    I must confess, I didn't read much of the thread. I'm only posting to say this:

    I agree with the OP.

    Having Mythic rares is utter stupidity when you include 'must have' cards. Its a cheap money grab attempt for a company that already had a ton of money and sold themselves to a company with even more. The Brand Managers should be removed. Its not Maro that is killing Magic, its them.

    Baneslayer Angel is an example of a 'perfect' Mythic rare. Its huge, turns games around, and isn't such a big play as to make the game unwinnable for the opponent. My very first pack (free at FNM) contained one. I said, "Meh, can't use it. I'm a U/B/R player." Sold it to the store and tossed in some other rares I had. Made up half the cost of the singles, FNM admission, and packs I'd bought.

    Now, WotC is going overboard. By making cards every competitive deck NEEDS, they are in effect cheapening their product.

    EDIT:

    :facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

    This card is a 2/1 creature.

    There are oodles of ways in standard to accelerate into T3 Baneslayer.
    There is another 1G green creature that allows this, Devoted Druid, and it hasn't broken the format wide open.
    The snake relies on a fetchland for this baneslayer to happen.
    Druid only needs himself.

    I can see what they were trying at for this mythic, but I don't think the card is a 'must have'.

    What about the new 'Goblin Lackey'?

    Landfall - Whenever a land comes into play, put a Speculate counter on target player.

    G: Target player with a Speculate counter explains in exquisite detail why they enjoy their Speculate tokens.

    T: Target player with a Speculate token adds another detail or loses 3 life.

    15/15

    *Yes, its fake. Just proving a speculative point*

    Thank you for spamming the forum with this. Please enjoy your infraction as we enjoyed this card

    I think the Zendikar lands should trade places with the M10 duals.

    Honestly, in a land matters set, which makes more sense; need a relevant basic or they come into play tapped, or come into play tapped and you gain a life?

    I think the Zen duals are much more new player friendly than the M10 duals.

    Nice cards for budget players though. I'll be getting sets of the U/B and B/R ones.

    I'm not thinking keyword. The only "keyword" that I'm seeing in ZEN is Landfall, considering Maro's article today. It doesn't seem that there will be a truly new keyword in Zendikar, which is saddening in a way, but also nice to know we'll be playing a very traditional feeling set, although in a completely new setting.

    For the OP, I have no idea. My guess is something is it's either a sorcery or land enchantment that sets the land "on fire".

    I really like your point. The last few blocks have been crazy with the amount of themes and mechanics. As far as we know; Kicker, Landfall, and Allies are the only things in this set aside from your run of the mill explosive cards. Very traditional and back to basics.

    No love for Corpse Connoisseur? If you are going for reanimater you should give it some more love! Maybe some black cycle creatures?

    Ha, Connoisseur->Progenetus->Rise From the Grave.
    Good Game.

    In a deck like this, I'd use the Connoisseur to get Sedaris into the yard before reanimating him and giving everything Unearth.

    Every color gets humans though.

    WotC spent so much time worrying about Blue, they forgot White is just as crappy race-wise.
