Go figure, I'm the one playing most of these cards...
I understand some of the hate, but some of the cards tend to be hated for simply being played, despite effecting everyone equally. I played Furnace of Rath and for the next 3 turns, my opponents only attacked me and stated "if I could destroy Furnace of Rath, they would stop attacking me so relentlessly. Likewise, playing Helix Pinnacle is a deathwish. I will not see my next turn if I play it past turn 4.
Soon, Tomiyo, the Moon Sage and each of the new legendary angels will get some hate.
Looks like other people are reporting getting angel-themed Judge promos (Exalted Angel and Decree of Justice) along with all foil tokens. I guess Wizards decided to screw some people over and give others really nice prizes.
It's like buying a pack of cards without knowing its contents. You cannot blame the Wizards for not having them all be the same. This also adds to variation and not actually knowing what is inside. This will draw in players rather than having them know what is already there and being disappointed.
Isn't the undying mechanic begging to be built around mimic vat?
I was thinking about that, but wasn't sure if it would work mainly because you could theoretically use any creature with better benefits. I'm not sure if it works... ask a judge.
So, I was browsing around on someone's have/want list earlier and I found Reverberate from M12. To my astonishment, the high price was $75.00. I was surprised and thought, "Okay, it's a typo on this site." So, I went to magiccards.info to verify and it was listed $75.00 high, $1.97 medium, $0.24 low. I looked at why it was high and one shop listed under pricing had the card listed as $75.00. Maybe the owner didn't notice that it was $75.00. Not even Starcitygames had it listed over $1.50.
Turn 3: Island/any land
use ability 3 times
attack
In the off chance that you don't get anything but land, you just milled 3 cards and every turn after will be an additional one. This plus Trepanation Blade make the mill all that more fun and the Mindshrieker more powerful.
"Flashing it in" is playing it at instant speed. You can play instants, like Burst Lightning, also at instant speed. Since he played tapped the amulet before the declare blockers step, during the declare blockers step, you can play Burst Lightning to destroy your Goblin Wardriver. Combat damage would not be dealt to the Goblin Wardriver, thus Wurmcoil Engine would not deal damage to anything. In turn, the Goblin Wardriver would not do any damage either. Playing instants in this timeframe is possible, just like playing Giant Growth before and after the declared blockers step.
The only way I could see this as being an illegal move for you is if the card you were playing was a sorcery, like Forked Bolt.
I have an big question dealing with Pyromancers Ascension and epic spells(example: Enduring Ideal) from Kamigawa. If Pyromancers Ascension has two counters, will I get to play the spell twice every turn?

people who dont like her are insane. She protects herself, she costs 3, and fuels flashback. With a draw engine youre basically attritioning your opponent. remember the last walker who protected himself?
I remember people saying that many of the new planeswalkers couldn't protect themselves. As to what this means is beyond me.
But being specialized in a certain type of play is probably the case.
I only run Chandra Ablaze for the sheer fact that she's amazing in a burn deck despite her high cmc. The deck, on the other hand, has a average mana cost of 1.81.
So, until Liliana is demographed for a specific type of deck, it's all speculation.
Black decks are going to have field day dealing with this with memorcide, because almost everyone is going to be running it.
As for burn decks, it kills them quickly especially if you can return it to your hand. Blue-Black will dominate with the format. But, then again, red is the most underpowered color in standard currently and adding one more card to disrupt their playability is not going to change anything.
I'm expecting this card to be a staple in just about every deck in standard and the price will probably soar.
He's a turn 4 drop in Green decks.
Turn 1: Forest and Llanowar Elves
Turn 2: Khalni Heart Expedition and then a Forest, 1 counter on Khalni.
Turn 3: Play Harrow. Grab 2 more forest, Khalni and sack it. Land. Play a 1 CMC creature.
Turn 4: Land and Karn. Exile big creature in hand(Blightsteel, Eldrazi, etc.)
Turn 5: Exile card in opponent's hand or if you have another Karn in your hand. Land. 8 mana available.
Turn 6: Restart the game. Big creature for the win. Karn to destroy permanents.
That is if the opposing leaves your Karn alone... Like that would happen.
Sorin Markov because of -2 to put target player at 10 life
Knowledge Pool because of lockdown/randomness
Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur because of hand restrictions and his draw power
Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger because of mana restrictions and his mana generation
Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir because of lockdown/stopping counterspells and other good instances
Magister Sphinx see Sorin Markov
Furnace of Rath because of double damage
Darksteel Reactor because of "win the game"
Helix Pinnacle see Darksteel Reactor
Door to Nothingness see Darksteel Reactor
Serra Ascendant because turn 1 is BS
Forced Fruition because fear of mill

"Miracle 1{U} (You may cast this card for its miracle cost when you draw it if it's the first card you drew this turn.)"
You cast it when you draw it, not after you get to play a land.

I could think of a turn 3 lead with it in mono blue in extended or modern.
Turn 1:
Island
Training Grounds
Turn 2:
Island/any land
Mindshrieker
Turn 3:
Island/any land
use ability 3 times
attack

Lilliana with 5 abilities.
Creature and hand control.
Garruk with 1.
Something along the lines of destroy target planeswalker for 0 and starts with 7 loyalty.
They'd be balanced then.
