Radiant Flames is copyable with the goggles and it will remember the number of colors used to cast the original one. Just tested on mtgo.

It is a way for you to be able to cast goryos once you go off using simian spirit guide mana.

I was thinking about wingmate roc as well but its not good unless you hardcast it post combat and so it has a better spot in abzan midrange more than reanimator. i plan on testing out a resolute archangel this riday as one of my reanimator targets. its fairly easy to side out if i need to against hyper aggro and i feel itll improve our midrange matchup, which is arguably one of our best matchups from my testing, even further.

I played RhinoWhip on friday at fnm and did quite well with my only loss being to mono green devotion because i didn't draw any drown in sorrows.

    The deck performed very well.

Necromancer's stockpile was awful and its being cut asap, either for an endless obedience or another empty the pits. Rescue from the underworld was an all star. Being able to turn 4 Sac a caryatid and get back an ashen rider or a rhino felt really good and the instant speed let me hold up Abzan Charms. Abzan charm felt really good. Rarely did i ever need to kill anything with less than 3 power and being an exile it let me get rid of a pesky Sarkhan as well. I wasn't running Elvish Mystics to fit more spells into the deck. I'm not running a whole lot of 3's I need to have 3 mana on turn 2 for and i much preferred turn 1 to drop a tapped land. Caryatid on 2 let me drop whip or rhino on turn 4 easily or let me use my turn 3 to wayfinder and commune. Empty the pits was AMAZING every time i saw it and i might try and find space for a second one. Nyx weaver was great. Blocked early, got the milling in early and mid-late game he could turn into another card. I had one time where i end of the opponents turn nyx weavered for an empty the pits and then emptied the pits for 13.

As for the sideboard, I never sided in the bile blights, as the drown in sorrows were usually just better. I could see dropping them and upping the drown in sorrow's to 3, but we'll see how the metagame sets up with jeskai tempo doing well this weekend. I may need bile blights for mantis riders. Duneblast was great against the midrange matchup. I got to 8 mana fairly easily and being able to keep a rhino or ashen rider off of the blast was good. I could have used some banishing lights through the night and i could see finding space for them.

Hey guys, long time no post. Played my r/w list again at FNM on friday to a first place finish. The only changes I have made to the deck since is i pulled the batterskull to the board and i'm running an assemble the legion mainboard. The card does work on a locked down board. Much love.

My win was against UWR Control, RUG Delver, UWR Twin and BG Rock we hard drew into me on top and him at second (we went to time lol).

I hadn't played the deck is a few weeks because i wanted to mix it up a bit and to let people readjust their sideboard (as my deck was starting to get far too much hate garnered in sideboard) and it appears to have worked. No one expected me to dust off the deck again. I mainly pulled the list out again now because my LGS is hosting a modern PTQ on the 14th of June and ill be participating it with my r/w deck and i wanted some more practice with the deck.

Generally it is used to chump block if they pay to get a guy through the prisons and in a pinch you can suit one up with a batterskull. It's not entirely necessary but I have won games because the little kobolds chumped long enough to let me grind out a win.

Suppression field, albeit good, makes it so we have issues using ajani vengeant, arguably one of our best lockdown cards.

Ghostly prison is rising because its being picked up by u/w tron players, and my list definitely started as another deck. It started running ensnaring bridges and more sweepers and i just realized that we dont need ensnaring bridge. it doesnt stop twin. it doesnt stop affinity. ghostly prison wrecks both. Ghostly prison is a force to be wreckoned with, and my current meta cant handle it. Mainboard blood moon hurt a lot of decks. The meta is very creature deck heavy. R/W prison hurts creature decks. Midrange taps out for everything and opens themselves up for resto/kiki. control is probably my worst matchup, but they still need creaturesto win, and creatures still have to get through prisons and sweepers. Ghost quarter takes out pesky manlands when i dont have an active blood moon and in a pinch canturn 2 plains and a red source into a needed 1RR for an anger of the gods or into 2RRR for a kiki. Running sweeper followed by ajani can do some real work. Also, some decks cant handle getting their lands busted and ghostly into boom/bust or ajani -7 just locks them out.

edit: sorry about formatting and grammatical errors, posting from work on cell phone.

I went 4-0 tonight with my version of R/W Prison, beating Melira pod, Infect, Jund, and Kiki pod.

Deck was posted on the last page, but ill repost for reference.

I did adjust the sideboard a bit, cutting timely reinforcements and spwing salt for a stony silence and 2 burning earths. Burning earth would have come in against UWR, which is probably my worst matchup (thought not unbeatable).

My list, seen above, brought me another first place finish tonight.

    Matchups were:

Round 1 against another R/W brew running resto kiki but it was a more aggro brew that ran blade splicer and bolts in lieu of the control package and he couldn't get past my ghostly prisons. I won 2-0 (1-0 in matches)

Round 2 was against U/R Storm. He snuck in game 1 on turn 3. Games 2 and 3 i hit a turn 2 rest in peace and he couldn't get going enough to kill me eitehr game before i killed him. Win 2-0 (2-0 in matches)

Round 3 was against Soul Sisters. Again, he couldn't handle ghostly prisons and eventually got swept by a wrath and i killed him over a few turns. Game 2 i mulled to 6 and kept a slow hand and he got a really fast start and killed me on his turn 4. Game 3 I mid stoned on turn 2, resto'd on turn 3 and kiki'd on 4 when he was tapped out and finished him off. 2-1 win (3-0 in matches)

Round 4 we ID'd as we were the only undefeated players and i got first place. We played for fun. He was on robots and i wrecked him. Robots can't handle double ghostly prison into wrath. Game 2 i sided in shatterstorm andshattering spree and turn 4 shatterstormed and he never came back from it before i could kill him.

Overall, I'm thoroughly enjoying the deck.

Day of Judgment over wrath of god is a card availability problem. I cant find them locally and have to wait to order some. Same with witchbane, as i would much rather have leyline.

the chalice and reinforcements are against burn, which there are a few of in my meta. the lack of bolts main is just a space issue. I dont know what i would cut for them. The 3 hard sweepers and 2 angers handle all the creatures that i really need to get rid of. The 4 prisons keep the general chaff back and are insane against twin and kiki pod.

I could probably cut the timely reinforcements for a leyline and a few runed halos without much trouble, i'd just have to pick them up. Most wins are by frustraing my opponents to death.I ajani ulted one guy. That was fun.

So i brewed up my own take on R/W prison. I started running 4 ensnaring bridge and 3 ghostly prison at fnm on 3/7/14 but those numbers ended up with my stuck and unable to empty my hand fast enough to make the bridges viable. I ended up dropping the bridges and going to 4 ghostly prisons and i went 3-1 with my only loss to G/B obliterator rock. this most recent fnm, 3/14/14, i went 3-1 again with my only loss being a terrible draw against melira pod. Then i took it to a GPT on saturday and went 2-1-1 with my loss being againt uwr twin (I drew no prisons) and my draw being taking melirapod to time because my opponent was playing slow (he got a warning from the head judge about it.) Anyways, 2-1-1 got me into the top 8 as the last seed and i end up playing against the melirapod deck i drew against again and i beat him this time and head to the semifinals and we ended up splitting the top 4 prize and i got the first place and the byes for the gp. Go team R/W prison!

    Heres my list:

Any questions or comments on the build/matchups feel free to message me. This is definitely a deck i can see myself playing for a long time.

Ok guys. I searched the thread and saw no mention of the card, but you guys need to really take a look at War's Toll. This card has been NUTS in testing. Alongside a ghostly prison it says that the opponent can only choose to attack or play spells until his next turn as he can't do both (unless they are instants during combat) and with a magus of the tabernacle it says that he has to pay 1 for each creature to keep them in play and then he's tapped out. This is the epitome of prison. Also, being an enchantment for 4 it dodges abrupt decay. Also, if they want to remove it once it hits play then they have to tap out to do it, leaving them open for whatever hate we have on the next turn (including another war's toll to replace the old one :D)

EDIT: I went 3-1 with my R/W prison deck on Friday. Only loss was to g/b with obliterators because I didn't draw enough ways to kill all the obliterators. Theres 2 g/b decks that have been dominating our meta at my store and they both run 4 obliterators so next week ill be packing Wrack with Madness in the board. Sneaky sneaky 6-for-1s)
