I didn't even notice that I hadn't been added as a member (I've kinda been out of MTG for the last few months). However, I'm a glad to be a member, and will fulfill my duties as Rockin Duder (whatever it is the duties of my entirely made of title include).

For Discussion: I was really late on the pick up of some great albums from last year. Anybody know of K'naan? His album "Troubadour" was fantastic. I'm not really into rap/hip-hop, but he is definitely an exception for me.

The Hurt Locker- Ladies and gentlemen, your Oscar favorite IMO. This movie was amazing. As realistic a wartime movie you will ever see. The suspense was nearly unbearable and done without relying on gimmicks to create suspense. Go rent it people!

110% fully and unquestionably agree. My brother had told me it was his number 1 movie of '09, and after seeing it, i couldn't agree more. Also true about the suspense, I literally felt like I was on the edge of my seat the whole movie.

Sidenote: I couldn't believe my brother outright, bc he begged me to go see Legion with him...I'm still trying to find out who to write to for recovery of time and expense. Any time Dennis Quaid the Movie Whore (second only to Sam Jackson, who will act in anything, anywhere for a minimum $1 fee) is in a movie, I should know better.

I also love Them Crooked Vultures, which isn't saying much bc I'm a fan of anything Josh Homme is involved in (Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal, Desert Sessions) . I recommend anything he does, and if you've never heard Eagles of Death Metal, its a way fun project to listen to.

    First,

    Love =/= Logical

Your arguments make perfect sense in the logical way that you present them, however, I don't believe that they can be used in an argument about love. People do lots of stupid and crazy things in the name of love, and buying a gaudy diamond ring probably ranks as one of them. I remember when I bought my wife's engagement ring, I was like "well there goes several future boxes of MTG cards." But in the end, I didn't really care.

Part of the problem with your argument is that you only present it economically. What happens if she wants something that does not have an economical value? Say, hypothetically, that you are a poet. And she muses "I wish would you write a poem about me." Would you respond "I will only write you a poem if you do something for me in return" Would you require that she reciprocate? But in what way? She is (hypothetically) terrible at writing poetry. How would you measure her reciprocating action?

If you have love, money should mean little to you beyond surviving. I'll end with a quote I found while preparing my wife's 1st anniversary gift.

"True love begins when nothing is looked for in return."

They've been doing only a couple of shows so far. Their debut album will be released on 23 October according to Last.fm but I haven't seen any news on when exactly it will be released elsewhere so I have no idea when it will actually be released..

But really; we know Dave Grohl and Josh Homme can't go wrong together, and adding a Led Zeppelin member can also only make it better right?

I haven't heard of a release, but you can go to youtube and see some (crappy) footage from people's cell phones of the few shows they have played. They are playing here in Detroit tomorrow night; unfortunately I have to travel for work and will miss it.

Dave Grohl + Josh Homme = Win. Queens of the Stone Age's Songs for the Deaf is probably my favorite album of the last decade.

Uggh...They need to stop with these damn supergroups. I mean, Chickenfoot? HONESTLY. As if Sammy Hagar wasn't bad enough...Let's bring Satch to his level!
    Facepalm

Chickenfoot might as well be called The Sammy Hagar Band. Maybe they'll release an update to Sammy's most famous song... "I can't drive Sixty-Five! (and in some states 70!!!)"

I would totally make that my ringer.

    Shows I'm currently watching:

Sons of Anarchy- might be my favorite TV show right now.

    This

Also on FX, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, easily one of the funniest shows I have ever seen. How can you go wrong with episode titles like "The Gang Finds a Dumpster Baby"

I think it looks cool. Though I time travel always seems like a topic hard to stay consistent with. Like the main character, he sees his future and starts to make this board with all the things he saw from the future. But, isn't it possible that all these things that are on the board in the future are there bc he sees them in the blackout and so creates them in the past. This makes sense in my head, perhaps not when actually written down.

Also, if you still miss it, you can probably watch it on hulu (yes, legal)

I was not corrected on the "tap to block" for like two years. I would be in 4-5 person group games and getting pwned and I never understood why. I was always tapped out and getting run over. Finally one day I was like "why didn't you tap to block?" After the laughing had ceased, they explained you don't have to tap to block, which made so much more sense.

So I think part of it may be if you are playing only 1v1 or group games. I don't think it would affect a 1v1 game as much (key words = as much), but in a group game, where you may block the person after you and then be open to attack for the next four players bc you "used" your one block, it may flick the switch for them.

Or just start playing with cards like Relentless Assault and they'll be like "not teh kool" and be forced to change their ways

Hm, does that put you in the Tri-City area? I'm originally from saginaw/freeland

Re: Muse - I haven't heard United States of Eurasia on the radio yet, just Uprising. Having said that, my local radio stations suck at life, so that might explain it.

I'm still flip-flopping between Unnatural Selection and United States of Eurasia, but they're both awesome. MK Ultra's not bad either.

Unnatural Selection is really my gun-to-the-head favorite, I can easily listen to the album the whole way through. It's nice that their are still a few bands out there that can make an album, and not just a couple of singles with some filler.

    A music clan? sweet.

I like the new Muse CD, and would have to go with Unnatural Selection as my favorite. I've liked them since Absolution must say that is still my favorite of theirs. As far as poppy goes, I must say i was surprised when i first listened to Black Holes and Revelations and the track Supermassive Black Hole started up; not exactly the Muse-y sound i was used to.

They were also the first band I'd heard described as "Apocalyptic Rock" which immediately became my favorite genre name ever.

How about something that would make sense to change the keyword to "burn", like:

    Apocalypsinate
    Sorcery/Instant
Target land gains Fire/Burn/Ignition/Combustion (A Land with Fire/Burn/Ignition/Combustion does something way cool/lame. This land continues to burn until end of game)

I'll let people with a better sense of design streamline it

I don't understand why so many want a serious movie with a deep story line. I mean, it's GI Joe, they made Sgt. Slaughter a part of the cartoon. I went into this movie with the mindset I was twelve, and wanted to see cool GI Joe stuff; not a new Bourne, or Black Hawk Down or something.

Summary: It was exactly what I wanted/expected from a GI Joe movie

For whatever reason, I've always hated Jubilee from X-men. You can make fireworks? Wow. So if there are any super-villains out there who take out our 4th of July fireworks display, we're lucky enough to have you as a back-up.
