It really just seems like heavy guys in magic have REALLY bad reps. Your thoughts?

I think the image of the "fat nerd" has been prevalent for decades, and the Simpson's "Comic Book Guy" and other portrayals in the media only strengthen that perception.

On a larger scale, fatness in modern America is generally associated with poor eating habits, a lack of self control and/or willpower. I think when you add that stigma on top of the "nerd" stigma associated with MTG, it only compounds the problem.

Griefers and easy combo decks will always exist, though I've found that playgroups usually adapt to these strategies via shunning, self censoring, or other modes of regulation. Frankly, nothing should be banned in EDH. If a player is ROFLing the table with Emrakul, it's very likely that the other players will begin to adapt to that strategy via ganging up or disruption.

I understand why the rules committee makes the decisions they make, though I wish they had more faith in the ability of playgroups to self regulate degenerate (or perceived as degenerate) cards.

In trying to keep a "realistic tone" with an inherently unrealistic plot (nukes, city-wide hostage scenarios, etc), Nolan set up TDKR for failure on both accounts. Even the "nuke" resolution mirrored The Avengers and what Iron Man did.

In the comics, Bane breaks Batman's back then consolidates Gotham's criminal empire under him. I think Nolan should have gone with that, rather than trying to make sweeping pronouncements about society.

TDK was an important film, possibly one of the most influential of our generation (certainly one of the most iconic). I doubt TDKR will ever boast any such distinctions.

He's gotten more pretentious (RE: "ponderous" or "meditative" in film student terminology) as time has progressed.

Badlands is a classic film though!

Fantastic game; it's only about 10 hours long but it's one of the best games I played back on the ps2. I hope they finally release the sequel whenever the new Sony system comes out (PS4?)

That's the way it should be.

Some dramas are compelling in a lulzy way but this was personal for several of us, and many of us pride ourselves on not getting "srs" about this site. But it happened (the gloves came off for more than one of us). I think we'll move on though, since nobody got ragebanned or anything.

Funny story, I was the first mod accused of being a "neckbeard" in CI.

Frox is exactly right. We just witnessed the Civil War of all dramas, where battle lines were drawn, friends became enemies, and punches were not pulled.

Now, in the rebuilding stages, we must caution ourselves against going overboard. We should try to get back to normal without radically redefining what "normal" means for site policy.

Wanted to note that I've already talked to one member about this. Unfortunately, there's no way for us to move votes. But the comment int he thread is enough anyways.

Don't get me wrong, the idea of this tribunal has entirely the best intentions. The problem is that we do not need a proposal like this for the future, since I highly doubt we'll ever see this scenario again.

I would wager that this drama is a sobering lesson to current and future admins that the vetting process for admin should be meticulous and thorough. Maybe give all new admins a one month trial run to see how they handle the job before making their role permanent?

That seems like a cleaner proposal.

I wish I could change my vote from "yes with alterations" to "no."

Just because it took forever to remove one problematic admin does not mean we need to create a bunch of red tape for future dramas.

The key factor in all this is that MTGS never witnessed an "entrenched admin" before so we feel the need to put safeguards in place in case that happens again.

EDIT: The idea of a srs sounding "tribunal" on a card website also seems ridiculous, even for CI standards.

The most important casting decision left is clearly Mance Rayder.

There have been all kinds of fan suggestions, my personal favorite of which is Mads Mikkelsen, but I haven't heard any rumors as to who they might actually cast.

Mikkelsen is a great choice tbh.

Sometimes a person can find some truly poignant things in nature. I have never run across a curious grave though. I know you are not in the humanities, but if that moment really spoke to you, you could write a short story, poem, or journal entry to preserve it (though pictures work too).

The killer apparently referred to himself as "The Joker."

I wonder if we'll find out if his motivations were political, social, religious, or if he was just plain crazy (though I realize you can be crazy in tandem with having the other listed motivations).
