I played in the SCG 5k Orlando this weekend. I just posted my list I took with me here. I wrapped the match breakdown in spoiler tags because it's a little lengthy. 10 rounds of fun, here we go!

    Round 1: UW Control

G1: I'm on the draw and we both kept our seven. I open up with T1 Stirring Wildwood, T2 Cobra. T3 he dropped a Halimar Depths and then tapped out for a Treasure Hunt revealing 3 lands and a Kor Firewalker. T3 I dropped a fetch for the early Baneslayer. It stuck for the next four turns for the win.
Sideboard: +3 Luminarch Ascension, -2 Stoneforge Mystic -1 Basilisk Collar

G2: Once again we keep our seven and I'm on the draw. T1 Hierarch, T2 Cobra and swing with the Hierarch. He tapped out AGAIN on turn 3 for the Depths+Treasure Hunt, and I took advantage by sticking an Elspeth to beat him down with the Exalted, Pumped Cobra. He O-Ringed Elspeth the next turn, only to have me play another and a Stirring Wildwood. Day of Judgment wiped my board, but he died shortly thereafter to pumped Wildwoods.

    2-0, 1-0

    Round 2: Mono Black Vamps

G1: He's on the play and we both keep our seven. He drops a Swamp and passes. I drop Stirring Wildwood. T2 he plays Sign in Blood drawing two cards. T2 I fetch and then play a Cobra. T3 he kicks a Gatekeeper and I sack the Cobra. T3 I fetch again and play a KotR. T4 he plays a Swamp, Tendrils'd the Night and swings with the Gatekeeper. On my turn I play Elspeth, make a dude and pass the turn. T5 he plays another swamp and a Nocturnus, revealing a fetch on the top of his deck. He swings at Elspeth with the Gatekeeper, and I chump block with my dude. On my turn I drew a Path to Exile, play a land, active the Wildwood and swing. He takes the 3, and I make a dude with Elspeth and pass the turn. he draws the fetch revealing a Nighthawk on the top, and declares attack step. I Path his Nocturnus, and chump block the gatekeeper which swings at Elspeth. On my turn I drew another Path and pumped the Wildwood with Elspeth. His turn he drops the Nighthawk and swings at Elspeth with the Gatekeeper. I EOT Path the Nighthawk, and proceed to beat him down with the Stirring Wildwood.

Sideboard: +4 Celestial Purge, -4 Path to Exile

G2 was pretty uneventful. I keep my seven and he mulligans down to 4. He got stuck on 2 lands for the majority of the game, and I beat him down with a T2 KotR with 5 lands in the 'yard by the time it was all over.

    2-0, 2-0

Round 3: Mythic Bant w/Stoneforge toolbox

G1 was a battle! By the time it ended we each had 2 KotR's on the board with about 14 lands in each of our 'yards. He also had 2 Finest Hour's out, but I was able to chump block all day long due to double Emeria Angel's on my side of the board. He was gaining plenty of life off of Basilisk Collar before I finally drew the pulse for it. In the meantime I was hitting him every turn with a Sledge'd up Baneslayer. I finally got through for lethal with 3:30 left on the clock. My highest life total of that game was 108 Wink

Sideboard: -2 Stoneforge Mystic -1 Basilisk Collar -1 Behemoth Sledge, +4 Day of Judgment

He took his first turn with about a minute left on the clock. He came out really fast and dealt lethal to me on T3 of turns for the tie.

    1-1, 2-0-1

    Round 4: Jund

G1 I mulled down to six on the play. I drop a turn 3 'Slayer, hoping he doesn't have the Terminate or Pulse. He doesn't and proceeds to Blightning me 3 turns in a row. On the fourth turn swinging with Baneslayer for lethal he hail mary Bituminous Blast's the 'Slayer..... and hits a Bloodbraid.... into a Leech. GG.

Sideboard: -2 Stoneforge Mystic -1 Basilisk Collar -3 Noble Hierarch -2 Lotus Cobra, +4 Celestial Purge +4 Kor Firewalker

We both keep our seven, and he drops a Savage Land and passes. I play a Stirring Wildwood and pass. He drops a forest and passes. I drop a fetch for a Plains and drop a Firewalker. He drops a Thrinax and I gain a life. I swing with the Firewalker and pass. He misses his fourth land drop, and I purge his Thrinax when it swings. He Deathmark's my Firewalker and passes. I drop another Wildwood and pass the turn with another Purge in my hand. He misses his land drop again and drops another Thrinax, which I Purge EOT. I stick a Baneslayer on T5, and ride that and the two Wildwoods to the win.

    2-0, 3-0-1

    Round 5: Jund

G1 and 2 were pretty much the exact opposite Round 4. G1 a T3 'Slayer met a Terminate, Elspeth met a Blightning, and then a Bloodbraid into Blightning. It was over shortly thereafter.

    Sideboard: Same as above match.

G2 I mulliganed down to 5 and kept Verdant Catacombs, Tectonic Edge, Noble Hierarch, and two Baneslayer's. My T1 Noble met a bolt, and I never saw another land.

    0-2, 3-1-1

    Round 6: Boss Naya

G1 I'm on the play and kept a hand with a T2 KotR and plenty of removal. I ended up drawing all four of my Pulses, and just rode KotR and Wildwoods out for the win.

Sideboard: -2 Stoneforge Mystic -1 Basilisk Collar -1 Noble Hierarch, +4 Day of Judgment

G2 he came out swinging, but I stabilized with a T3 Emeria Angel for chump blockers. He eventually emptied his hand and had in play: 2 Ranger of Eos, 2 Wild Nacatl, Knight of the Reliquary, and a 9/9 Scute Mob. I played Day of Judgment and Elspeth. He drew a land and passed, and I dropped a 'Slayer and rode it out for the win.

    2-0, 4-1-1

    Round 7: GW Aggro

G1 I mulliganed to five on the draw, and finally kept a hand with 2 Stirring Wildwoods, Marsh Flats, Lotus Cobra and Emeria Angel. He didn't play anything until a T3 KotR, which met a path right before I swung with the Cobra. I played the Emeria Angel and proceeded to beat him down with that and her flock of bird tokens.

Sideboard: He really didn't play to much G1, so I was a little unsure of what to board in I finally decided on -1 Stoneforge Mystic -1 Basilisk Collar, +2 Day of Judgment

G2 went pretty much the same as G1, except this time I beat him down with a Sledge'd up, Elspeth pumped Baneslayer Wink

    2-0, 5-1-1

    Round 8: Boss Naya

G1 we both kept our seven with my opponent on the play. He got out a T3 KotR, followed by Ranger of Eos for Scute Mob and Wild Nacatl. I wasn't seeing much action on my side aside from Emeria Angel and Basilisk Collar. I managed to Hold him off for awhile, but the second KotR Sealed the Deal.

Sideboard: -2 Stoneforge Mystic -1 Basilisk Collar -1 Noble Hierarch, +4 Day of Judgment

G2 I managed to get a T2 KotR, followed by T3 Elspeth to swing over his head for game in quick order.

There was only about 5 minutes left on the clock when we started G3, so we were both playing quickly. Only problem was, we each had an answer for whatever the opponent played. Wink I eventually stuck a Baneslayer and got in there three times with it. All I have on the board is a Noble Hierarch and the Baneslayer. My opponent has a clear field and is at 6. It's his turn, which is T4 of turns. He top decks the Path and we draw.

    1-1-1, 5-1-2

    Round 9: UW Control

My opponent this time around was considerably better than the guy I played in the first round of the day. G1 we both kept our seven, with him on the play. his first two turns he drops two Celestial Colonade's. I resolved a T3 Baneslayer, which got bounced by Jace. On my turn I pulsed his Jace and swung with a Cobra equiped with a Basilisk Collar. On his turn he dropped a land and passes. I slow rolled the cobra for a few turns until he tapped 6 for an Everflowing Chalice. I took advantage and dropped the Baneslayer. On his turn he Martial Coup'd for 5 dudes, and it was downhill from there. Next turn he activated a Colonade and swung with his team. I tried to path the Colonade, but it got stopped by a Negate. I scooped it up with about 10 minutes left on the clock.

Sideboard: -2 Stoneforge Mystic -1 Basilisk Collar, +3 Luminarch Ascension

G2 I kept my opening hand with Stirring Wildwood, Forest, Verdant Catacombs, 2 Luminarch Ascension, Noble Hierarch and a Baneslayer. He mulled to six. I dropped the Wildwood, and he dropped a Halimar Depths. I dropped the Plains and a Luminarch Ascension. He dropped a Colonade and passed. I dropped the other Ascension and the Hierarch and passed. A second Colonade from my opponent and he passed it back. I went for a KotR, but it met a Negate. My first Ascension got O-Ringed, but the other one got online while he started missing land drops. My angel tokens beat him down to four and he scooped with about 5 minutes left in the match.

G3 I got a T2 Ascension again, but time ran out, and I could only get him down to 7 before he played Day of Judgment sealing the tie.

    1-1-1, 5-1-3

    Round 10: Jund

G1 he beats me down with a perfectly curved Leech, Thrinax, Bloodbraid into Terminate for my KotR, into Bit Blast for my second 4/4 Knight, cascading into Bloodbraid, into another Thrinax. Ouch.

Sideboard: -2 Stoneforge Mystic -1 Basilisk Collar -3 Noble Hierarch -2 Lotus Cobra, +4 Celestial Purge +4 Kor Firewalker

G2 He mulligans to six and I keep my seven. The only point of damage I took this game was from my own fetchland. He got mana screwed and only had Savage Lands, Forest, Forest in play, while I had 2 Kor Firewalker's down with 2 Celestial Purge and 3 Maelstrom Pulse in hand. It was over just as quick as Game 1.

G3 was more of a battle. We both dropped threats only to immediately eat removal, but I eventually stabilized at 4 with a Baneslayer and beat him down.

    2-1, 6-1-3

The final match and game records respectively: 6-1-3 and 15-5-3
I ended up placing 41st out of 439 players. Smile

I had not considered Lark/Guide.....If I understand Lark/Guide. Play guide/recur a creature, next turn let it die, evoke Lark, it brings back guide, lark, and one more. Repeat?

And with my Minion Reflector in play it could get even more ridiculous from there.

    Works like that?
If so, I'm on it. I've got a lark, I'll just have to find a Karmic Guide.

    ^This.

If you throw Carrion Feeder or some other sac outlet that doesn't require mana into the mix, you can get pretty crazy. Here's a list of the InfiLark pieces that I run in my deck:

Sac Highway Robber, then Reveillark, then Karmic Guide with Reveillark's trigger on the stack. Lark brings back Highway Robber and Guide, and Guide brings back Lark. Rinse, wash, repeat, good game.

Or try Faceless Butcher. All the etb effects the deck runs are amazing with him. Hmmm, Butcher comes into play removing Angel of Despair. Sac Butcher, Angel of Despair comes back, etc....

Infinite tokens with Skeletal Vampire, Cloudgoat Ranger and Captain of the Watch. You can also exile all of your opponents creatures with the Butcher. Just sac him with the etb trigger on the stack, the leaves play trigger resolves and does nothing, then you can remove a creature and nothing can bring it back.

Lots of fun tricks you can do with InfiLark! Wink

EDIT: I forgot about Kor Hookmaster and Kor Cartographer. Hookmaster lockdown, or just grab every plains out of your deck right now with the Cartographer.

@idscorpion- i think you should run the B/G fetchland as well to get the full potental of ob nixlis and grim discovery

Yeah, I was thinking that could be good late game tricks. Grabbing a fetch and a Gatekeeper on turn six seems really solid. Lets's see:
-4 Quest for the Gravelord (anti-synergistic with GD)
    +4 Grim Discovery

I'll test out both builds and see how it works.

Any thoughts on running Quest for the Gravelord? With all the removal we're packing, we can very quickly get those 5/5 zombies online and swinging as an alternate win con. Here's what I'm going to be testing out this weekend:

My meta is a pretty even split between aggro and control.

Here's the build I've been kicking around:

I've been back and forth between Disfigure and Harm's Way. I think I like Disfigure a little better, because it's more flexible removal, allowing you to take out utility creatures when the opponent isn't swinging. You can also double stack it on a Malakir Bloodwitch to get around the protection.

Uh, did you guys forget Auntie's Snitch? Remember how much play that saw, even when rogue decks were popular? I was excited about it too at first, as I love Netherspirit and the like, but this guy is a 2/1 with no evasion. Sure, if vampires do become good, this will be a 2 drop in it (with Child of Night being the BETTER 2 drop IMO) but Noctuornus is quite a poor lord, mainly because his ability is iffy - you could just fizzle alot, and does force you to play mono black (which isn't too bad) but yeah I remember playing him in limited, and he was just a dumb hill giant alot of the time. I'd play Terramorphic in the deck to thin your land, despite the landfall ability of this guy.

However, Auntie's Snitch went back to your hand and cost 1B to play that turn, whereas Blood Extractor hits play for free. I'll take one of these for the low, low price of a land drop, but later game, getting two or three? That's a very fine deal.

Granted this guy would be better if he was buffed, or had evasion, but you don't need to play him in MBC/A. I bet he'll see play in UB control decks as a recurring chump blocker, or something of the like.

Edit: Whoops. Never mind that last bit, he can't block. Reading cards is tech Smile

    Blood Extractor BB
    Creature - Vampire Spirit Rare
    Blood Extractor can't block.
Blood Extractor has haste if an opponent has 10 life or less.
Landfall - Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, you may return Blood Extractor from your graveyard onto the battlefield.

    Turn 1: Land, Mox, Glimpse
Turn 2: Dredge, Ideas Unbound, Dredge some more, land for turn. At that point, off of Narcomoebas, Fatestitchers and the new guy, you've got a pretty hefty army of dudes to sac to Dread Return.

    Thoughts or opinions?

And what do we do about Volcanic Fallout? Killing a ton of zombies at just the right time and potentially killing one of their own dudes at instant speed for three doesn't sound happy to me.

Just run Burrenton Forge-Tender in the SB. Dread Return it before you go off and :).

Warren Weirding is definitely not getting the attention it should. I don't see it as inferior to Fleshbag since it's half the cost, but I see that if you get Colossus with it, they get 2 tokens, but honestly that's much better than them having Colossus.

Sure Warren Weirding is fine, but it's not half the cost. It costs 1B whereas Fleshbag Marauder costs 2B. Also, if your running Bitterblossom, you can sack a Faerie token and have a (probably) short lived beatstick.

I'm strictly a MTGO player (where M10 isn't out until August). My MBC deck has been a HOUSE lately.

However M10 is around the corner and wanted to know what you guys have been running instead of Cruel Edict. It's been such a powerful card for me to off things like Colossus and Wall of Denial.

Looks like Fleshbag Marauder and Warren Weirding are the only options, though the Marauder is better.

Here's the build that I'm toying with right now:

I've been testing this out heavily against mono white Kithkin, RDW, BBE, and Elf-Ball. I'd say against Kithkin, it's a pretty 50/50 matchup. If they can drop Ajani or Honor of the Pure, it can get out of control pretty fast. Early hand disruption, lot's of spot removal, and an early Bitterblossom can slow them down long enough to drop Creakwood Liege into Xathrid Demon. Game 1 is tough, but not impossible. After sideboard, my chances are a whole lot better.

RDW is a pretty good matchup, just because I can handle what few creatures they drop with spot removal, and take their best burn out with Thoughtsieze/Duress. Tendrils of Corruption is an absolute HOUSE in this matchup!

BBE is a similar matchup to Kithkin, with similar sideboard options.

Elf-Ball is actually an amazing matchup! Early hand disruption can really throw them off big. Combined with lot's of spot removal FTW in game 1. Sideboard in Fleshbag Marauder and Infest to deal with Chameleon Colossus and Great Sable Stag.

I haven't had a chance to test this against Faeries or 5cc yet, but I think those will be decent matchups. Overall, I really like this build. In my meta, it's mostly just the matchups I listed. One guy runs Fae, and one other guy runs 5cc, but they're hardly ever at the shop on Fridays. I know it's kind of jank with Creakwood Liege and Xathrid Demon, but whatever.

I've been considering changing some stuff though to make it more control:
    -4 Hypnotic Specter
    -4 Creakwood Liege
    -2 Xathrid Demon
    +4 Infest
    +3 Diabolic Tutor
    +2 Corrupt
    +1 Haunting Echoes

I could also just take out Hippie for Shriekmaw. Comments? Suggestions?

I agree with Dr. J. I definitely don't want to be passing Garruks and Overruns and all kinds of sick removal.

I think you should take out the martial coup.

No no! I agree with Somogyi! Wink

EDIT: Btw, have you thought about Seedborn Muse? Especially in a 6 man game, with your mana elves down, you could go infinite by the time you hit your next turn...

I've never gotten mana screwed once. 9 times out of 10, Land Tax sticks and clears my deck of basics. Otherwise I can tutor out Endless Horizons to do the rest. Besides, in a 6 man game, nothing happens real fast, and you have time to recover if you miss one or two land drops.
