Hmm. Ok I will think of an alternative version of Concentrated Will.

EDIT: What do you all think of the newer version. It's almost like force of will but it requires you to either exile more cards or run expensive cards.

I think that Concentrated Will is still a little bit too much. Now if you were to make it so each card exiled reduces the mana cost required to cast by 1, you would balance it up right nicely. You would still have to pay UU if you exiled 3 (or more) cards though.

Thanks but unfortunately, I have a Mac =(

for the card: your forgetting the -1 attack from the counters as well, it's actually 3/3 to a 4/2 to a 5/1. Much more reasonable I think.

    You sure your math's right? 3-1(for the counter)=2 2+3(for the ability)=5

Don't think it works that way.

No, it doesn't. When you Proliferate you choose any number of permanents or players that have some sort of counter and give them another one of those counters.

As for balancing the OP's card: something like "3, T: Proliferate" or "2, T, Discard a card: Proliferate" would be a step in the right direction.

New York City/Jersey/Philly are all great, for Upstate NY you have Rochester, further on you have a great player base in the DC area.

Syracuse also has a thriving community, though to be fair most of our players go to Rochester for PTQs because our main store (Play the Game Read the Story) doesn't hold PTQs Frown

Also what card creator did you use? Im pretty new here and im trying to find a good one...

Magic Set Editor is a good one to use, and I suggest getting the full install.

As for the OP's card: I personally like the flavor of it, as described by Messor, but that +3/+0 ability is a little pushed in my opinion... not overpowered, but definitely pushed. A 3/3 turns into a 5/2 turns into a 7/1? That thing would be a beast for a few turns at least.

Sorry for the double post but I have an updated render with some art that I found on DeviantArt that I like. The original can be found here.

    1) I didn't want the draw to be entirely without consequence. I wanted some sort of drawback on the draw that also adds some functionality to it as well (say if you're playing a deck that involves a mill strategy, either for you or against your opponent). 2) This goes to the flavor of the blue/red pairing. A lot of blue/red mages are rather scatterbrained, and as such they get one good idea while another slips by into the æther.

EDIT: New render featuring the change to multicolored. Decided to go with 3UR for playability. Anyone who knows where I can find some suitable art to go with this render would be greatly appreciated. Grin

Because I prefer to look at a render, even an incomplete one, as opposed to just reading the text. Makes it seem more like a real card.

Firstly, when designing a hybrid card, you should think about whether it would be fine if you replaced the hybrid symbols with a single color of mana. Thus, your planeswalker must not break the color pie either at 1UUU and 1RRR, which it does. Direct damage ability in blue and raw card draw in red is just asking for trouble.
Secondly, the card is vastly overpowered. Aside from hybrid comfort, it is a 4mana PW that starts with solid loyalty count, gains it rapidly while serving as a powerful Card Advantage engine. If that wasn't enough, it clears off small to medium-sized threats and holds off bigger ones. Ultimate is utterly backbreaking, but hilariously that is the most balanced part of the card.

Having that said, Mirella would be a great constructed planeswalker at 3UR

Yea, I was wondering if I was a little too gung ho with putting her at 4 mana. And I don't dispute that she breaks the color pie if put in a mono colored deck... I obviously didn't take that into account when I designed her. Now that I think about it, designing a truly hybrid planeswalker is a little difficult.

That being said, I think she'd be good with the abilities as is with her mana cost at either what you suggested (3UR) or at something like 2UUR or 2URR.

Greetings fellow Magic enthusiasts. I was messing around with Magic Set Editor earlier today when I got this interesting idea for a hybrid planeswalker. Unfortunately I didn't have any art to go with this creation so it's just the card frame and abilities but I think she came out all right. I tried to keep the abilities balanced and appropriate for both colors (blue and red) yet powerful enough to be constructed playable. To be honest this is one of my first ever cards that I've created so I'm a little nervous about the power level, especially about her second ability. I wanted to push that one so it wasn't your standard bolt but I wasn't sure whether to go -2 or -3 with it.

Anyway, comments, suggestions, critiques are all welcome!

It will return as a Mayor of Avabruck. When objects change zones they "forget" all special statuses they had, such as being transformed or flipped or having counters.

That's what I thought. Thanks Smile

Greetings. Just a quick question to confirm a suspicion of mine: When you use cards/effects like Momentary Blink on the 'night' side of a dual faced card like Howlpack Alpha does it return to the battlefield with the night side (Howlpack Alpha) or the day side (Mayor of Avabruck) showing?

    Hey all,

I've been playing magic for a few months now, and have managed to get along fairly well by searching online for rules clarifications. Recently though, I've run into some issues that I can't seem to find the answers to, so here goes. I'll ask my questions in the form of scenarios:

1.) I'm the defender. During his previous turn, my opponent put down a Grizzly Bear, meaning that this turn he's able to attack with it. In the first main phase, I decide to kill the bear with a Burst Lightning. In response to my Burst Lightning, my opponent plays a Giant Growth. Now I know the Giant Growth resolves first, then the Burst Lightning resolves, doing only 2 damage, which is not enough to kill the currently 5/5 Bears. The question is, moving forth into the combat phase, if my opponent wants to attack with the bears, are they 5/5 or are they 3/3? Does the Burst Lightning reduce the strength of the bears from 5/5 to 3/3 or, since it didn't do enough damage to kill the Bears, do the Bears march on forth into combat phase as 5/5?

    2. Now say we have the same scenario as above, but I decide not to try and kill the Bears during the first main phase. Instead, my opponent uses Soul's Might on his bears, making them 4/4 bears. It's combat phase now and my opponent attacks with his 4/4 Bears. I defend with a 1/1 Goblin Mountaineer. Now we're starting to tally up damage, and I decide to play a Resounding Thunder. The question is: does the 1 damage from the Goblin and the 3 damage from Resounding Thunder (uncycled) stack to kill the 4/4 Bears? Or do the Bears live -- in the sense that the 1 damage from the Goblin by itself isn't enough to kill the bears and the 3 damage from Resounding Thunder is not enough to kill the bears either -- meaning I can't stack damage from instants onto combat damage.

    3. The final part of this question is as follows: say I block the 4/4 bears from the scenario above with my 1/1 Goblin. My Goblin dies, and the Bears live on past the combat phase. Now during the second main phase (post combat phase), if I play an uncycled Resounding Thunder (which deals 3 damage), can I kill the Bears? Basically, do the Bears, having taken damage from the Goblin in the combat phase, come out of combat phase with 3 or 4 defense?

Thanks so much for the help! My questions all revolve around the idea of: does non-lethal damage is done to a creature, either with instants or creatures, persist until the end of the turn or does it vanish during the next phase of the same turn?

Thanks in advance for the help!

1: It will be a 5/5 bear with 2 damage marked on it, it will still deal 5 damage, but you only need to deal it 3 more to kill it.

2: Combat damage is assigned and dealt at the same time, so there is no point between the bears assigning 4 damage to your 1/1 goblin and your goblin going of into the yard (after dealing it's damage of course). This however flows perfectly into point 3...

3: After combat the bears will be a 4/4 with 1 damage marked on them. A Resounding Thunder (or the cheaper, more effective Lightning Bolt) fill turn the bears into fried bear meat. This can be done during the Declare Blockers step with the same result, just a phase earlier.

Damage normally doesn't weaken a creature (say, making a 5/5 into a 4/4). It gets marked, and as soon as a creature takes enough damage equal or greater than their toughness it dies. Damage marked on a creaure lasts until the cleanup step in the end phase.

EDIT: ^^; Wow I'm a slow typer... the thread had no responses when I went to answer it.
