    - Why would they randomly print shocklands in a non-multicolor set? (Then again, why not a THIRD multicolor set, since market research says everyone obviously loves it? Slant )

    - Why would they remove wrath/damnation just to bring it back? At best we will see a similar absurdly efficient board removal, but it will be different and more complex than either of those two.

I don't think we'll be seeing a multicolored set so soon. WotC made it clear that it's now time to get back to basic editions. Of course we'll have a few multicolored cards, but not a specific set for it. Magic rotates every now and then... and right noe we're rotating multicolored cards out and bringing back the old mtg style.

Scepter of Fugue is definetly the card to be in this kind of deck. It's a permanent that will make your opponent discard a card every turn. Which means your opponent won't have a single card Mid-game - End-game. He'll either use it as response to SoF or play it on his turn if not, on your turn he'll have to play it ir discard with SoF.

You really think that since we're losing Cryptic Command, Broken Ambitions, Dream Fracture, and Sage's Dousing that there won't be any other counterspells in Zendikar to replace them? Everything that rotates out in Lorwyn Block doesn't have to be replaced in m10 . . . . Same with Flame Javelin and Tarfire.

Plus, I have no reason to believe they wouldn't continue to reprint incinerate and shock in the core set.

Of course i do THINK, cause I can't be sure of what's coming on M10 and Zen. But I can say what I'm feeling. Incinerate + Bolt together at the same Set? Unlikely.

At least ONE good counterspell will be printed in M10, that's what I'm guessing. If not, well... It won't be the end of the world. In Oct we'll be having Zendikar as another block starter and then we'll be able to say something. Until there, all we can do is keep guessing.

I came to mention that myself. I'm not sure that does mean the bolt is coming, but it's still interesting. I hope it isn't, but I'd learn more towards that being a preview of Lightning Bolt returning than not.

EDIT: Thoughts on Rarity if it does? It was originally a common . . . .

    J

The main reason ppl are believing that Bolt will be out is that Red is losing pretty much all of its burn spells. Incinerate, Shock, Flame Javellin, Tarfire... We now have Magma Spray and that's it. We needed something more like Lightning Bolt.

And as for its rarity, I'd bet on Uncommon as it's too powerful to be considered as Common.

The same applies to Counterspell. We're losing Cryptic Command, Broken Ambitious and Dream Fracture along with Sage's Dousing. So I wouldn't be surprised to see Counterspell coming back. At this environment, it wouldn't be too overpowered, except for a few months b4 the whole Lorwyn block falls.

Swords to Plowshares in M10 would be preposterous, not to mention even the notion. With them just having printed a way worse StP, imo, they won't be putting it in the core set. Land Tax is not likely either. If it comes of the Legacy banned list June 20, maybe, but that's more or less unrelated either way. They won't print Berserk, as it would ruin the value of it. Drop of Honey is on the Reserve List (I'm sigging the damn list). Rancor, maybe. With Gaint Growth effects getting hosed with the new rules, Rancor may actually be quite viable.

    Agreed.

1 creature + Berserk + Rafiq of the Many = Win on turn 4.

The thing is that White right now already has its LB type card which is Path to Exile.

I don't think Counterspell will be back so soon. It's too overpowered for only 2 mana.
I'm expecting LB to be Uncommon, but won't be a surprise if it turns out to be common.

@ Lightning Bolt: OMG Eyebrow Gaaaaaaaaaah No

How is this okay? I don't think the removal spells have been this efficient in T2 since like... ever? I just hope that this isn't true. Incinerate is already really good. Why is this happening. I really don't see a reason for WOTC to do this.

Incinerate will fall with 10th Ed., so expect Lightning Bolt to come take its place.
Besides that, we have Path to Exile as being a creature removal for a single mana. It was time for Lightning Bolt to be back.

Mono Red will be back to the scenario. Bloodbraid Eld + Ball Lightning is just awesome.

I have seen so many games won by Sanity Grinding, I can't say mill is weak right now...although that is more a combo deck than a proper "mill".

Also, TurboFog decks made some good results at regionals iirc...

This is not the place to talk about Sanity Grind decks, but as soon as you mentioned it.

Thought Hemorrhage + Vexing Shusher + Guttural Response = less 4 Sanity Grinds on your deck.

-'Golden Lotus' is 'Sunpetal Grove'...still almost surely a multicolor land, IMO.

If that's true, then the promise of having 2 types of mana in turn 1 is still valid.

    Maybe:

    Sunpetal Grove
    Mythic Rare
When Sunpetal Grove comes in to the battlefield, choose two colors.
Tap: Add X or Y to your mana pool.

And still, we have a lot of overpwered cards in Standard.
For exemple Path to Exile. Costs W and removes a creature from the game. Bolt deals only 3 dmg. I know, on a burn deck, 3 dmg for R is too powerfull, but think about it.

    I was thinking about it.
Commands from Lorwyn have any chances of coming back in M10?

Cause I don't see their prices going down anywhere, even tho we're having the whole Lorwyn block out in October.

Mogg Fanatic was OP, and now they just fixed it.

How can you expect the 'lil Mogg to slap Bramblewood Paragon on the face and after having its arms, legs and head cut out still have williness to sacrifice itself to deal an extra dmg killing poor Paragon?

The First: It's effectively tidings, but switching one card for a 3/3 flier. Seems decent for a rare, but could be HEAVILY abused by bounce. Compare it to Mulldrifter.

The Second: 4/4 flying ponder for 5 seems like a very good idea. I like this one.

The Third: I thought this was M10, not SHM... :/

Yeah, I got that idea based on Mulldrifter and just mixed up with Ponder.

But I think the 2nd one seems to be well balanced. I wouldn't be sad to see that playing. =)

How can anyone agree that White needs ***? White already has a lot of creature removals it's just a joke. I didn't in the Regionals, White decks playing without 4 Path to Exile MD and 4 *** either on MD or SB. You can expect *** coming on turn 4 fos sure.

Now imagine Damnation + *** playing along in a BW deck? Of course the season is almost over, but still, we'd have 8 mass removal creatures, perfect for a control deck.

I don't think *** is coming back. I could bet on Damnation, but still, I'd say it's too powerful for now.

I think all elementals will be brought back. They're basic creatures for every core set.
