I ran a green black tempo killer deck in casual games in mtgo. If I had a good hand and went first I could win. If I had a good hand and went 2nd, it was 50/50.
I ran Birds of paradise too so I could 2nd turn rain of tears and 3rd turn creeping mold.
I don't know if this has been discussed yet but does Giltspire Avenger have a spot in here?
It's been discussed a couple times in the last few pages. The general consensus is that it is not worth taking a 3 spot. The card is not an offensive threat, and it doesn't immediately deal with anything your opponent does so it is pretty subpar.
Faerie lord, I just said that when I say fine, I don't necessarily mean stop talking to me, and you're gonna tell me that it ALWAYS means stop talking to me?
Seeing as how I gave an example of it not meaning leave me alone, there must be sometimes when it doesn't mean that.
George, I kinda disagree... When I was working at a gas station, people would always say things like how's your day going? I was at work, and I generally wasn't happy so I said fine. I figured most people didn't want to hear about how we had a gas drive off and I didn't want to call my bosses about it...
My point is, if someone says fine they may really want to complain about something. If you let them know it's okay, that can keep the conversation going, but not everyone wants it to go in that direction... I don't really care if it does.
Sometimes it is a bad idea though, because yeah, some people really do mean don't talk to me when they say fine.
I'm afraid to give some people random complements. I imagine they find it creepy? Mostly people I am just meeting or don't know to well...
should I be?
Also, if someone just kind of starts an awkward silence... if you are like how was your day? And they just say "Fine" I'll often say something like, "That's it? You can't do any better than fine? Look if your day was good be excited about that, but if it's bad let me know, I asked the question yo'"
yeah, I'll talk like that, yet I'm embarrassed by telling people I like their hair.
I was going to say about the same thing. I don't see any reason to discourage someone from something they enjoy unless it is PHYSICALLY harmful to them. I would suggest a magazine subscription to sports illustrated or something along those lines. Or even a cool shirt for whatever team he is interested in. There isn't really anything wrong with letting him live his life how he wants to...
I don't discourage him from doing any of the things he does. I'll sit down and watch football and baseball games with him, and during the baseball season I take him to Twins games sometimes.
The problem is, it is ALL he does. It has become less of a hobby and more of an addiction.
Money does not work for this kid...
He hasn't bought anything in the last 2 years with the exception of Madden 09. He told my mom this the other day because she asked if he even had money. I mean once in a while he'll buy food or something, but he definitely has more money than he uses right now, and giving him money would do nothing but add to his collection. He wouldn't use it.
That's kinda why I'm trying to find something he can do, but he's not really interested in anything outside of paying attention to sports. He shows no interest in even playing any sports...
He has his drivers license, but he doesn't ever go anywhere. He doesn't even drive to school.
I might see about gift cards to a theater though... I didn't want to do gift cards because it's so impersonal, but yeah... my family is all suggesting things like a magazine subscription... While it's something he'd like, I want to find something he would actually enjoy that is a bit out of the ordinary.
For Christmas this year my family is doing a secret santa type thing (except everyone knows who is supposed to get who a present now...)
Well, I got pretty much the hardest person in my family to shop for, my little brother.
He doesn't have much for hobbies...
He doesn't have much for friends even...
I mean, I know he's interested in football and baseball, but he doesn't really play either. What he does is look at stats. He does fantasy league stuff constantly.
My little brother comes home from school and will go on the computer and be on that for as long as he can. Otherwise, he spends his time watching tv. He never goes out. He never does anything...
So I want to get him something to do.
Any ideas?
He is 16. I can't get him anything MTG related (he did play, but we don't have cardshops around us anymore so he doesn't now, but the game kinda phased out of his life... I still play when I can)
He is kinda nerdy also. I don't want to get him something that promotes not going out.
still in that same tourney, and I've 2-0ed my first 2 matches... I'm determined to top 8 now
I just ignore it (I didn't ignore him at this point, I just didn't say anything)
He says a few more things and I win game 2... Then he pms me saying I was lucky.
Is there anything I can do about this besides ignore him (Is asking someone to concede allowed?)

Magic has helped me with a lot of word connections also... Most of my intelligence actually comes from connecting words together I think.

@randon007, he definitely has a football.
Thanks to everyone for your help!
When I try to go all out aggro, I usually lose steam it seems.

C-Stick is not cheap...
Also, diddy has a few guaranteed combos I believe... But it's still nothing like melee.
