  • posted a message on why does the internet change people?
    Quote from NaYoN
Given enough motivation, a person more savvy than me can discover a lot about you (not talking about you specifically, but about any person) just over the internet. They can also probably discover your address, name, family. There have been several recent incidents of people seeking out someone who wronged them over the internet and killed them. It's not that anonymous really. It's just that most people aren't savvy enough/can't be bothered.

    Herp derpProxiesderp herp.

But seriously, everyone here seems to taking the most negative view of Internet anonymity . Yes, people who wouldn't normally antagonize people in real life feel safe doing it on the interwebs, but what about extremely shy people who can "come out of their shell" in the same environment? Or people in countries without first amendment rights, who couldn't normally speak out against evil governments?

I mean, you could compare "anonymous" flyer distribution during the revolutionary war to the freedom of speech the internet provides.

Of course, I'm not even sure why I'm posting in this section, when it seems to be comprised of like 12 people, all who seem to be psychotic extremists in at least one direction.

    Card tags: [c]Temple Bell[/c] -> Temple Bell.

Yes, he has to discard. Discarding happens in the cleanup step, which is after the end step in which you activated the Bell.

Thankee, and sorry about the lack of card tags.

OK, my opponent ends his turn with 7 cards in hand. I tap temple bell eot, and he now has 8 cards. Does he have to discard?

You need card tags in future posts. Read the Forum Guidelines. -Carsten

I remember reading some short stories by Niel Gaiman. In a bunch of them, he brings up how people remain the same even when they travel to foreign lands. Now that I mention it, this theme was also kind of in the anime "Durarara!!".

On a different note, watch Durarara!!- 'tis a very good anime.

I would replace emerge unscathed with brave the elements. Even though it doesn't hit all of your creatures, its better for alpha strikes against a mono-colored board.

So, I posted a decklist in the standard deck creation sub-forum, and when I go to check on it, it is nowhere to be found. I searched all threads started by me and I see that the one about the deck isn't there. Is this a bug, should I repost, or is it the silent wrath of a moderator? (note that I have no warning PMs).

The thread name was R/U Rune Bell, or something along those lines.

  • posted a message on How much would it cost to buy and have 4GBs of RAM installed onto a normal desktop?
    Quote from necrogenesis
If you give the brand/model of the computer, we can point you to the exact RAM to buy. Different kinds of RAM (DDR2/DDR3) cost different amounts. Looks like it will be between $80 and $130, give or take. Based on NewEgg prices here.

Sorry for being so late in responding, the Wii is still in the moving boxes and had just set up the computer. This is from the system information page:

    AMD athlon 64 X2 Duel
    Core Processor 3800+
2.01 Ghz, 2.00 BG of RAM

and the chassis has the brand name Asus on it.
    I run windows XP.

Also, I have a M2N-MX SE plus motherboard

Ok, this deck plays a lot like the other runeflare trap deck that uses mines and fonts, only with Temple Bells, voltaic keys, and normal Jaces to make them draw 3. Here is a decklist that I have been testing:

I like this deck more than the other Runeflare deck because you can combo off when they are tapped down, rather than having to wait for them to draw off of mine and font. I'm working on the SB, and It looks something like this:

4x Mana burn/dispel (to protect your combo from control)
4x Into the Roil (For Leyline of Sanctity and eldrazi)
    4x negate/?
3x elixir of immortality/Dragon's claw (for RDW)

So, they can't just write a zombie book. They have to infringe on an already written masterpiece and foul it up?

Personally, I'm not a fan of the Victorian novels, but still, why rewrite it?

It's just like people who remake old movies just to try and make $$$ for the studios. Its ridiculous. We've stooped so low as to not come up with new ideas, rather we go back and change old things. It's acts of cowardice.

Are you familiar with the reasoning that using old ideas in a new way can be called originality? Also, have you even read the book? Are you basing your opinions on what you immeadiatly saw without actually knowing anything about the subject? God, I know that there is a word for that...
Damn, I can't think of it. Oi vell. Also, what did you think about the colorizing of B&W movies? Would it not look right? I want you opinion, you seem to have watched a lot of B&Ws.

7 looks and feels nice to me, which is by far my most important consideration in an OS. I guess that's purely subjective though.

I don't get it. What cool things does having 8 gigs of ram allow that you can't with 4? I have win7 and 4 gigs of memory... I'm pretty sure it's more than I ever use, and my system is amazingly responsive. But then again I close apps when I'm not using them, and I have seen people with 30+ chrome tabs open. I guess having 7 copies of wow running at once is "cool stuff".

Dood, I can't even begin to tell you how awsome it is to know that if you had to, you could run 40 firefox tabs, a copy of TF2, and Bioshock all at once.
    /sarcasm.

Seriously, there is no reason to have more than 4 gigs of RAM on a computer. In the future, maybe, but not now.

Anyway, the things I would install onto a new computer would be anti-walware programs, steam, skype, winrar/7-zip, funny pictures and emulators.

    Quote from PandasRpeople2
Stigmatization of mental illness will only cease when we cease stigmatizing weird people, because "mentally ill" is essentially synonymous with "undesirably weird." I know this is terribly controversial to say nowadays, thanks to the collusion of biologically reductivist psychiatrists and drug companies in a massive marketing/propaganda campaign, but mental diseases are not actual diseases. That is, there are no consistent physiological symptoms whereby to reliably identify someone suffering from depression, schizophrenia, etc. Cancer can be diagnosed in someone who yet feels no symptoms

Uh, no. This is wrong. Depression is when your brain doesn't produce enough Seratonin.
The symptoms of Depression are feeling tired, suicidal thoughts, loss of interest in things that were previously interesting, and others. These can be compared to how Leprosy causes bits of you to turn white and fall off, or how Cancer causes your cells to make tumors. Depression can also be gentically inherited, like Diabeties. The horrible Drug Company's marketing campaigns are to 1). Make people aware of their products so they buy it, and 2). To lessen the Tabooish nature of Depression that it previously had/has (So more people feel they can buy their medication).

Depression is usually initiated by an emotionally traumatic event. The event that initiated my Depression was learning that I had gotten a D in my Japanese class in 9th grade (in the first semester). I slowly became more and more emotionally unbalanced untill one day when I broke down crying for no reason and called my parents, who after a few days of talking to me, realized that I probably had Depression and schedueled an appointment with a docter who specialized in mental illnesses. She prescribed a mild sleep medication and a medication that made the parts of my brain that produced Seratonin start producing more. After about three weeks on Vacation, I stoped suffering from Depression, but continued to take the pills well into the summer, so that my brain would continue to produce enough Seratonin on its own.

People don't immeadiatly talk to their Doctor about Cancer because it doesn't impede them in any way until it is obviously recognizable. Because most people need their mind functioning properly to carry out their daily lives is the reason people talk to Doctors when they feel overly depressed or depressed for an elongated period of time. It is because they do not have enough Seratonin, not because they are namby pamby cry-babies who feel sad, and get feel-good pills.

Mental illnesses are just illnesses that take place in your Brain, rather than your heart/stomach/bones/gentalia.

In my opinion, severe depression is much worse than many other ilnesses because it is a truly terrifying experiance when you don't feel safe in your own mind. This is probably why so many people who commit suicide are also depressed, because it only stops when you are sleeping, giving the option of non-exsitance it's appeal as always sleeping.

  • posted a message on Looking to find the worlds best paper airplane
God, paper airplanes... One of my favorite activities when I was younger. I remember one christmas when I was around 10 years old where I taped 32 pieces of paper together, 8 pieces of paper by 4 pieces, and then folded it into a traditional paper airplane and took it outside. I couldn't get it to fly very far from ground hight, and it just droped when I released it with some elavation, but it was awsome. The main problem was that the wings and base would just bend. I think that if I remake it and just add balsa wood reinforcment...

    Quote from Sam111111
    Yes. Sometimes it won't though.
I personally watched Kung Pow: Enter the Fist [via Megavideo] through a PS3 and then watched a Celtics-Lakers game [via justin.tv]. The movie was perfectly fine, the game was terribly laggy.

Really? Dayum, I guess the PS3's internet is better than the Wii's. Its like it purposly only works for youtube and only works on the unknown videoplayer because it is unknown.
