1) I already moved out of my toxic waste-adjacent apartment
2) I'm currently saving to move to BC
3) My only reason for staying is financial. I simply don't have the money to live elsewhere (yet). I don't have much love for my hometown. -

I'm going to be blunt. My two-way street of family drama is a touchy subject for me. Especially now. I only brought it up because I felt the need to vent and this is the best place. My real life friends would only offer sympathy, and I'd rather avoid the chick flick moments. Little risk of those here. But my venting doesn't mean I'm looking to share my 'pain' beyond that. -
Jan 27, 2007mikeyG posted a message on My Life As An OrphanI'd consider myself once burned, twice shy. I'm more jaded than cynical. I'm only pessimistic about the motives of people who have given me reason to be.Posted in: {bloggyG}

I think it's funny that he's Scientology's Christ. He didn't even start the damn cult or have anything at all to do with its founding, he's just the idiot with the highest profile. -

Which I totally did. I always thought blogs were rad. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
I suppose I worded that poorly. What I meant was that the show doesn't treat the stereotypically flamboyant characters as stereotypes (unlike say Queer Eye or Will & Grace, which are all about stereotypes for stereotypes' sake), but as full characters representing that section of the community. I just don't view these characters as stereotypes because QAF has a wide array of characters who don't fit these stereotypes so the cast as a whole is a more or less realistic portrayal of the gay community.
Although my quote may vaguely suggest otherwise, I wasn't saying these stereotypes don't exist.
As far as I'm concerned, both parties faltered in some way. DotP for loudly and IMO disrespectfully denying the teacher instead of going to her in private and explaining his reasons for not wanting to donate (whatever those reasons are). The teacher, I think was not in error for telling DotP his opinion was wrong, but for doing it in front of a whole class. Though DotP left himself open for it by voicing his opinion in front of everyone, I just don't like it when teachers humiliate students in public.
Actually, that's life for many gays. And if you bother to look past the stereotypes (though, technically no one on the show is really much of a stereotypes, can't be a stereotype if there are actual people out there like that.) and look at the larger issues in the show, you'll find it's very representative of real life. Just in a soap opera-y way. Adoption, gay rights, homophobes, family, aids, marriage: these are all concepts on the show which are quite important to the gay community.
Speaking of gay marriage (yeah, remember that, the topic? heh), I still maintain that there is no non-religious reason to refuse gays the right to choose to marry. And even the religious reasons make no sense to me since they generally spring from religions I am not a part of.
I wouldn't suggest that. Instigating a fight only reduces him to her level, and that's somewhere no one wants to be. By all means lay into her should she bring the fight to him, but it's never wise to pick a fight. Especially here in this situation. He needs to keep himself looking like a better friend than the ex in the caught-in-the-middle friend's eyes. Picking at the ex only makes him look like crap, whereas being patient might reward him with the ceremonial re-dumping of the ex from everyone's lives.
But, as always, your mileage may vary.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I must go start a fire. My igloo is cold and my pet polar bear needs to go for a walk.
Best you can do is just rise above, if you and Jess want to be friends, there's not a thing Krissi can say about it. Same goes for something happening between Rob and Jess. Krissi can just go stick her thumb in her mouth elsewhere cuz eventually no one will want to be around a catty, controlling *****-on-wheels.
Sorry, might've been projecting there for a sec. My bad.
So, where's my pat?
ETA: Oops. Adding just one word can really help make a point, huh?
In my opinion, these shows are pitiful, and in many cases downright insulting/embarassing to watch. The only reality show I watch is The Amazing Race, simply because it was created before the craze, so it had to be a quality show to survive the scripted shows which dominated until Survivor hit it big. Nowadays all these shows need to succeed is a bit of scandal, mix in a bit of mature content, fold into a heap of outrageous situations and serve to a completely idiotic audience.
I swear, people complain about reality TV, but they don't realize the real problem is the masses of people across North America who think eating cow asses or horse nuts is good TV. *sigh*
Lost
Scrubs
Family Guy
The Amazing Race
The Daily Show
Veronica Mars
I watch a few other shows once in a while, but these are the ones I watch at every opportunity. I used to watch Alias, but it got so horrid that I broke that bad habit. Though I still read Regina's wicked recaps at TWOP. heh
See ya, Subbie. Don't let the door hit you on the ass as you get tossed out on it.
ETA: I'm not 'whatevering' anyone here, just the topic of Sub Spirit itself.
Heh. Not to be a dink or anything, but we've been separate from the monarchy for a long while. Queenie isn't in control, most places barely even recognize that the British royalty ever had control. I haven't seen a picture of the Queen in school since I was very little, and that's only because my teacher was old enough to have been one of the first settlers who came here. Don't mind me, I'm just bugging in good humour.
As for the topic, I really like my Canadian government as it is. I haven't taken a poli-sci class in years, so I'm admittedly rusty on the topic of government, but I have no complaints about how my country is run and organized. I'd love to pay less taxes, but as long as the money is going towards cool stuff like our awesome (more or less) health care system, I don't mind paying.
