i'm a little confused. Chance Encounter states that you have to WIN a coin flip. does mana clash fit into that category? not that it's a bad choice, just not sure if that card triggers the OP card.
Mana Clash doesn't really have a winner, just a condition to end the flipping.
feels like vengevine doesn't have enough cheap creature spells to trigger it consistently. I second Heir of the Wilds if you're goign to run a 4 slot there, why not Bloodbraid elf?
so... i REALLY wanted to build around Rakdos Riteknife but after a while of tinkering i still can't get it to a place that i'm happy. so this is the jankiest pile of crap i've ever made given the amount of time i've spent on it. which is too much time at this point.
the idea is free creatures using aether vial so i can spend all my mana on activating the riteknife. if this isn't working, just rush them. If i can get riteknife big enough, i can force them to hit some lands, and then i can get ahead. i wanted to be able to activate riteknife as early as possible, but it's just such an expensive process that it's really not worth it. not a build around card. more of a support card. UNLESS you can find me a way to make it great haha.
echoing truth is strictly better than Disperse. Though I can understand using Disperse if that's all you have access to.
you still have no protection for your creatures, other than those that have it built in.
you still have no ways to ensure your creatures hit, other than flying
I'm not sure what your local playgroup plays, but my casual group knows how to put in cheap removal, so I'd never expect this deck to get off the ground.
You've also taken out some ramp that you had before, so it's even less likely you'll get your creatures out early enough to win vs any fast deck.
I feel like this revamp is not as strong as your previous version.
your mana leaks won't save you early game enough, and neither will your early creatures because you need them for utility, so blocking with them to save yourself just puts you in a more difficult situation where you can't use their utility to get out your big guys.
your best bet is to Superman this deck. basically put in enough stall, and protection that help you draw into 1 of your 3-4 bombs and keep that on the board, able to hit. So basically, a Control deck.
mizzium skin would be boss here. as well as Sheltering Word or Life's Legacy to refill your hand. can't cast any of those directly on Simic Sky dude, but you probably don't need to haha.
then there's stuff like monastery siege for protection, or hand fixing.
Echoing Truth is another option if you aren't ramping fast enough to cyclonic rift's overload. this would be a SB against token rush
I'm sure prophet is good here, but I just don't like paying that much for a small, easily removed body when you've got no protection in the deck. sure,, you COULD bounce it back to your hand, but that feels weak compared to a sheltering word or a mizzium skin (to me)
just maximize your ETB effects. and then bounce becomes pretty strong. also. bounce once you've blocked (provided they dont' have trample). only real problem with bounce is that you end up taking several turns to attack. it can be more effective to bounce an enemy creature sometimes.
I won't play EDH HOWEVER I do really enjoy trying to make a normal deck work with only 1-2 ofs of the really powerful cards that I enjoy. This keeps my circle of friends from thinking that i'm just spamming great cards. I like to build in a way that allows me to reuse, protect, save, call upon those really rare cards in my deck. I really enjoy resilient decks. that falls under several categories, and they don't always win, and I'm okay with that. I just want to find some interesting interaction between cards and make a deck that I enjoy playing. I also get bored pretty easily, so I've got over 50 decks, though I've retired some because they are either too powerful in my group, or because they are from when I first began and had a thing for lifegain lol.
Really close on the formatting, but I think you did too much work Try just quoting my post so you can see the format. Thanks for the conversion! NOW... to help
pyroclasm fights your Xenagos 0 ability
I was going to list a few other cards that might work better, but i'll just be a bum and share my RUG deck with you. It's cascade, so it's a little lower on the curve, but there might be some gems in there for you to enjoy.
I want to call attention to, in particular, that, just because you are "midrange" doesn't mean that you have to have all 4 drops. You can also check out maybe Madcap Skills and Temur Battle Rage and Temur Sabertooth (particularly good when bouncing something like a Coiling Oracle) . OH and Life's Legacy can be a great 1-2 of for some sweet card draw if it's really needed to grab responses to things. My concern with your deck is that it's TOO midrange. It needs a little more use of the amazing love that Temur brings as far as aggro control goes.
personally, i'd just play BW. use cards like the ones below. I'm sure you can manage to keep his board state in check and make it so that he runs out of steam. tokens to chump block, -x/-x to kill things, battle tricks to change the outcome. and these cards are good against most decks, so you will be building something interesting and useful overall.
I put together a RWB token thing that might help you think of some things. enjoy! There are some good White PW that work well here too, I just didn't put them in.
kumelker, i'm assuming you're new to the GMaD rules, or maybe you aren't. But now that we are over 75, we have to start cutting until 60. I believe the rule is that you can't add more than 75, so only 1 notion thief is actually in the deck and there is no more voting to increase any of these.
Since it doesn't seem like you're aware of the GMaD rules, could we get a Moderator in here to allow him to take his addition back if he wants to?
also. TheUnseen. yeah man. i know. i'm not sure either, but I wanted to see how everyone else felt about him. i figured a 1 of might be the only way to play him.
71 is correct! as of your post.
i don't quite agree with removing 2 go for the throat. 8 removal package seems to be working in my version of the deck. issues i've found so far. creatures aren't really good at being creatures: aka, blocking feels bad with them, attacking is meh (except for fliers), they just don't provide any real threat and the tap abilities seem too slow to actually get rid of the hand. so you end up dealing with a lot of creatures that hit the field on your opponent's side
but once I added more removal, the deck started performing like a champ. the only thing I have different in my final version is like, a wake thrasher singleton, only 1 seer, a 3rd macar and a 3rd deceit. i also love the loxodon warhammer I have in, but... when do you NOT love that card haha. If you don't like the full go for the throat, then maybe you'd like Far//Away?
I tried paradise mantle and was really disappointed by it, so i'm voting to remove it. it just doesn't give the deck versatility to tap anything at any time. voting it out in favor of springleaf drum if it gets added.
i'm going to add a singleton Phenax, God of Deception it's on theme in so many ways. i mean, it was designed to work with inspired triggers. he's a 5 drop, so... that stinks, but as a 1 of, i think he could be good. it was either him or Grimgrin, Corpse-Born might still consider him

I'd almost rather play coiling oracle in it's place with an alchemist's refuge in the lands.
