If you want protection from discard I suggest you use spiritual focus. It is a real house against hymn's and duress effects. You not only gain life but you get to draw a card and make their discard card disadvantage for them if they choose to play it.

Ivory mask is garbage; I'd rather play bottled cloister despite it being an artifact because it draws you extra cards which equals great things.

Spiritual Focus is pretty good Vs. Discard. Ivory Mask isn't complete garbage... It's alot more versitile than Focus or Cloister... Discard, Burn, "Slow" Combo..

I don't play with either, it was just a suggestion.

Hmm... Ivory Mask is too slow, I think... and it's very often that he's getting me on Turn 1 and 2... I think Compost in the board will really help that match up for me, I just need to get lucky in the first game.

So... Crossroads and Words of Worship I think will come out... probably 1 Runed Halo (and in my meta I would probably never name Goyf seeing as how the Fish player is the only one with Goyfs) and probably another Elephant Grass.

And yeah, he generally picks Enchantress effects... or often times he will grab Solitary or Grove if I have 2 Enchantress effects in my hand, since he knows once I get set-up it's game over for him.

Yeah Grass is never bad. In my Zoo heavy meta I run 4 Grass MB. Personally I board Words of Worship vs. Burn but it seems like thats about all its good for. And I could see how Mask is too slow. Turn 1 Rit, Seize, Hymn. Frown

Words of Worship is probably the card I use least often. I'm thinking about replacing it. Maybe with a MB Runed Halo?

I like the Concordant Crossroads. Y'know how sometimes you get one of those big turns where you're able to drop and draw massive amounts of cards? Well sometimes, I don't hit the Words of War but have a Sigil of the Empty Throne out. The crossroads allows me to take the big turn get 5 or 6 angels, then swing for the win that turn. So, there's often times where it saves me the risk of waiting one more turn where maybe they draw that Tranquility and screw me... But... it's usually one of my first cards to sideboard out. It's a card I hate getting early game, because it only helps my opponent. It's usually that, Mirri's Guile, and Exploration that tend to go out. They are nice utility cards for the deck, but aren't necessary for the win.

My meta is VERY underdeveloped. There are not very many top tier, proven decks running around. About half of the players are Rogue builders that primarily play casual and/or standard. But there are good decks that go around. And one guy (the Fish player) that has built a number of decks and loans them out for people to use. That's actually how I got interested in Enchantress. So, including his decks... the better decks in the meta... Elfball, RB Goblins, Merfolk, Kithkin, Mono Black Discard Control, Ravager, Mono Red Burn, and Land Destruction (though he's been having a rough time with that deck and been mostly playing Elfball recently). Fish player also has a Dragon Stompy deck and I think he put together CounterTop and Grindstone/Painter's Servent, but I've never seen him but those last two out for anyone to use so he may not have all the pieces, or pieces are used in whatever deck he's using that night.

MBC has been my toughest match up, as well as MRB. I actually have been having good luck against MRB. I've been getting good hands and been stabilizing with Solitary just in time against him. MBC tends to disrupt my hands early and he's a smart player that knows which cards to pick out of my hand with Thoughtseize and Duress.

Personally I would go with 1 MB Runed Halo... it was definately be a silver bullet if you're facing a low-threat deck. 9/10 times you'll name "Tarmogoyf" Lol.

Also, I think when you weigh the positives and negative of Crossroads I'd probably drop it. It's only good when you're gonna win with Angels already... It almost seems like a 'win-more'. Plus the chance that you can give fast decks even more speed isn't worth the risk IMO.

Discard is very hard for us because we need out Enchantress effects (I assume thats what he grabs when he picks a card) to make the deck start working... Ivory Mask can be a good SB card for it, I know we have Solitary, but Ivory can be in play without have to have the Enchantress draw effects to support it... Just a thought.

Congrats on reppin' Enchantress... it really is a unique deck. Very interesting build too. How do you feel about the Crossroads? Also does the MB Words of Worship come in handy a lot? It would seem good in a aggro/burn heavy meta. Also for your sideboard, personally I try to stick to 100% enchantments to keep Sterling Grove and Enchantress effects utilized.

I'm trying to get this together for a legacy tournament in a couple weeks, but Moat is way out of my budget (heck, Savannah is just barely possible). I've been considering Island Sanctuary as a budget option, or is it just not worth it ? I'd think you're drawing enough cards to overcome the drawback, and I doubt I'll run into much merfolk.

That seems like it would work out fine. While I was waiting for my Moat to come in the mail I played in a tourney and used a Ghostly Prison in its place and even that worked ok.

Errr how does runed halo do anything moat doesn't do against thresh? And they can spell snare it; hardly seems like the answer to tempo thresh and thresh in general runs spell snare, I really hate seeing decks with spell snare because they counter your argothian enchantress's. But runed halo skews the manabase against tempo thresh since they run wasteland and fetching savannah = big no no and not having green mana available with this deck generally means GG's unless you've comboed out and have board control.

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of MD'ing more than 1 Runed Halo... It doesn't seem very strong against Thresh only because they fun so much counter-magic. I run 1 copy currently and am not even very crazy about it. If there were more low threat decks in my area other than Thresh I'd consider running more maybe.

    Why can't chantress be aggro?
I love my mono green chantress deck. It can adapt to whatever meta you are in by either playing as a combo deck or going massive beats.

the sideboard is kind of obvious; seal of primordium, elephant grass, choke, etc... (choke is REALLY funny to drop postboard)

Well technically you could make an aggro "enchantress" deck... but thats not the archtype that this thread is about and quite frankly it wouldn't be considered a "Proven Competitive" deck by any means. The archtype this thread is discussing in the prison style combo/control build. Sorry. :p

Aggro enchantress? It goes against the whole philosophy of the deck; you run cards like elephant grass, solitary confinement, moat, and oring and you suggest we go aggro? Hells no.

Energy field is blue; so it has terrible synergy with choke one of the best cards in the current meta. And it's only good with wheel of sun and moon so it's a 2 card combo that's hard to assemble before they kill you when you could just as easily set up 2 enchantress effects alongside a solitary confinement. Chrome mox is okay in the deck some people play it I don't personally do.

I'll see you at Minneapolis GP Konig since I live in one of the suburbs of Minneapolis and have already requested that I have work off both days. I'll most likely play in the side event legacy as well.

I agree. No to Aggro and EF is not good for Enchantress... I don't play Chrome Mox I play Exploration. It just feels better.

oh and GOOD LUCK! One thing I might suggest is 1-2 *** SB for aggroishy decks. If you expect a lot of Fish (Merfolk fish), Goblins.

No way. This deck hoses aggro as it is. Unless you get a very bad start you eat aggro for lunch. It's not worth wasting 2 SB spots on ***. Cool

The thing about counter magic Vs. Enchantress is that only so many counterspells matter. I actually like playing against counters because theres so many relevant cards in Enchantress that their counters get burned up really quick... but honestly if they're holding a counterspell theres not a lot that ANY deck can do against a turn 1 D-Naught. @Shinny I noticed you don't run Oblivion Ring? Turn 2 Oblivion Ring played off a Turn 1 Sprawl would get D-Naught pretty good as long as they don't have a counter. As for combo... if theres combo in your meta I would side Orim's Chant and Rule of Law, I heard combo needs to play more than 1 spell a turn to win... Smile

I'm just lucky... my meta is mostly aggro right now so Enchantress just cleans house, it's so much fun.

I suppose there's Illusionary Servant, but he does cost double U and can't wear equipment. Slant

And yea, I don't think Sea Drake is worth the investment, Fairy Stompy really isn't Tier 1 and it doesn't see much use outside of it. I still wouldn't buy a second playset of Goyfs, though, I'd rather be boring and have two decks with the same color sleeves than re-buy cards I already own.

Yeah and for that reason exactly I've given up on Faerie Stompy. I talked to a few friends who run the deck and they said it wasn't worth it really... the deck isn't very impressive. Oh well I guess.

Yeah, I've seen it called Baseruption a few times. Though Countertop is really more descriptive. People always want to give "cute" unique names to their style of a deck to make it more descriptive. (i.e., "It's not Threshold! It's Turbo-Maine Reservoir Dogs! Because it plays Wild Mongrel too!")

Hmmm. I've always know this specific build as Baseruption or Ruin the Game, lol, cuz its so ridiculous. When I think Counter/Top I think more Landstill/StifleNaught type builds.. Oh well. :p

    [QUOTE=XenoNinja;/comments/4222704]Ok, 2 things.

1- Thank you for the Baseruption deck, never heard of it and would of just called it Countertop otherwise....I'll post it up there with credits in a second.

    @KonigBohnr - That's expensive! I don't think I paid anywhere near that much for my Baseruption. :\

Yeah I know. I didn't PAY that much for it either... but thats what it would cost you to buy from StarCityGames... realistically... from eBay I'd estimate $800 tops.
