Give them a year, this year was ISD set's staples spike, next year Shocks and Abrupt Decay will have a field trip.
ISD's staples spiked because MM15 didn't include Innistrad.
If we see a new, yearly Modern Masters, and MM16 goes through Innistrad, then RtR-block staples will likely be the next thing to spike. Mostly Abrupt Decay, but Voice of Resurgence could go way up as well.)
If the next Modern Masters is 2017 and goes through RtR Block, we likely won't see this effect.
Note that this shouldn't affect shocklands too much one way or the other, as, at least so far, no rare lands have shown up in Modern Masters sets. The limiting factors on Shocks spiking are that A) they are played in considerably less quantity than Fetches in Modern, as most lists run ~8 fetches but only 4 or so shocks (at most - Jund for example runs ~8 fetches and 3-4 Shocks, UR Twin runs 7-8 fetches and 3-4 shocks, etc), B) there is no demand from Legacy for shocks.
wildfire393- Shocks should continue to show slow gains from here on out as they aren't being opened anymore and more and more people are joining modern and EDH. A spike isn't very predictable with this sort of card. It should just slowly continue to rise and then people will look back after three years time and they are all $20-$30.
As has been mentioned, it's no surprise that Abrupt Decay is one of the next staples set to rise. The card WILL spike over the next 12 months and we've already seen several upticks.
I guess I'm confused why we should be listening to a brand new user who comes in and keeps speaking of spikes and his "team" in regards to the inflation of magic prices.
So, 2 people mutually agreeing to a trade that isn't fair in your eyes = someone scamming someone else? Who says one party is necessarily "deliberately trying to grossly mislead someone"? And where do you draw the line? How do you determine whether a trade, in your eyes, is fair for other people?
If both parties have complete information.
And why is it your duty to make sure 2 free thinking individuals have "complete information" on a trade before making it? Do you not believe in the ability of others to make their own decisions based on whatever information they have at their disposal, or to seek out said information if they so choose without outside interference? And why do trade partners need "complete information" anyway?
Because without complete information an inequitable trade is inherently unfair. Now some people think that it doesn't matter what is or isn't fair and that's life, if you are going to trade educate yourself or risk the consequences. I don't think there is necessarily anything wrong with that, its just not the way I choose to conduct myself.
As a follow up let me lay out a situation for you. You are at your LGS and you see a moderately played revised underground sea for $170 and you consider this to be a pretty good deal and as such you buy it.
The person who rings you up isn't really a magic guy (maybe comic specialty or something else, my LGS sells sports memorabilia as well) and misreads the label on the card and rings you up for $70 instead of $170. The "magic expert" at the store would never do this as he knows an underground sea is obviously selling for more than $70.
Do you take the sea for $70 and think "too bad he didn't have perfect information", or do you say "hey man I think you made a mistake"?
According to your stance on trade you would take the card and run. You were both fair minded people who made a transaction.
In my opinion, and what I ended up doing, was pointing out the mistake to the guy. I had no issue doing this because it was the honest thing to do and I would want someone to do the same for me if I made a mistake like that.
And to answer your question: I'm an honest person.
But only honest when it comes to yourself right? It's ok for stores to get ripped off?
Didn't Seinfeld end with them getting arrested due to that reason?
Also...you said in your last post that you wouldn't help a stranger because its other peoples business. So I'm putting your own words in your mouth?
Everyone has their own moral compass but I would certainly not sit by and let someone trade a, to use the same example as before, a Confidant for an Ugin's Nexus - it's the same excuse people use when they don't help someone pick up groceries they dropped or other little things in life.
He doesn't get a pass on doing something most people frown upon because he "does so much for the community" which is posting a thread that shows what hes selling cards for.
What a ridiculous notion.
He's a scummy owner doing a scummy thing. He deserves to be posted here.
Also you've been a member here for a whopping 2 months...why are you acting like you somehow know what's best the the forum/community?
And to completely destroy your argument he has a ton in stock at 6$ today after "refunding" a ton last night. Thus, he's clearly not selling them at the price he was offering them at.
Attacking other users will not be tolerated. Infraction for flaming issued ~Duxx
The packs of 5 are going for that much? That's ridiculous. I'll just hope and pray they become basics for a set/block. That'll teach people to exploit their FREE cards.
What an absolutely ridiculous statement.
Selling rare things they get for putting in hundreds of hours growing the game and making obscene money for Hasbro. Those monsters.

Seems disingenuous at best.

It's a bit sad really Portlis.
Nearly all the prerelease promos were going for less than regular foils. I would have snap-taken 25 and 32 would've been insane.
He admitted it, we have a forum member who bought from his who says it happened, what more proof could we POSSIBLY need?
What a ridiculous notion.

They are still from 400-700 on ebay and I've seen most judges asking for 500-550+ on them in the FB groups.
Insanely rare and people "want/need" more than one and typically more than a couple.
I've also not heard of a single judge getting more than one pack.
And good on you for getting packs for 2$, that is an insane price and I don't know anyone who would sell them for that.
Boros Reckoner is 2$, Obzedat is 3$....how much lower can they go?
Literally adds nothing yet always predicts THE END OF MAGIC
Yes, little holographic stickers will be the end of magic. You figured it out, sell me your collection.
