Well, I went 1-3 with my Bant Exalted last night ._. I guess I made my deck too focused on trying to topple Kithkin and 5cc, that it couldn't adequately answer other decks. Though I could argue that my draws were never good, in any game. Seriously, that isn't a cop out. I mean, if I'm gonna lose because I've been out-played, that's fine, I can accept that, but to lose because my deck wants to give me filter lands and mana-producers, with no actual mana lands until I'm already dead ._. Here's the list I settled on running(my friend didn't have any extra Glacial Fortress I could use);
Game 1 was a 1-2 loss to R/G aggro. Pretty bad draw quality game 1 and 3.
Game 2 I'm against my brother, playing Jund, and I lose 0-2 after not drawing more than like 5 creatures total for the match, 2 of those being Forge-Tender being dead versus Everlasting Torment both game 2 and 3.
Game 3 I won 2-0, but versus jank Bant. He was a cool dude though, he had a lot of older cards he had with him in a binder, like Beta dual lands, Ali from Cairo, Sinkhole, etc, so it was a cool nostalgia trip to look through it.
Game 4 I lose 1-2 versus another jank Bant, game 1 I get a decent hand with Flooded Grove, Mystic Gate, 2 Hierarchs, and a Steward...but I never draw a single land until his land hosed hand whittles me away with a pair of Steward of Valerons. Game 2 my deck does what it's supposed to do, War Monk swing with Rafiq and Finest Hour = Good Game. Game 3 I keep a nice hand with 2 Islands...and again, I never see another land all game.
I don't know why this happens to me. I should've played my R/B Vampire Control, at least I could have gone 2-2 with that, heh. Then again...my Vampires only have 19 lands(with 4 Borderpost), and I still finish 80% of my games with 10-12 lands on the battlefield...
This guy is gonna be awesome for my Vampire Control deck. w00t. He'll be the perfect replacement for Hypnotic Specter as a 2/2 for 1BB. Adding Deathtouch to my already vast removal is just icing on the cake.
1st of all, please don't type in all italics. It's very hard for me to give you advice if I can't read what you're saying.
2nd, Vanguard, Captain, Ranger, and Honor can all go. They do not work right for Bant at all (we actually just had a discussion about this if you want to look back a few pages.) Use those extra spots for your Elspeth, Steward, Knotvine, and maybe Jace (he works against 5CC pretty well.)
You think the Jace should be main decked, or SB? I'm guessing SB, as it's only there for the cc match-ups.
Hmm...I actually threw a Bant-Exalted deck together(I only had one ready, and my bro wanted something to play) just earlier today. Any feedback on what I'm doing right/could be doing better? I think it's geared a bit more towards aggro than control(I also lack virtually any BIG Lorwyn block cards as I came back into the game around Conflux or so).
Okay, first of all, I know my mana-base is terrible. I don't have much for that, sans a playset of Ancient Ziggurat and Exotic Orchard. Would that help? I think I could borrow the corresponding filter lands from a friend of mine so I might be able to help remedy that mana issue. Other than that, I read some of the other builds here, and mine looks a bit different, trying to run a few more soldiers, then running Ranger of Eos to help fish out Hierarchs and Vanguards(similar to what Kithkin does with Ranger for Forgetender and Figure. I wish I had more Rangers for this to work(if it's a decent strategy). Aside from that creature wise, do you think my running of Dauntless Escort main deck is a bad idea(I mean, with no Wrath and all) and I've got a few things I could replace him with.
Other spells look fairly "conventional" sans my use of Broken Ambitions and Shield of the Oversoul. I'm thinking Broken would be better as Negate / Bant Charm? Shield is there as it's pretty nuts with Rhox War Monk (10 point indestructible swing every turn? Yes please!) Though maybe it isn't as good as it seems(there is always Path after-all...) though I do only run 2 Shields main.
Anyway, sorry for the HUGE post, but I'd <3 any help I could get. I'm currently working on B/R Vampire Control for ZEN's introduction, and I'd like to get this Exalted deck going as well to at least give me some kind of variance to play when I go to FNM.
i didnt know blockers chose the way damage is delt! i thought it was the other way around. not that it matter'd since i won that match. i went 2-0 every match except for that one vss 5cc...i had him
That's because they don't. The attacking player orders the blockers, which ones are assigned to be dealt damage first.
I can't get Rackling as that block hasn't been released yet on MTGO. And Vision Skeins is a budget replacement for Mine as the Mine is like $4 a piece. O_o
Hmm...thanks for the feedback(I totally forgot about Spiteful Visions, but it's a shame MTGO only has one in stock ). I'm not sure about Stupor/Hymn though, as I'm trying to hit everyone at once. Here's what I think I have so far. I think once I can find three more Spitefuls, they'll replace the other three Nyxathids?
Hi, I recently made a casual deck on MTGO using the Burning Inquiry/Megrim/Underworld Dreams combo. It's okay for single matches, but it's terrible for multiplayer as all that discard stuff is forced to spread out and lighten my total damage output overall. So, my question for other people here is, if I want to make this deck viable in multiplayer, what should I remove/switch around? I want to keep this deck in Std BTW.
Now, I have a couple ideas, like Hypnotic Specter and Mind Rot are cut as he isn'tas effective in a larger FFA, and instead I bring in Kederekt Parasite(do I really have the permanents to support him)? As this is for multiplayer, maybe I could do good with Delirium Skeins and (splashing blue) Vision Skeins? Maybe I might keep Nyxathid in as a win condition?
I appreciate any feedback. Like I said, this is just for casual Std in MTGO multiplayer.
EDIT: I just realize I fail for wanting this to stay in Std and wanting to run the Skeins at the same time >_>. Anyway, you guys get the idea. Maybe the Skeins aren't worth messing with in the first place?
round 2: RB vampire control. game 1 I get a ridic hand of, if I remember, 3 knights, 2 cenns and 2 lands, and it just kept getting more ridiculous. second game, I just kept pathing his nocturnus's (nocturni?).
RB Vampire Control? O_o What the heck is that? I reckon it's a pretty solid deck once it gets going. Or at least, I like the way the theme of it sounds. >_>
Good job on the joint-first place Friday night too.
Alright first of all, I got a couple of other cards for my deck, most notably Kodama's Reach(finally lol) and Seedguide Ash. so w00t.
***
Naya Charm is awesome... returning any card is important, killing a utility creature can be important, alpha striking your opponent to death, priceless.
For mana accelerants, I like Gilded Lotus and Thran Dynamo both which give you 3+ mana and right away. I am not a fan of Trace and Rampant Growth because they only give you one mana... although the same could be said about signets, however they mana fix whereas Trace needs two colored mana and Growth needs one. I would even prefer Wood Elves or Farhaven Elf to Rampant Growth. For 1 you get a body (i.e. chump blocker) as well as thinning your deck and mana accelerating and fixing.
Hmm...I don't have Thran Dynamo/Gilded Lotus(those would be NUTSO with mana reflection). I suppose I could look into those, see how my shop prices them.
I'm not sure why you have Song of Serenity in your deck... unless you play against Uril a lot (then it's justified). Otherwise I would at least play Flickering Ward so you have a way to capitalize on Song and maybe even use it on Rith to get through some blockers.
Lol, three of the people I've played against have an Uril deck. And there's only like 4 or 5 people in my FNM group that plays the format. >_<
I can't see why you would need the Unstable Frontier and I feel the lairs are just horrible (especially since Shard's tri lands came out). Green has enough mana fixing that you don't need to stunt your growth to attain access to all three colors.
I have the Frontier as a backup measure if I am missing a colour, though I will probably replace it once I come across a Stomping Grounds.
He's nice, but I've done most of this with cards I already had lying around. Plus, he can be a little more durable than Apocalypse by regrowing counters(which with Doubling Season, is incredible)
Do you not like running Wraths? Maybe a Myojin of Cleansing Fire will suite the deck since you can fetch it with Congregation at Dawn (and Worldly/Sylvan Tutor if you can get those). Also, Duplicant is really good at dealing with most of your creature problems.
TBH, I don't have any wrath effects sans Martial Coup. But as my creatures tend to be fairly large, I like the big damage sweepers like Inferno as my dudes can survive it moreoften than not, while my opponents' utility dudes die.
I see you have Fireshrieker in your deck... have you considered running Rage Reflection?
I actually had this in here at one point, but I cut it for other stuff.
With that many creatures entering play under your control Aura Shards would rock out here. Dauntless Escort could help as well.
Aura Shards would be nice...but wouldn't that be an auto-Disenchant for the opponent as soon as you drop it? Dauntless I've actually had in here multiple times, in and out. I like him as a card when I was running G/W in Std...but I've felt a bit underwhelmed in EDH with him--most of the time, I'm looking for something epic or to win with...but I get a 3/3 beater. He never comes up when I need him >_<.
Those are all pretty expensive, but quite powerful. Insurrection seems like an "I win" card but I might take a look for some of those others...especially Mirari's Wake.

Unfortunately I don't have any Cryptic Command or Rafiq of the Many (though maybe I could borrow some from a friend) and I don't care for Jenara, Asura of War as she just eats removal all day long (my meta is pretty removal-heavy, so she isn't a very good mana investment imho). Maybe I should run Knotvine Paladin in \stead of Jenara?
