There is no way that Brazil shouldn't win the world cup. Which is why I have a premonition that they won't. Everything just seems to perfect, and I don't believe that one nation can be that much better than everyone else.
The Brazilian team is easily in their prime right now.
The French, however, are aging, and no one new is stepping in, which is creating problems. Arguably their best player, minus Henry, would have to be Trezguet, but after him, there's no one. France struggled to get through qualifying, and I can't see them advancing to the Round of 16.
Ghana may have the talents of Essien and co., but they lack depth. You can't except their midfield not to be tired by the third game, especially seeing as they only brought 6 along.
Brazil is so entirely dominant that for some reason, I think they're going to find a way to lose this by themselves. While Dida is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, he's rarely forced to make entirely difficult saves. If we meet up with Brazil in the Round of 16, which, in all honesty, is our best hope, than I'm confident Kasey can save the day again.
As for the cup, if it weren't for injuries/Sven, I'd say England. The Italy scandal will hopefully tax on that team, and even with the nation behind them, the Germans don't have the technique to win.
If RVN comes into the cup angry after this whole season with Man U, I like their chances. Tactically , they're sound, and they're one of very few European nations who run primarily a technique-style gameplay.
Of course, Brazil could easily roll through this tournament, and make the rest of the world look like fools. But I have to think that Brazil can't be as untouchable as they appear.
While this may be a double post, and I may be bumping an old thread, with the World Cup less than a month away, I figure this thread should have new relevence.
I had forgotten about my Super-Y league games, and ended up being away from my computer all weekend. For those of you who don't believe I'm telling the truth, you can check here. My name shows up in the roster, ect., ect. Just wanted to make sure no one thinks I was conveniently disappearing after a vote shifted from me towards someone else.
Once I get some sleep, I'll try to make sense of what I've missed.
I don't believe it's time to get rid of a neutral, when we've still got a decent amount of leads to pursue.
Az's analysis is good, and brings up several key points. I too would like to see C_F's response to the comment he neglected to oppose, which has already been stated.
