i think its more that he hates that a lot of vorthos fall into the OMG I WANT TO HUMP A DRAGON stereotype. you know, long greasy hair, dragon t-shirts, probably smells, can't grow in a beard properly but tries anyway, always talks about how you don't want to get on their bad side, hits on or has a fugly girlfriend that they worship, and every deck has to have a dragon in it.
I'm a total 100% Vorthos, but I've always thinked dragons are meh. Too cliche. In fact my favorite block was Lorwyn. Go figure.
Just be happy you can see their face. The way media goes nowadays, the less unique you are the less powerfull you are. No, really.
If white knight took his helmet off and told you his name, he could probably take on half an army singlehandedly. If he put his helmet back on and then lined up with 20 other knights wearing similar armor, he'd be killed off by the first random goblin that came along.
So I like seeing helmless knights. I means they'll live longer.
QFT. I really dislike this huge wave of over-individualism and cheesyness in today's media (and today's philosophy while you're at it).
BTW, I had just been wondering when I would quote this Master of White's Knights guy. A fan of White (and Knights) as I also am, he seems to be a pretty cool guy. Cool avatar and sig bro.
First they edited Finest Hour to have Gideon instead of the Bant knight (Rafiq?). Then they made it zoom out from Finest Hour to the art for Immersturm just to make it look like Gideon was in an epic battle. It was all for effects, and had nothing to do with the story.
EDIT: Also, isn't there a thread for this kind of thing? It's just that a guy started a whole topic just to say he got a nice card seems... unnecessary.
The fact that the art and the motif of it, along with the mirran motto on it seems to make it mirran aligned. And if that is so, I believe it's not a "restricting" or "enslaving" kind of cage, but rather a "shielding" or protecting shield, to prevent it from being stolen or corrupted by phyrexians. OR, if I say my crazy theory about this, since the mirrans will not win, and Phyrexia will take over Mirrodin, the mirrans, rather than just being exterminated, are planning to MIGRATE to another plane or world (perhaps just an empty world. Don't ask me how, but maybe Karn will have something to do in this), and for that they are planning on caging or encapsulating the suns to take them with them to their new home plane.
My personal belief? Just a cheesy phrase used to promote the product. As simple as that.
I mean, "Gather your allies! OMG that means allied multicolor!!oneone! NO! it means ally cards!!!!" Dude, I think we all must learn to distinguish between true sources of speculation (art, names, etc) and just random stuff not made to have a deeper meaning.
I really think they just wanted to say "Play with your friends" but needed something more fantasy.
Or another comparison with Zendikar is the movie Avatar.
The "Hallelujah" mountains on Pandora look much like the floating landscape of Zendikar.
Of course, both Zendikar and Avatar were in production at the same time, and were released very close to the same time. So that's just a big, although cool, coincidence.
And both Zendikar and Avatar look much like Roger Dean's album covers for Yes, Uriah Heep, etc. Which were, btw, made in the 70's. That's no coincidence.
Well, I think everything has been said about the Jace art. On the other hand, though I must say I really like the Chandra art. I find the pouty mouth really hot.
And as far as Garruk goes, people have been complaining beforehand that he will be awful, etc. As an artist myself, and having the pseudo-ability to know another artist's way of depicting something by seeing other pieces by him/her, I can say, to be real honest, that it won't be a big deal. If this artist decides to make him with his mask on, the face won't be a problem. I just expect him to be a more dynamic and cgi-detailed version of Briclot's Garruk, and even not so dynamic, since Chandra and Jace are "lighter" characters than Garruk, who is just heavy muscle and will probably be firmly standing there with a badass face and clenched fists holding his axe.
All in all, it will be just a badass angry Garruk with maybe more wavy flowing clothes and hair, since this guy seems to love wavy and flowing clothes and background, along with a serious faced character that looks he's being "carried away", which is btw, a very anime and "emo-like" (in lack of a better word) design style (which I personally find cheesy and hate it :D).
To the OP, the hands/arms wielding the swords represent the color that's in the middle of the enemy color's arch.
A Green and Blue Sword will show a human wielding it because humans are one of White's most common creatures, and White is between Green and Blue. A Green and Black sword will show a Red aligned creature wielding it (Vulshok) because the middle colour between Green and Black is Red. Thus, it's most possible a White and Red sword will show a Green aligned (possibly an Elf or Sylvok) creature wielding it.
Lol I live in Chile (asi que hablemos en español nomas :P) naa just kidding. Prices in Latin America seem too be about the same (maybe the distributor is the same for most of Latin America?) A booster pack is about US$6, fatpacks are about $40, and so on. I think it's because the distributor must be the same...
Ahem, people, stay on topic, please! The thread is about the philosophy and flavour of White. I said it before, we're not talking about mechanics, weaknesses, card combos and all that ☺☺☺☺.

They did that with Naya. They even were so uncreative they changed Maya to Naya.
BTW: The day WOTC codenames a block's sets Emerson, Lake and Palmer I'll die a happy man.

This. Nothing much left to say.

You heard it here first, folks

It's pretty obvious if you ask me, though.
