the deck can possibly survive against aggro. you just have to make it to turn 4.
turn 2 you can cast the greatheart, even if its just a chump blocker. or cast incinerate if your running it, to remove something.turn 3 stink drinker with turn 4 brion (still with 2 mana open) and now you can at least gain some life back. or stall the opponent from immediately attacking. from then on you can start casting any of your big men, and oblivion ring/crib swap against anything nasty.
and arbiter of knollridge is definately a good idea in place of the cloudgoats. he will reset your life total and now all your creatures will be far superior to the weenies your opponent has.
elves can be competative, they just need more testing and tuning, than goblins and kithkins. they have lots of tools, and probably the best "reveal another" creature if the cyce. speaking of the vanquisher..whats with ppl putting only 1 or 2 in their deck lists..you absolutely WANT this guy on the board turn 2..
prowess of tha fair is a great idea, at least for the sideboard for anti wrath. masked admirers also works against wrath as well, since you can recur it, plus net another card. plus you get yoru championed elf back from packmaster after wrath too. not to mention access to black for something like footbottom feast if you were really worried about post wrath. i think elves have more reslience with this stuff, than the kithkin do versus mass removal.
packmaster has won me SO many games thanks to his deathtouching wolves, its not even funny. sure he costs 4 mana, but its not PLUS the cost of a creature... It comes back REMEMEBR. and if you can manage to champion something with a citp ability, then even better. i would vote packmaster and oonas prowler. that card is just plain GOOD
The problem with stuff like consume spirit is it just isn't very good anymore without stuff like cabal coffers.
consume spirit has never been played with cabal coffers in standard...
and consume spirit has always been playable in mono black control.
i think it still deserves 2 spots in the deck. its a great top deck against almost anything. unless your opponent is playing blue with a handful of cards, its gonna be useful
alright after alot of testing i ve come to a conclusion
this deck will only work in a goldfishing style meta i.e. more control and less aggro.
its somewhat hard to consistently beataggro with this deck...just not good.
ill be putting this on the backburner for now but continiously work on it.
helps? thoughts?
have you tested brion stoutarmyet?
hes a bigger threat post wrath, and also helps in the aggro match with the lifegain. His fling ablity can help to swing things to your favor, or try to finish off control opponents. and if you can have a brion and a mirror entity out, you can turn your mogg fanatics into 4 or 5 damage to the opponents head.
my box started off pretty bad...with 3 spellshifts in the first 10 packs, and 3 mesa enchantresses...then the good stuff started coming. i ended up with THREE akroma. 2 damnation, and 2 extirpates. the rest of the box was very bleh, but i cant complain about those 7 rares. pretty much makes back what i spenton the box with just those 7 rares.
assassinate, strangling soot, and sudden death are all very good removal in limited. even the others are still quite decent. not counting pthisis, (being that its so different from regular removal) all those black removal spells should see heavy play.
omg why woudl they reprint squire...ugh thats so plain and boring...when i heard of the reprints i envisioned stuff with abilities and such, like morph, flanking, echo, etc.
real real real i say. he said he played with a friend. cracking packs and playing with the cards. obviously he has seen a lot of different cards. how can he be expected to remember all the details. and maybe its a friends store that has product. and he didnt want to write stuff down cuz his friend might not have wanted him too, or he didnt want his friend to know he was taking the info straight to a website to post it. there is nothing in there that screams FAKE to me. the way leaks happen now, and the crackdown on sources, i dont think FIRST TIME POSTER! OMG FAKE FAKE can be used as a reasonable point against someone, anymore...
a nice batch of cards here!
i think a bunch of people still havnt noticed that lightning axe cant hit players...its decent, but not INSANE like some are saying. its nice to be so cheap and have a discard outlet. should see play in red with madness.
The goblin could combo with our new kavu. then at least we dont have to pay 12 mana for 2 damage and a 4/2 creature. The assassin looks pretty good, but also maybe a bit too hyped by people. the madness makes the card IMO. without many black cards in hand, its basically like a keening banshee. so it better be in a deck that can make use of his madness cost.
i dont see this in ANY way wizards running out of ideas. and i also dont see how ppl can complain about throwbacks and similar names for cards that came out before many players on this site were still learning how to write the alphabet. these cards came out over 10 years ago!! start complaining about time spiral when wizards unveils a 4/4 called ghost council of urborg, a white creature named light confidant, firemane seraph, rumbling predator, trygon pontiff...then i think you should complain. but cards, designs, and names that havnt been seen on 10 years? everything old is new again, and in a good way. it definately took a lot of hard work to come up with this set. not just them slapping halves of old card names together.
yay...another wurm...right on the heels of panglacial wurm...give us a cooler creature type please!! or at LEAST make it interesting. maybe with morph. but then maybe it woudl turn out plain like this:
*cool new wurm cuz green doesnt have any better creature type* -6GG
morph 3GG

its been a while since we have seen a playable board sweeper..akromas vengeance, and then oblivion stone. other than that i dont think kamigawa, or ravnica brought anything to the table.
well hopefully they cost it low enough to be playable this time. What was the name of the legendary one from kamigawa block...4 mana to return it to your hand, plus 4 mana to play again to copy somehting new...yuck
The vampire is a good card, don't get me wrong, but his removal evasion is not all that great. The turn you cast it you probably won't have mana open for the disappearing trick, and even if you do, you probably won't have mana open to protect the bat. If you already have access to that much mana, it's better to run Angel of despair or something like that. I prefer Skeletal vampire to Sengir nosferatu for both versality, card advantage and immunity to burn (at least the first couple of burn spells). Against a slow deck, both are pretty nasty, but against fast decks, Skeletal vampire seems better.
i think its tough to say which is better...The thing i hated about skeletal vampire is he died to last gasp. sengir wont die to last gasp. or helix, or hammer. he would come out a turn later than skeletal, so that you have mana to remove him from the game...also, if he is to be killed, (assuming you gave 1B open) then your opponent needs 2 removal spells. so at least your getting a 2 for one. but skeletal also has the option to make a ton of bats, should the game be in a stall...
