Eh, not a fan of it, mostly because it seems like an unnecessary change. Have more art space is nice in my opinion, as I am a collector for the art. Terrible cards stick easily in my memory if they have great art, so having more space for that will be nice.
...why? These changes seem pretty utterly unnecessary. The foil stamp is terrible, though I suppose have a sign of authenticity is useful. They did protect themselves from accidental spoilers like we had with Rootborn Defenses though, so I suppose the seemingly pointless addition of the information in the lower left is a good thing, at least for them. Still feels like an unnecessary change to what was already a great modern-looking piece of graphic art.
The mana cost on the left side was good. I also personally liked the texture you had on the box itself for the mana cost. With your third iteration, you've moved just about everything up to the top of the card, making it feel extremely cluttered.
I have an archive of hi res card art, however as Galspanic said, it would be illegal to print without permission from Wizards. Also, that resolution is ridiculous. I have maybe 5 (maybe) official card arts that would be anywhere near that resolution. The only artwork I have at that size is stuff I've painted myself.
That's just beyond ridiculous imo. Hell It's hardly a noticeable change and it's not like she's half naked or anything.
That said I don't find one better than the other.
The art was used as cover artwork for the digital "case" for the game on various marketplaces. Oddly, it would appear actually that the 360 "case" in their marketplace actually had the unaltered version of the art (with the cleavage). Perhaps it was Sony that requested the change, because both the PS3 and Steam versions have the altered art.
Also, because it was the cover art, it was at a higher aspect ratio than on a Magic card, and the cover art focused from about her waist and upward, so I imagine the cleavage was a little more obvious in that scenario.
I'm on the side of agreeing. Sometimes I tend to speak with an air of authority, and that ended up getting me a couple of infractions. I would agree that it's something that I need to work on, but I was never flaming, trolling, or doing anything other than suggesting to another user how they could more effectively get answers to their questions and/or feedback on whatever they were talking about. Those infractions were always the ones I felt were least fair, considering open discussion about proper etiquette should be encouraged for a thriving social forum. The effect of those infractions has caused me to both post much less on certain forums than I used to, post less in general, and has gotten to the point where I actually visit the site far less frequently than in my prime as a member here. I shot over a thousand posts pretty quickly. I've been here for five years. That number hasn't gone much higher in that time. Now most of my time is spent in the artwork forum only, and that forum is starting to die.
EDIT: I will say thought hat overall I have enjoyed the community during my tenure here, and the moderation is actually pretty decent. More recently I've been seeing a lot more "reminder mod edits" that don't actually give out an infraction as opposed to the other way around.
hmm...it has alot of details for just being a concept art. or not ?
looks to me like they put some kind of color filter on it, but that it is already the final picture
It probably doesn't have as much detail as it seems. Depending on the illustrator, even a finished painting will only have the illusion of detail. That said, based on where this image was found alone, I'd say it's definitely a final piece.
There are plenty of examples of the original being changed slightly, though both versions don't usually end up on a card. Ooze Garden's original art was more blue and the character was more skeletal originally, Onyx Mage looked completely different, but Wizards apparently thought Izzy painted someone that loved cutting themselves too much for their taste, and Karl Kopinski did an awesome piece for New Prahv Guildmage, but wizards changed the color of the stone in his armor from red to blue for a more "Azorius" look.
I wish I could pick more than one. Deveri and Jeleva both look like they'll be so much fun. Side note: Is it just me, or is Wizards running out of awesome names, and now they're just taking whatever gibberish creative wants to give them?
