Holy crap, how are people not freaking out about how strong crypt ghast is? There hasn't been a real mana doubling effect at 4 mana since what, unlimited? The added ability tacked on is just gravy. Good god might Geth deck hopes Sheldon doesn't figure out some stupid way to deprive mono black of another giant mana producer.

(I mean sure, doubling cube but that doesn't do anything until you've got 7+ base mana anyway. Cabal coffers likewise doesn't really totally double your mana since it costs 2.)

Vernal Bloom (7th/8th Ed), Heartbeat of Spring (CHK).

Also, dat Skyknight art... It looks like something out of a XXX fan-art gallery.

At first look Gideon seems to be a little on the meh side, but when I look again, and I tried pairing it with some other cards, I think he might just work.

By the time you drop Gideon, you would always activate his +1 activity first even if your opponents do not have any creatures in play. In that right he becomes a 5.5 next turn, but if your opponent does have a creature in play say around 2 or 3, he could be a 7/7 or 8/8, that is definitely a threat any player would recognize, an 7/7 or 8/8 swing by turn 5 is nothing to laugh about, especially for one which is indestructible thus immune to most removal spells in standard (except Selesnya Charm or Tragic Slip which doesn't seem to be played recently). The ultimate is just icing on the cake, if say a game cannot be won by just attacking with a creature, then his ultimate comes in handy to get rid of any annoying permanents in play.

The question now is in what deck this would fit in, Control and Aggro is a good choice, in Control you can just protect him via Supreme Verdict and Counter spells then pump him to get a bigger creature. In aggro, you get a 4CC pumpable creature which is immune to removal is something that aggro need to survive long standing games against control and the likes. We'll just have to wait and see.

So you expect your opponent to allow you to connect with a 7/7 or 8/8 Giddy-on-up if he/she controls 2 or 3 creatures? I sense a hole in your logic. Again, I fail to see how you wouldn't just build your control deck as Esper and simply run the new Ghost Dad. He survives much more easily during your opponents' turn, actually does a job of keeping you alive as well as himself, and he can't be killed by attackers.

So... We now have a planeswalker which can make no effort protecting you, a pretty darn lacking job of protecting himself, and generally just falls flat in a simple comparison to the new Ghost Dad?

Terrible Planeswalker is terrible. They really tried hard to balance the ones in this set, and they've fallen flat both times now.

I believe the reason behind these decisions is that they pick out the particular guild whose guild leader will have/has had a significant impact on the story since last time around. Niv-Mizzet is plotting an entire expansion on his own, it seems, and Zegana came around and re-established the Simic guild in its entirety.

    -2, I said.

I guess he means that you should be playing Flinthoof Boar instead of Call of the Conclave, being a sorcery and all Wink

Lingering Souls + Hellrider? That would be just really aggressive token beat down deck.

That's exactly what it's supposed to be like. The mana base isn't that bad, really, I've been playing this for a month now and so far I've 5-0'd two FNM's. The deck suffers slightly against reanimator, but has equal to favorable matchups against most other decks.

Blood Artist really isn't the direction you wanna take, and Krenko and Sorin are neither cards you'll want to play. All three are just way too slow for a deck that just wants to make more dudes, hence playing the full 8 2-drops (Krenko's Command and Gather the Townsfolk).

Falkenrath Aristocrat is just about the best card in the entire deck.

The Simic one reminds me of Shielding Plax. Similar plates, tenticals...

    "Tenticals" as in "identical tentacles"?

The creature on Shielding Plax is just a regular simic mutant sort of thing... And seeing as the izzet laboratories were destroyed, they've taken a more natural turn, and are now being lead by a merfolk.

Meaning that it's pretty unlikely that it's got anything to do with the 'Plax.

    I'd say Rakdos/Selesnya aggro.

Seller of Songbirds seems fine to me. On defense it's on-par with a 2/3, which you'd basically always play at 3 mana. Possibly the best trump to various x/1 fliers in the format. On offense, it's sort of a better Gather the Townsfolk, which you were always happy playing.

    So...

Boros: Soldier - 1/2 Double Strike
    Dimir: Spirit - 2/1 Unblockable
    Gruul: Beast - 3/2 Trample
    Simic: Octopus - 1/4 Hexproof
    Orzhov: Thrull - 2/2 Lifelink

    My two cents.

Goblin Rally, not close. It can really make way for some absurd draws, and it's not that bad on its own.

The only thing about the old frame promos is that they're not outlining the expansion symbols with white like they did back then. It was a change they did in 8th Edition (now they only use the white outline on commons/basics) and really, they should've paid attention to fixing it when they started at Sword of Fire and Ice (which was, as far as I remember, before they began using the shooting star expansion symbol). You know your card frames Whatzee, get to work!

Wow. I've litterally always been the only player in my group who didn't play Primeval Titan, mostly because I couldn't get my hands on one. I guess everything does come to the one who waits!
