Match 1- Mono Red: smashed face. Couldn't handle the fatties or the crazy life gain off gnaw. 2-0
Match 2- Mirror: Game one overwhelmed with fatties. Game two I kept a terrible hand, he got in early beats. I finally stabilized at 3 life and amassed an army that he couldn't deal with. 2-0
Match 3- Some weird GWR Splicer deck with Wurmcoil engine and Gavony Township: he got in some early beats and I chumped with my guys letting him get to 30+ life off Wurmcoil before I threw a hefty Splinterfright in front of it then bouncing his golem and death touch tokens with my adepts. Eventually gained life to stabilize and eventually overwhelm him with another splinter, tree and a geist. He conceded during side boarding. 1-0
Match 4- BG Wurmcoil?: MY mull to 5 on the play was tough but overcame. Dumped out quick fatties that he couldn't stop. Conceded beginning of game two after he drew. 1-0
Match 5- BUG Ramp: Game one he mulled to 5 and conceded. Game two he killed every threat I put out. Got out double Frost Titan keeping my pod tapped down and my only creature (Geist that I couldn't pay to tap down a Titan). Titan smash. Game three I had a really slow start, stuck on 3 lands with double Geist in my hand. Had pod out that he focused too much on keeping tapped so I chumped with skaabs until I was able to get 6 lands to Geist each turn to tap down titans, he play Wurmcoil, I top deck my third Geist to handle the wurm. I slowly beat down with Geist. He plays another wurm, top deck an adept to bounce wurm and kill. 2-1
I'll be changing out the daybreak's for archers and trying out spider spawning (1of) and blight widow tomorrow.
4 ruinator?! Why so many? I can see 2, 3 seems stretching it, but 4? I mean, Im sure it's more tailored to your meta (please dont take that the wrong way, just suprised) most lists i've seen only play 2. Whats the reasoning behind it? Archers seem to be becoming a big sb favorite now (which is understandable with Esper spirits), what are your thoughts on blight widow? I picked a couple up to test with tonight in the board. Have you given them a try and if so, how'd they work out?
I like the list, I may have to give it a whirl tonight on mtgo. I would change out the elves for birds though to help fix mana issues as well as for flipped daybreak rangers. Also your land count looks a few too low. Villagers look interesting.
I haven't gone through all 99 pages yet, but what thoughts do you guys have about Autumn's veil against control? And I like the boarding idea with splinterfright to daybreak/hex parasite/replica. Creeping seems ok for mid to late game against removal heavy decks, I'll haven to try that out. Back to the drawing board:)
I like the birthing pod idea and the 1-2 of's. Question, with birthing pod, can you Pod out a Revoker to counter a spell? Like if they play a spell bomb, can I pod out a Revoker naming spellbomb and prevent if from hitting the field? Cause if that's the case, pod is an amazing sideboard option.
I just noticed that you're running twenty land. I'd up that a bit. With four CMC 4+ cards, the Bloodghasts that mitigate mana flood, and thirsty Kalastria Highborn, I'd run twenty four lands. Personally, I'd drop the hand disruption to sideboard (if your casual group uses them) and put them in during creature-light match-ups, such as vs. control, over Terminate).
So you took out land, put in more creatures, added more cards (+60) and a mediocre enchantment? Seems like your going the wrong way. I like Sorin, but I don't think he really fits here, his ultimate is cool with bloodghast, but you don't have a sac outlet and your thinning your land count. I too like the Blightning idea, but dislike distress compared to duress, despise, inquisition etc.
Before I moved a couple months ago, my lgs would buy a case worth of different languages when they bought there first shipment of a set just so we could have foreign after hours drafts before the set came out. We would crack open a fat pack for the book, it slowed things down, but was def fun.
Love this show, it's almost like drugs, so addictive. Great story and the characters are amazing. Can't wait for the 5th season to start. I moved to Germany the day before the 4th season started, had to iTunes the season. I'm hoping they play it here so I don't have to spend $30+ to watch it.
