This is already an awesome turnout. I respect each of you highly as artists, and our individual styles couldn't be more different. Feel free to post whatever you're working on, or even finished pieces that you'd like critiqued. I plan on putting up some of mine as soon as I can. Work is a little in the way of artistic progress right now.
So I've been noticing a higher than usual quantity and caliber for the artists on this forum lately, and I miss the contests for frequent challenges, so I figured why not start a sort of collective amongst one another, where we can provide challenges to each other, post work progression, and critique one another's work to build each other up as a community of artists who happen to love Magic? I'll reserve this first post to put up challenges if you all want to do any, but for now, I'd just like to get us all together and start helping one another improve. Let me know if you're interested.
For the first piece, his right hand looks really awkward. I'd suggest repositioning it to look more natural to the curve of the arm. Aside from that, these are all professional quality pieces. Well done.
I actually miss the challenges set out by the artwork contests. My current work schedule wouldn't give me the time to do a contest every month, but have you considered rotating the contests seasonally? Have a spring contest from March until May, summer contest from June until August, etc.
I'm truly confused at this point. The card rulings on Shadowborn Apostle say that the line saying "You may have any number of Shadowborn Apostles in your deck" only counts for the standard "four-of" rule, yet I see decklists for EDH running him. Is it legal to play multiples of him in EDH?
Depends on what the idea is. If it's for Magic, there's no good way apart from waiting for the next GDS. If it's for a new game, you need an agent. If it's for a new multilayer format, make a beta version, test it out, and send them an email.
It does say only. And Commander is a format. Hence my confusion.
