Quote from ThoObe »What's going on with that set's font and color?!
Looks like Wizards wants some more little girls playing their card game. Also fits with their Twilight theme.
That or scare away insecure males which this game has way too many of.

Quote from DrendDragonspawnI can understand liking the good things and the recent success of wotc does say they are doing more right than wrong, but it doesn't negate the wrong. The fact that he disregards the opinions of the ACTUAL majority shows he is utterly irresponsible, and shouldn't be in charge of anything.

Quote from ValarinMake it three. Almost every set he has been lead designer on has been terrible. He has zero formal design training (he has a communications degree and was a third string writer on the tail end of Roseanne's run), and basically lucked into one of the greatest jobs in the world by making Magic puzzles for the Duelist before MTG was popular and chumming it up with people at WoTC. He knows he lacks the skills or design chops to do anything else, so once he got into WoTC he rooted himself there and will probably never leave until he dies.
Truly talented people are sought out for their skills and try new and different things in thier industry. Look at Richard Garfield and the breadth of games and companies he has applied his talents to. MaRo is a classic example of the Peter Principle in action. He is MTG's David Brent: an inept designer enamored with himself and his perception of his own abilities.

Quote from Wrathberrystill why should it be impossible? the slot where it fits is still there.
and sets had many incomplete cycles. just remember the 1 splitmana creatures? just another example for an incomplete cycle.

Quote from itachiitachi
Why would people shift card if supply meets demands? "I can get thoughzise for $10 so now I want duress instead"
Quote from itachiitachi
More people buying the product = incentive for people to buy sealed product.
Quote from itachiitachiThe only reason most people want MM is because it is speculated that the EV will be high above the Retail price.
You seemed to have totally missed the two main points of the statement.
1. What has been revealed of MM so far isn't doing much to make it more accessible.
2. If modern is more accessible more people will buy modern cards.
Quote from itachiitachi
Even if MM had an unlimited supply I doubt goyf would drop by more than 20%.
Quote from The_USAgentMaybe I'm in the minority in this but I hate the new Dark Confidant art, a lot.
I'm glad I have my playset of "Bob" and not this "Skrillex" art.

Quote from euknemarchonGalspanic, I understand you think of moderators as responding to user complaints and trying to shore up PR problems and all that. And I think you're right that they theoretically do those things. But as far as the public face goes, the moderators can come across as monolithic and seem to have some incentives to back each other up in public, to keep the majority of users happy by treating the unpopular in a certain way, etc. In other words, the mods doing their jobs very well can still come across as law-and-order-type pricks. My main idea would be to have somebody who isn't a mod and whose position almost as an adversary reviews the mods or advocates for users or otherwise. The person can act as a gatekeeper for user complaints. That way if there's ever a question about whether somebody got banned for good reasons, this person can look and respond to the public that "Hey, I'm not a mod, and the mods did a fine job here."
Another use for this position would be handling appeals of moderator actions. By having somebody who's not a mod look it over and tell you that your appeal won't go anywhere or compose a much more civil appeal PM somewhere, maybe the procedures would get a little better.
Anyway, it's just a thought.

Cthulhu has always been though.
There is no need for any creation story for the magic version of "the old ones".
The creation story for Eldrazi should be "time began, and there were Eldrazi".

These aren't anything close to fake.
Noone fakes an entire pack of cards. It takes far too much effort and nuance to fake a marginal red common. Even RnD has a hard time making cards like structural distortion.
1
Noone has advance information about bans, they are just assuming, and the assumption has been around for the past few b/r announcements.

Yes, because WOTC doesn't have market research or testing groups or anything like that.
Come on.
Edit: Also, how many questions could be raised about this mechanic? 100% of the questions are because the mechanic wasn't explained with the spoilers.
If they spoiled Wastes and said "This is the new colorless mana symbol. Some costs can only be paid with colorless mana now. GENERIC mana in costs is unchanged" there would be no confusion.
1
Oath has 20 expeditions.
10 will be creature lands, as that 10set will be completed in BFZ, and it fits the going theme of having some cards in the set proper as expeditions.
10 will be filters, because modern.
1
Colorless is not a color and Wastes does not have a land type.

Has noone pointed out the problem with this image?
It is supposed to be a picture someone took of a card, at the standard semi-awkward angle.
But it has a visible mouse cursor IN THE ART OF THE CARD.

Whispers of the muse sees no modern play
Boomerang sees no modern play
3+ mana counterspells don't see play in modern
Turnabout is never used in modern
And yet...
Modal spells are the sum and versatility of their parts.
Compare them to previous commands, not combinations of existing spells, jeez.

This card is good.
Not amazing, but certainly going to see play.
