My opponent is attacking me with a Pyreheart Wolf. I have a Avacyn Pilgrim available and 3 mana. Can I declare block with Avacyn Pilgrim, tap it for mana, cast restoration angel and block with both creatures? Thanks
Funny story, let me start by saying I took my MBC build to a small legacy tournament at a local shop. Out of 6 players (yes, very small I know), I placed 2nd, with a friggin Type 2 deck, and the guy who placed first, I beat him 2-0 in the last game.
If you're wondering why I brought a T2 deck to a Legacy tournament, well, I just happened to be there playing casual matches and they had an odd number of players, so I decided to join in. I only had my MBC deck with me.
Matches:
1) Mono-Red Burn, won, (2-1-0): Snow Covered Mountains, Wheel of Fortune, and tons of burn, and burn spells that allowed him to draw cards. One of the cards allowed him to draw three cards unless I took 5 damage, I knew better and took the damage and sustained my life total by casting Tendrils on my own Gatekeepers. Nighthawks also kept me alive but died quickly to burn. I Duress'd and Mind Sludge'd to deny him cards. When I put out a Persecutor turn 4, he had to use up 3 cards to remove 1... I had card advantage up his ass. It was the worst match up for him.
2) Omnath, Ramp, Chameleon Colossus,? lost, (1-2-0): This guy had a weird deck that ramp'd faster than any ramp I've ever seen, and put out big fatties and had a Chameleon Colossus pumped to 18/18 coming at me quick. I wrecked multiple Omnaths with Smothers. He kept destroying my swamps. It was a hard match up. The game that I won, I was able to use Fleshbags and Gatekeepers to keep his mana dorks and even a Chameleon Colossus dead. I even boarded in Pithing Needles to prevent Colossus' activated ability, among other cards he had.
3) Enchantress, won, (2-0-0): You'd think I'd be screwed with Enchantress, with something like Elephant Grass and whatnot. I kept killing his Argothian Enchantress with sacrifice effects from Fleshbag. Turn 5 Mind Sludge ruined him. The guy wasn't too familiar with Standard, but he was surprised at Mind Sludge's power level. The last game was EPIC. He had Solitary Confinement, Elephant Grass, Enchantress's Presence, blah blah blah... all of that out. We thought it was over, but then I started building an army of vampires, I had something like 2-3 Nighthawks and 3 Gatekeepers out I got a Bloodwitch in hand, cast it, her ETB ability triggers of course. Whatever, then next turn I play Liliana, tutor another Bloodwitch to the top of my library, next turn, play her, again ETB ability damage, lifegain, etc. And I tutored the 3rd one in my library to the top and it was GG next turn.
Fun times.
Legacy tournament? Nice, you did surprisingly well for having a T2 deck. You should toss some Damnations in your deck FTW...
You can still declare blockers and tap the blockers, they will still block and do damage. Your creatures won't die because the stack needs to be empty before damage is dealt, and by the time the stack is empty, they will be 3/3s and the 5/5 will be a 2/2
Kor Firewalker
2/2 cmc 2 makes him a bear and he has a built in dragon's claw! bearclaw!

it is a 3 cast, but 4 if you kick it to destroy a nonbasic. It just works so well with all the tri lands and manlands running around
