It is obvious, you're just on the wrong side of it:
For the rest of you naysayers making the poor guy doubt himself, please refer to three seperate auctions where the seller used the same image each time. Auction 1, Auction 2, Auction 3
I'm a little late to the party but these are certainly NOT the same card. In the comparison images provided by Matt, check out the pics showing the front top of the card. Look at the black border on the right side. Notice that on the eBay pic, the black border is thinner on the right side compared to the black border on the top. Then look at the card the OP received. You can see almost identical spacing of the black border on the right and the top.
This is about as clear proof as anyone would need. Just my $0.02.
To be honest I wouldn't have made it past the time when he called you a ***** without kicking his butt out of the game. There's plenty of people to test against out there...no reason to waste your time testing against a d-bag.
The top three guesses as to what the Izzy art is for (based on opinions I've heard and read) are Force of Will, Mother of Runes and Control Magic.
I never thought it looked like Force of Will. I figured if they ever re-printed FoW it would use either the original art or the Matt Stewart art from the 2011 Legacy Championship.
I was very quick to jump on the Mother of Runes bandwagon as it's a popular card and both arts feature a woman standing in front of a bookcase.
I'm now starting to see why people are saying Control Magic although I'm still not completely convinced. I think the art looks like a creature card.
In any case, here's what the card COULD look like in any of those three scenarios.
That Control Magic is downright sexy. After seeing the mockups, I am definitely thinking it's CM...although I would be happier with FoW since I reserved 4. But CM is just fine with me
You know that is the first time I have actually been asked that, and I don't think I've ever seen anything that lists an equivalent to what a rare and the like are in common or uncommon cards.
I think it would be useful for some of the lesser used cards, but I do know that most people know that if you cannot use Field Marshal you tend to use Daru Warchief, and if you cannot use him you tend to use either or both of Veteran Armorsmith/Veteran Armorer and Veteran Swordsmith, but that is just an easy example.
Could be interesting to have a list.
Yeah that's the exact kind of list I'm looking for. I've never paid much attention to Pauper or Peasant so I'm not familiar with a lot of the cards that are good in the format that weren't played much during their standard days. A "getting into Pauper Primer" would be awesome and someone with a lot of Pauper experience would be able to steer people in the right direction rather than long, exhaustive Gatherer searches. Just a thought
yeah with delver Brainstorm is better since you can drop a spell from hand if you hit 3 lands or the like, and you can run fetches if it becomes a problem, but unless it's a big issue then I'd leave them out since they will slow it down.
Wanted to necro this thread as I'm going to be going to a Pauper event in June and wanted to get a jump on building and testing. Just curious, what fetches are you referring to that are pauper legal? Just Terramorphic and Evolving Wilds? Thanks?
Can anyone explain why Darksteel Plate is like a $5 card? I can't for the life of me find any explanation. It seemed to spike around the beginning of 2013. Does it have anything to do with the new Boros Reckoner combo in Modern? That's about the only thing I can think of but don't see it in any lists.
Unless they plan on updating the Oracle text soon (and I've not found the list of Oracle changes yet), there's no changes in text of Serra Ascendant.
Now I must find where I saw that at. I took it as them having already changed it but maybe it was a proposed change? thanks for pointing out that bit of incorrect info there...I'll see if I can find it.
I actually doubt it gets a reprint due to the way it worded. More likely it would get a similar card made that instead of stating exactly 30 life it would read something like "10 more life than when you started the game" or something similar.
If they reprinted the card, that's what it would say since they've updated the oracle text since then so it's not broken in multi-player.
This with Paladin is nuts. Midrange decks durdling around with Farseeks and Borderland Rangers might have to start resorting to Geistflame or Fog if these decks start to spring up. Historically though, most "Ball Lightning-esque" variants like this start out strong but then drop pretty quickly value-wise.
It's a mythic that won't be reprinted in Modern Masters. I imagine some people play goblins for modern FNM now as I've seen it locally. It's still worth more than I anticipated.
What? I must have missed that bit of info. Where did you hear that?

So from what we know, this chart is incorrect, right?

But yeah, Farseek above and beyond is your best option IMO.
Thanks!

EDIT: Found it: http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showpost.php?p=9055737&postcount=141. Not sure why this was changed if it's not officially changed in the oracle update. I must have read this and just taken it for what it was...I learned a lesson here I guess

So...then why isn't it streaming now?
