Could anyone point me in the right direction? I'm looking for a Level 2 judge in the Northern Orange County (California) area to "mentor" an aspiring judge-in-training. I hope I'm asking in the right place.
deckstats.net is pretty good for taking a look at curves and composition, etc. tappedout.net allows you to run mock drafts of your list with bots, and then deckbuild and goldfish. Pretty fun, and can help you with composition in terms of curve and so fourth.
Hmm, good looking out. I'm gonna try these sites out.
There are so many sites dedicated to building decks, but I have not found one that specializes in cubes (or even EDH). Anyone know of a site where I can quickly work on a cube or EDH deck that's laid out really well?
(I've been using MTG Deck Builder and Google Docs mostly.)
The deal with Ajani is that it plays the same role as a number of 1-2cc instants that have been put in, what I think we can call "the azorius charm slots". Ajani taps down stuff that it can't burn, threatens life total and the ultimate will actually happen against tron if the game goes as it should(everything relevant gets countered or slowed-down). It should gp without saying that Ajani also answers eldrazi dudes.
I'd like to point out that Ajani doesn't tap anything down. He keeps things tapped. It's a HUGE difference! I've learned it the hard way. =P
Sowing Salt
Molten Rain
Upping the Tec Edges to 4 with Surgical Extraction
Fulminator Mage
Bribery
Telemin Performance
Annex
More discard
Vendilion Clique
A higher number of Counterspells
Pithing Needle for Karn/O-Stone
Spreading Seas
All of them probably aren't good, but those are just some ideas.
Since we run teachings, Mindbreak Trap is a decent answer to the hardcast. They get the extra turn, but you don't have to worry about it ever coming back.
I have been testing a singleton burning oil and moved a bolt to the side. Burning oil has been sooooo good against all the rg and jund Aggro decks popping up. Also as an answer to thrun, I run 3 phantasmal image in the side. It is just absurd against the new 4 drops of jund(thrun and olivia)along with being bonkers against tron copying a wurmcoil.Thoughts?
Yeah, been running image as protection from legendaries, including sigarda and geists. They're fine, but not being a flash/instant, they don't exactly "fit" into this deck. I was trying evacuation as a one of, I guess aetherize might be good as well. (I've taken this deck apart for now, and moved on to UWr control for the moment.)
Looks like MrOrange and GerryT are excited about it (on twitter at least). I'm thinking it's a mistake cutting black. Cutting red may have been better (Bolts and Electrolyze are huge tho).
how does BBE being banned effect this deck? What do we take out now that we don't have to worry about jund?
I think it frees up some slots (along with the ban on seething song) in the sideboard. I'm going to be cutting counterflux and mindbreak trap and going to try and shore up my matchups vs. early GoSTs.
I've decided to try Evacuation to answer these troublesome cards. It also allows me to rebuy my Snapcasters and V.Cliques. I've gone back to the 4x Arid Mesa / 4x Scalding Tarns manabase. The other changes to the sideboard are strictly for my LGS meta.
edit: Just saw that Leave no Trace is an actual card. This may change things.
edit2: Weighing the difference between 2 and 3 mana... I think Leave no Trace might be worth running over Tempest of Light, but I have to get some playtesting vs. boggle in.

I am looking to manage a list, but mock-drafting would be cool too (I mean I guess I could just write a quick script to mock-draft from a text file.)

Thanks!

Maybe I'll take a shot at a glittering wish deck. =P
Anyone have a list from where I can start?

Can't say I blame him too much. It's really really tough to play 4cc in this vast meta.
