I was thinking he would just be some type of big protection piece.

I would find that last ability interesting if it works for having any Planeswalker with the subtype Gideon, in the case of running different Gideons together in the future.


I kinda hope they explore some new design space, though I would guess they would wait a bit since they did that with the new Jace. Maybe something like:

Gideon: 1WW

I have a Pyromancer Ascension with no counters and a Chandra Ablaze with 7 counters on the battlefield, and in my graveyard I have 2 lightning bolts and 2 burst lightnings.

If I activate Chandra's final ability, playing both bolts and both bursts, will the ascension trigger twice and get two counters on it, one for the first of each spell cast, or will it act oddly since they were all cast during the resolution of an ability?

Looking at it again, I don't know why I thought that it was better in that regard. I guess the only way it could possibly be any better is with Keeper of Progenitus, but that's probably not enough synergy to make either of then worth it.

Has anyone done any playtesting with Arbor elf ? It seems like it could still be good even though you can't untap an already enchanted forest.

Turn1: Forest, Arbor elf.
Turn2: Mountain, Float 2 mana, untap forest, Trace on forest, then elvish visionary.

Seems like a really good first 2 turns.

I think it should still be considered in any list that would otherwise run Lanowar elves, unless you have a very non-basic mana base.

What about a few Knight of the Reliquary, so that when you do discard 10 lands on turn 2, you can have a massive 3 drop.

I'm already running a MBC deck at FNM, which runs Carnage Altar and fleshbag with bloodghast and runs Nyxathid as a beater. The demon would replace Nyxathid perfectly.

I just hope I open some, since I don't have the money to buy a playset at the current prices.

I'm not very familiar with legacy so this may just be a bad suggestion, but would Street Wraith be any good since it would help enable both Tombstalker and Death's Shadow?

I can't wait to sideboard this in and end up using it to exile my Abyssal Persecutor.

I was wondering if the Sphinx's peeking ability could be used during the resolution of spells.

Specifically, could I look at the top card of my library during the resolution of ponder so that I could see the fourth card of my library?

Under the new rules, will the following work:

I attack with a Boggart Ram-Gang (3/3), my opponent declares three blockers, each is a 1/3.
I order the blockers, can I use a volcanic fallout, or a Jund Charm to deal 2 damage to everything and then assign 1 damage to each of the three blockers since they already have 2 damage on them?

Enjoyed the article, and I was wondering about in round 5 against the Jund deck, could "GT" stand for "Garruk Token", I don't know if they get played at large tournaments, but I know at my local FNM I have seen a few Jund Ramp decks with Garruk.
