M14 is MTG's 20th birthday (Serra Angel is legal now, and in College.) They'll want to do something special. Possible shocks, or some other awesome dual land. I only say shocks because they want modern to be affordable, they're already double printing them (Dragon's maze having all 10). I doubt it but its possible.
Also we've had checklands for quite some time now, its about time they rotated and we got new ones.
First preview to actually excite me for constructed (non-EDH). If it lives through the turn it's cast, its a guaranteed 4 life point swing, that can be pretty huge, and its a 5/5 which isn't too bad. As far as 5 drops go, this one ranks up there with thragtusk, granted its harder to cast, doesn't make a 3/3 and can't block, its pretty high on the power curve.
Dimir Keyrune:
Another Keyrune with possible constructed applications. Reminds me a lot of Creeping Tarpit but accelerates and is easier on the mana. I can see this one being played as an alt wincon (replacing or working in conjunction with Drownyard) Alas, if it was only Shroud/Hexproof
Lazav, Dimir Mastermind:
Speaking of EDH, I have a new general brewing... Heck, may even see constructed play if we get a decent mill-style deck. BUG Mill into big nasties that get copied? Possible combo with Chronic Flooding? Mayhaps. I wouldn't even mind it as a sideboard hate against dredge 3.0. Might be too slow for that however.
First previews I actually like. And here I was thinking this set would be complete poops.
Well, if they're fake they're the most well done fakes I've ever seen. (... in the last 6 years or so) The only thing that makes me concerned is the framework for Domri. Hes not poping out of his frame, however I can see the artwork under the text box so... Even the quotes are pretty close to WOTC style quotes.
Edit: I've seen the enter the infinite artwork somewhere (not the call to mind, which its based off of), Ijust can't quite remember where...
Eh, good find, hope the guy doesn't face serious jail time for taking a few cards off the line
EDIT: I'm currently rethinking my "he isn't type 2 playable" stance. It really all depends on what sources of card advantage Black gets. I heavily doubt he will be playable, since there aren't many ways to utilize his benefit without constructing your deck around him (Losing consistency).
He's definitely not playable in eternal formats; Omniscience is a better Sneak-Show card because it's Blue and can put Griselbrand into play.
On a sidenote, as somebody who only found out about the post-combat main phase a year after getting into Magic (I started with the Portal starter set), this card is a great learning tool.
He could fit in easily in BR Zombies. Even a bad curve with Messenger then Rakdos would be pretty consistent to activate him.
Pictures of the guild symbols are not even an inkling of proof that the signets specifically are coming back. Those could be anything. Could be an entirely new cycle of signets, some of them could be for the presumed Charm cycle, or something else entirely. All you know is that there is a cycle that involves the guild symbol - big surprise there.
Agreed. They could even be the extra lands cycle for all we know, ie play with guild oriented basic lands, available in only the release/prerelease sets. Entirely speculation, but we really can't confirm a card type/cycle based on the card art alone.
Been quite a long time since I last smiled like this over a preview. Out with the bad and in with the good times. Definitely an improvement in card quality in regards to the last duel deck.
Also a fan of the Izzet mechanic. Just as flavorful as scavenge, but a hell of a lot more interesting.
I have to agree, so far every card spoiled is playable in constructed in some form or another, especially the charm. So much utility in a single card, everything is highly relevant (as opposed to the last cycle of charms where at least one mode was pretty useless, I'm looking at you Shards of Alara)
Need to start saving money now for constant MTGO drafts of this set
Am I the only one who finds this somewhat underpowered and/or unimpressive?
You're paying 5 cmc, double white, it's mythic rarity and it's just a 5/3 flying unless you happen to control a human?
UW would rather drop Gideon on turn 5. I see no reason for this.
I mean, give it First Strike, or Vigilance, or a 5/5 body, or make it cost 2WW (possibly a combination of two of those things) and then it might be worth consideration.
I completely agree, Heck make it 1WW THEN its mythic. Otherwise, its strictly worse than most Red creatures at the common slot.
I dont like it... It doesnt work in control decks at all... It can only be good in aggro-ish decks
It should have been "Exile a card" instead only creatures imo
As said before, this card is amazing for a cawblade style control deck. Lose a dude? Replace it. If your only objective is to have dorks (with evasion preferred) that can hold a sword, this card is amazing. Once the first dork dies, you just bring it back.
Actually, because of the cost, this card would be mediocre in an aggro deck as you'll have better things to spend your mana on than a 1/1 flier.
All in all, this is a very solid card, and will continue to be until the swords rotate. After that.. meh.
Oblg. EDH statement: OMG THIS GOES IN MY ~ DECK! (actually, it would fit well in my WU aggro deck... hmmmm wrath of god this...)
MTGO is the answer. I'm sure it'll be up to draft constantly for a while.
And wow this card is wordy.
2B: Black Aura
Indestructible
Enchanted Creature is Indestructible, gains lifelink, first strike and...
yeah its bad. I hope it isn't an aura.
Maybe an enchant planeswalker? ooo

So, how is drafting going to work, Maze, Gatecrash, RtR? Ugh, I was hoping for another large triple, make things interesting. =(

Nice find, but hardly conclusive.

Sadly, it will be devoid of all women, and parking is a pain, and the nearest place to eat is about 5 blocks away, and the neighbors hate us.
