At least it isn't flight spellbomb. I know the blue one READS kinda poorly, but its actually pretty decent. Not busted, but fair.

Man do I wish that the red one could hit creatures. even if it cost 2 to cast. Oh well, they probably have their reasons. Good for turning on revolt and artifact decks in limited.

I wish goblin welder could someday come back. or a updated version or something. cards like this would be fun in standard with him

I miss mirran crusader. Almost as much as I miss phyrexian crusader lol

I don't even think the last two saw play at the time but they were strong cards in their own right.

Of course, that was also a block where we got one of the worst Chandra cards ever conceived, compare that to Torch of Defiance. Not everything was great for Red in Zendikar standard.

But seriously, plain old shock isn't BAD per say, it just doesn't feel exciting at all when we recently had wild slash.

Im not complaining, it is nice to get solid, evocative reprints like this, rather than having 'Revolting Shock' that has minimal play value increase but alot more text (and therefore more complexity in an already complicated world). I get it, but Im just saying it doesnt really grab my attention for standard or anything. I guess I will play it in limited but not as high as some other burn spells get to be.

I think you guys are a little overboard on this one. Yes, its really awesome, but I dont think its gonna make any new modern combo decks show up or supplant eternal witness everywhere. Its good, but not THAT good.

Im glad that this seems to fit what we know about the kind of magic the character uses. I am kinda surprised he isn't UW, but it makes sense since he is part of the cycle of monocolor legends

I just assumed she popped underground for a bit to grab another aether geode or whatever that is.

To me, the weird flavor is how she gets energy by attacking rather than by ETB.

Excellent point. Every time she swings with her pickaxe she comes up with an aether crystal? or..something? lol Oh well, not a hjuge gripe just kinda strange

She is not listed on the page. From stories, we knew she was able to perform Essence Extraction, an ultra-rare feat among aetherborn. There are no vampires in the true sense of the word on Kaladesh, but the "drainer" aetherborn are closest things to them. So it is cool for her to have the Vampire type.
