  • posted a message on So Pauper you say...
Somone mentioned http://pdcmagic.com/ in an earlier post. There are player run events that cost you nothing to join. Prizes I believe are donated by other players but dont quote me on that as Im not 100% positive. In my experience prizes are usually some useful pauper card or a pick from a pool of previously donated commons and a chance at a door prize for those of us unfortunate enough to not make the top eight

check it out you wont regret it Smile

  • posted a message on Coming back to Magic...should it be online?
Personally I prefer Moto to paper for several reasons most of wich someonehere has already mentioned.

One thing have not seen however is one huge plus for me. I like to brew decks and I am a VERY budget player. In MOTO once you own a card or a playset of the card you can use them in as many decks as you want to build. you are never forced to move cards around from deck to deck. Also you never have to sort through boxes of cards as they are always right there in front of you. you can sort themwith several handy filters IE standard legal, modern, sets ect.

  • posted a message on When Did you Go from a 'Noob' to a Respectable Player?
Ive been playing magic off and on since 95 or 96 and I am still a noob Smile

I started playing moto around m10 and it has improved my game tenfold at least. I think its mostly the access to players better than me.

  • posted a message on what is your first ever deck when you started playing MTG?
My first deck was an all commons mono black. I bought it for $5.00 from a lgs. The store owner put them together and sold them. There was no unopened product to be had at the time and I had no idea how to play the game let alone build a deck. The only thing I remember was about the thing was it had drudge skeles dark rituals and unholy strength. Speaking of bringing back memories the owner then taught me the basics of how to play by running me through a few games against one of the other home made common preconstructed decks he sold. I was ready to step into the fray with some other guys in the shop. My first game the guy plays a land and then plays a swamp with two words written on it in magic marker " Black Lotus" .

  • posted a message on Jace TMS Value
I think the price will drop some when he rotates out of standard. As far as holding his value I think it mostly depends on how much more overpowered jace 3 is than jace 2.

  • posted a message on "Rent-a-card" - solution for high priced formats?
    Quote from weirdolighting
What about just borrowing cards from friends? Or pooling money with friends? That's pretty similar to renting and more reasonable.

Another solution is waiting to play T2 until Jace rotates out.

There will always be another jace thats never going to change unfortunatley.

On topic: I think the idea is interesting and do not see why it would not work

  • posted a message on Need some Ideas for a Deck!!!!!!!!
you really need to be just a bit more specific.

    Standard?

What do you want the deck to do?

Why are you choosing Black/Red and artifact?

    Agro? Control? Combo?

  • posted a message on Why do people Rage Quit on turn 1??
    Quote from sulfurmage
I've seen people quit for every possible reason. There are people who quit in response to any countermagic. There are people who quit in response to any discard effect. There are people who quit when someone dares Doom Blade their creature. There are people who quit when someone plays any elf, or any vampire, or any ally. There are people who quit when they are playing a combo deck and they don't have the pieces in hand for a turn two kill.

There is really nothing to do other than just shrug and laugh.

That pretty much sums it up cept you forgot to mention goblins or burn or ramp Grin

  • posted a message on How Do You Handle Crap-Talkers?
    Ahhh sweet sweet tears Grin

The face is great I can so picture the rage building with each installment.

How i handle the trash talk depends on the situation in the game.

This one falls under the T1 rager:

DB is playing something with stoneforges, fetches and swords vs my janky mono green elves and we are several turns in.

DB: "FU ur trash for playing that main" after I had Naturlized 2 of his swords in a row.

ME: "Really? they seem to be working pretty well :)"

I this particular situation NO quarter would be given. I would have loved to brow beat this petulant spoiled rotten rich 12 year old boy to the point of epic nerd rage suicide involving overdosing on mommy's scotch and birth control. Unfortunatley I was not able to purge the gene pool as he sent a salvo of "whatever FU" and conceded

    In another case:

I'm on the draw and keep a very sketchy mul to 6 one lander with a preordain. Turn one my oponent inquisitions me and of course takes the preordain. I tell him ya got me gg and concede.

The guy opens a private chat with me and tells me he is sick of playing scrubs that always concede to his turn one inquisition. In this situation I feel for the guy because I often play the card myself and I understand how frustrating it can be. So how about an explination you saw my hand I had already mulled to 6 only had one land and would now will not have a play until at least turn 4 assuming I draw 3 lands in a row. You are playing swamps which means you have acess to a grip of good removal and will likley nuke my 4 drop as soon as it hits the table. I gambled on a bad keep and lost your inquisition did exactly what it was supposed to hence the gg

That last is more of an example and I used a bit of artistic license since i dont remember exactly what was said word for word but the gist of it is there
