Would you like to see WotC sell gift cards for gems similar to what many other pc games offer? I personally use gift cards for Steam, World of Warships, etc rather than credit cards.
I have a 4 player 180 count cube filled with only two colored cards which makes the drafting more exciting in my opinion, as I tried another 4 player cube once before and it seemed there was no competition for cards during drafting.
I am thinking of bumping up the card count to 216, each player getting 54 cards instead of the normal 45. While testing I discovered that it can be difficult to finalize the last 2-3 cards of your deck, forcing players to dip into a fourth color or use sub optimal cards to finish the deck.
At the moment I have the guildgates, tri-lands, vivid cycle and 5 other lands for mana fixing but planning on switching to Pain, and Fast lands, Tri lands and maybe 5 or 10 Five color lands, because I want all archetypes viable and don't want to push control and mid range too much.
Frontier is gaining popularity in my area so I decided to start a deck. I made a mono black control deck for a small tournament that could stall the game successfully at first but eventually would run out of answers or not be able to close out the game. So I was thinking of adding blue to the mix for card draw and threats likeDragonlord Silumgarand Tasigur, the Golden Fang.
Here is a rough outline of what I played
Transgress the Mind, Duress, Despise
Played 3 of each, would add a forth Transgress the Mind and maybe cut/sideboard Despise
4 Languish
Would run 3 and sideboard a 4th.
4 To the Slaughter
Performed well but don't think I would run more than 3 between maindeck and sideboard.
2 Ruinous Path
Don't know if I would run them again.
2 Murderous Cut
Would add more with delve enablers
4 Fatal Push
Didn't have any but would definitely run 4 between maindeck and sideboard.
3 Blighted Fen
Decent in late game but don't know if I would run them in a two color deck.
4 Read the Bones
Would probably take out for Treasure Cruise or another draw spell
3 Indulgent Tormentor
Would probably be replaced by threats mentioned above.
I stumbled upon a format called "Filth Casserole" which is basically 50 card Modern Highlander (only one of each card except for basic lands) and I am putting together some decks for testing purposes, building an aggro, a midrange and a control deck. Here are the deck list so far. Suggestions/criticisms wanted.
The subject of a new format containing all the new style cards (Magic 15 onward) has been brought up a few times on these forums but I am interested in actually trying it out. I plan on building a midrange, an agro and a control deck and start testing. However my knowledge of Standard and past Standards is rather poor so I will need some help building the decks. Any ideas are welcome.
I am thinking of putting together a stack of 60-100 cards to play "Pack Wars" with. The stack will contain no card draw, land destruction or library mill/manipulation.
However since there are numerous was to play pack wars I am wondering what rule set would be best for this. The "standard" rule set has a standard pack of 15 cards and adding in 3 of each basic land and play normally. Another variant is that players start with 2 of each basic land in play, have 4 cards in hand and 15 life, and have a 15 card pack as their library.
Which format do you think would work best with this idea? (If it would even work at all.)
I recently bought some Ultra Pro Matte sleeves and was wondering if they are cut consistently. Often if I buy a pack and then later buy another pack of regular sleeves there are slight differences in size (which bugs me for some reason).
Has anyone tried remaking the Elder Dragon Legends? I am considering making a set of EDH decks with each Dragon as the general to be played against each other. At first I thought of keeping Nicol Bolas the same and giving the others an effect similar to his when they deal damage to an opponent but maybe remaking each one.
I am thinking of making a small Alara Block cube. However I stepped out from Magic at that time and was wondering were the Alara drafts any good? Did people try to stick to Shard colors or did everyone try to go 5 color?
I have a thing for duel decks and I made a set of duel decks for each guild using only cards from the Ravnica blocks and I thought of doing something similar for the shards using only Alara block cards. However I am trying to decide if I should just make normal 60 card decks or make an EDH deck. EDH decks might be fun but I am not sure if there will be enough mana-fixing. What does everyone else think about this idea?
Since I have been waiting 15+ years for wizards to make an ancient-Greek themed set, I decided to make a cube. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
There is a fan-made format that is basically Legacy up to Onslaught block, with a slightly different ban list (Tendrils and Brain Freeze). I can't remember the name but maybe that is what you are looking for?
Are you thinking about QL magic (Quantum Leap Magic)? I believe it's all oldschool framed sets allowed with some weird rules for reprinted (new frame) versions of old cards. http://www.qlmagic.com/
