Heh, remember a month ago when I mentioned snapcaster and some people laughed at me?
At the same time, Blue is DEFINITELY not strong enough without Snapcaster
Snapcaster only gets better with every release and could one day be a problem as well. Not now though.
If snapcaster was banned right now we might as well pretend blue as a colour no longer exists.
Snapcaster is literally the only lifeline that whole colour has at this point.
Could you imagine the state of modern with no twin or snapcaster, would be interesting at the very least.
Maybe in the future it will be banned but blue will require some serious buffs before that could even be looked at happening.
Also a note, if the format ever got the to point we are banning snapcaster mage I could feel myself just leaving the format all together. There's only so much stuff you can ban before people start to lose confidence in the format and magic in general.
Hmmm....
The color that starts most combo decks, is the only one to interact with the stack, and still has amazing cards like Vendilion Clique, Cryptic Command, Vapor Snag (Criminally underplayed with all the Delve going on...), Thought Scour (A Dark Ritual that replaces itself for Delve. Seriously.....), Remand, and many others, would be pointless if Snapcaster Mage would be banned.
Ok.
And you decided to leave out all the other playable cards of the other 4 colors in comparison to blue? Could you give that alongside your analysis?
Maybe you should.
Maybe you should also actually try to play the format in a shell that doesn't require him, like Scapeshift (Where he's still a good creature, but not an auto 4 of). Maybe you should try to brew a new UR list or move on if you think UR's dead.
Alternatively, you can do what 90% of the format's players are going to do and just wait until a Pro figures a UR list or something out and jump on it. Because that's going to happen here pretty quick.
That's a really weird way of agreeing with me, but yeah, the pro's have yet to figure out a way to use more blue spells for dudes like you and me. I'm waiting there right alongside you too, hoping they'll come up with that list too. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's salty bro!

Here's what I've been toying around with on Cockatric.
I think the 3-4X Eye of Ugins I've seen in other builds are just too clunky. Same for Expedition Maps & Sylvan Scying, I find them to be too slow. The Thoughtseizes in this deck really hurt and I'm still trying to perfect this list (If it is possible). If anyone else has been trying a similar build or can give me some critique, please share.
Why? What are you thinking it is going to be better against now instead of the usual Path/Bolt/Decay suite?
It is more versatile against several matchups where as abrupt decay stops you from getting KO'd by splinter twin, but not anything Tron or Eldrazi decks can pump out. You can't path a planeswalker and there are a few that are relevant. And ramping an opponent isn't always that great.
I played UW and my partner played GB. I straggled in to play two headed giant and needed a partner. So did a young kid. So I got to dominate the decisions and we went X-0. I gave almost all the cards to the kid and kept an oath of nissa. Fun times.
I think that 4 expedition maps should be considered for this deck. It's effectively a ramp spell, and the utility is huge in tons of matchups (more ghost quarters, tomb of the spirit dragon, etc.). Additionally, it allows the deck to run a singleton wastes to have a better chance at fighting blood moon, which can be a problem otherwise. 5/60 is still not huge, but perhaps worth considering at least.
The tutor ability is a valid point, but Expedition Map does not ramp at all. It smoothes draws. You still can't play more than one land per turn.
"effective" being the key word. Tron playing their third land to make tron makes that land drop effectively a 4 mana land ramp.
As for the maps, I've seen enough play testing with this deck against tron to see why people are coming to this conclusion. Solving this deck (is it solvable) is alot of fun.
Interesting. The Wurm seems better than Emrakul for T2 shenanigans as the Eldrazi will only hit one land if the Bloom player is on the play. And then the bloom player will be out several cards, without extra lands comming into play from 2 Titan ETB triggers.
The pseudo titan chaining however isn't even close as the lands that allow the Titan to attack on Steroids won't be coming into play.
I'm sure there are other lines of play that are completely insane with that much mana so early in the game.
I have had extract in my maindeck for a long time now. But I know when I get into a group like this. The other AN player I didn't hit with it is just going to go off and win.
Awesome write up and a fun read. Now, can we get a CEDH banlist please?

I though G-quarter was tapped?
On another note, community members' responses to the OP are embarrassing and why I don't associate with a large portion of magic players.
Thanks for the spoiler if real.
