-colored glasses regardless of what she does. And the immediate effects of the Cursemute all seem pretty positive (werewolves changed, demons beat back, curses lifted, etc), so the relieved populace is even LESS likely to question what she did. They're just happy she's back and things are changing.
But after that immediate relief fades, you have to wonder: what exactly WAS the Cursemute? Did she know what it's reaching and lasting effects would be? Did she just have that spell immediately loaded and ready for her release? What did she experience while IN the helvault?

Brisela is split in half and on the back of the other two. You can't actually open her.

Gonna go hang myself now...
