I was hoping for a picture, good information anyway. Anyone order it?

So was I. This was the initial reason why I tried to search for it, ending at least with this info. I have not read Fifth Dawn. I was hoping for King/Thran, not Onslaught/, Grubb or McGough. I like the last one's style in Kamigawa books. But as long as the man who wrote The Darksteel Eye avoid writing MTG novels, it is acceptable.

Could that big black horse dude be a reprinted Nightmare...?

Why reprint a Nightmare in flavor-intensive set, especially considering the fact that it come to us two months later with Ninth? That would be illogical, don't you think? This is 100% black Ki-Rin.

Does anyone think the white samurai could be the highest ranked survivor of Konda's army(I forgot his name)? The black spirit samurai might be Takeno's ghost.

Yes, you mean Captain Okazawa, leader of the refugees' escort.
His name was the first that jumped into my mind when I saw the picture.

Sorry if this info is already known.
According to Amazon.com, the author of the first book in Ravnica cycle will be Cory Herndon, the author of the Fifth Dawn novel. No image is available so far, though.

Welcome. Though I think that your comment was unnecessary, and blaming the people here for destroying the community is BS. The community is not about a domain address. The community are the people. And they are here, now including even you. Welcome to Salvation, GG.

After the coming of LOTR:FOTR into the theatres, I have been dragged into the Tolkien world, that I managed to evade for years, and I have quickly become obsessed by it. I have read all his Middle-Earth related books, and I simply love the Silmarillion. Caranthir the Dark, fourth son of Fëanor, did not have a significant role in the overall story, but the sound of the name always sends a chill down my spine. Therefore, when registering at MTGNews, I have chosen this name. I do not know if I am not breaking rule 3, but I think that just this name is not widely known even among the standard LOTR fans, thus less among others.

That makes it most likely that she's a spirit elemental, I mean, what else is an elemental but an embodyment of a natural thing?

So THIS is an excellent idea, yamaneko. The Elemental Spirit would be far the best way how to describe her nature at the card. Good point.

If I recall correctely (I'm at my parent's place right now, and the bok isn't anywhere nearby), kiku says something like "This is not a Kami or Myojin that can be called upon or be influenced by prayer".

Of course, I might be terribly wrong.

And somehow those titles you mentioned remind me of a hit song by a horrible dutch gothic metal band (but I must confess I have the autographs of all the band members :disgust2:)

You stirred my curiosity. So I went and found the book, and here we go:

    Page 43:
"She is a primordial force of nature, a consumer of warmth and devourer of life." - Kiku

    Page 45:
..This was not a myojin to be appeased by prayers but a primordial spirit with the cruel instinct of a predator. - Kiku's thoughts

So she IS a kami, but a kami that cannot be reasoned with like the myojin or Mochi. She is primordial, straightforward coming to consume warmth. Trying to talk or else reason with her would be quite as useful as trying to reason with raging river or falling avalanche.

Look at Glacial Ray, Frostwielder, Akki Blizzard-Herder . Or read the Heretic book. There you can find your answers, young Skywalker:halo:.

As for the flavor of yuki-onna:

Quistnix is half-right. She is not a demon. I am not sure if we can say that she is not a kami. Kiku said that she is a force of nature, but all the kami are the natural forces embodied. The myojin are the embodiments of single colors.
    And as for the title:
Snow Queen, Snow Lady, Lady of Snow, Lady of Frost, Frost Queen, Frost Maiden/oh, this reminds me of Icewind Dale:D/
These seem to be the most probable.

I do not like the B/W scheme much. But though B/W, it is done nicely. The clan part is hilarious.

    100. Metal ions. For example, adding of Au(III) ions into glass produces an excellent ruby-like glass.
