interesting to note 5 of the 6 1st or 2nd place finishers from National Q's were the "new school" version of Grixis running various combos of Sedraxis, Gatekeeper and SGCs.
Looks like this is, indeed, the superior build to the creatureless version.
I don't get why so many of you guys play sorin or nicol bolas. If you want an additionnal costy win condition, just use a4th cruel? It gets the job done way faster and it's not dealable with an Oring or pulse...
Turn 6, your life is 10
Turn 7, Cruel
Turn 8, Cruel
Thats why.
I played against an annoying ally lifegain mill deck and the guy was at 36 life or so when i played Sorin. He stopped smiling pretty quick.
The only thing is i need to find room for Magma spray against vamps, because bloodghast just murders us. So here is my deck and if any one has any suggestions please let me know.
Magma Spray is good against bloodghast as well as hitting the crab in mill decks that run x4 grim discovery to bring back both the crab and a fetch.
You can also consider Relic of Progenitus, which helps with both of the above as well as some additional advantages.
yeah i figured as much lol. just asking. anyways is the turtle really that good. i don't run him but have been trying to find room.
Yes the turtle is that good.
I only run 2 but have considered the 3rd.
Defensively he blocks MOST of the decent creatures out there and they cant kill him post combat except for EQ. With fetches he has the ability to trade with bigger dudes also.
Offensively, with as much removal as you run, you definitely have opportunities to clear a path for him, and since he has shroud, there is very little they can do but take 4 and like it.
With all the white and green this deck sees sitting across from it I'm a little surprised more people aren't running deathmark in the main (and maybe a little less flashfreeze.) Atleast as a 2 of with 2 in the side. Guess it depends on your meta.
Its another cheap answer to threats that slip past your countermagic and hit the board, all while allowing you to keep counter mana open for the next threat.
It kills almost all the biggest threats currently for B.
Broodmate, BBE, Master, Leech, Thrinax, BSA, Reliquery, Rhox, Emeria, Cobra, Hierarch, Birds, PW tokens, Scute, Woolly, Nacatl...
I usually just lurk and read but i got so excited to share my cascade event i had to sign up to post it hahaha...
My opponent gets me down to 3 with his speedy deck and i finally stabalize with defense but im at 3 life. He then amasses a small army of mutlicolored 2/1s & 2/2s while i draw mostly lands and then he drops a knight of the new alara and swings with the team. Crap. I only have a 5/4 land cycler and 1 other 3 toughness creature i have forgotten by now in play.
Im holding Bitunimous Blast and target his Knight of the New Alara and cascade into... INFEST.
Thought i would give this community a shot at it.

You would have to be a member then to do so right?
Im not involved in mtgo, but would love to see more on how your deck played.
First of all, GREAT report, thank you for sharing.
Where would one "watch" this match you speak of?

Its great that you can EQ for 3 and he lives.
