Oh come on. Are we really having this close-the-gutter power struggle yet again?

Can we please just maintain the fracturing community as-is without drama?
    The Gutter doesn't cause drama.

The Administrators and Moderators that go on some vengeful crusade every so often against the Gutter causes drama.

This is complete bull**** and I am sick and tired of every time I come to check out this site, there's some moral crusader on a power trip that decides to stir up drama.

The MTGSalvation admins/mods need to stop stirring up this drama.

Skyshroud Condor was played a decent amount a long time ago. This gets +2/+2 for 1 mana more. Likable, playable, but not overwhelming.

Electrolyze won't get new art because of the IDW promo for it.
That didn't stop the Jace vs. Chandra set having alt-art Jace in spite of the recent book-insert promo Jace. It also didn't stop the promo Jace from being worth a kabadrillion dollars.

Electrolyze and Putrify are the iconic "power uncommon"s from their respective color combinations. It would be slightly unfitting if they didn't have alt-art, and outright shocking if they weren't included.

Then again, Elspeth and Tezzeret's alt arts were not from Alara. Koth and Venser's alt-arts were also not from Mirrodin.

Argument could, admittedly go both ways.

Here's a comparable picture of another Planeswalker vs Planeswalker scene officially allowed by Wizards. Pretty much the same poses.

A noticeably stronger and barbaric male is "convincing" a physically weaker individual using choke-methods. However, this time, the victim is a male. Are we to assume that Koth wants to rape Venser? No. We assume that Koth wants to get his idea across and has anger problems.

With regards to the Garruk vs Liliana art, the image clearly indicates that Garruk is cursed and desperate yet exploiting the one clear advantage he still has: brute force. His anger is justified, his motives are justified, and his intent is justified.

This can easily be proven with a photograph.

The set isn't even out yet, so the odds of someone compiling an entire Intro Deck's worth of foils for a fabrication are slim. It'd likely be real.

    Quote from glassthegrey
The old axiom is that gold was a mechanic that RnD deemed too complex for the core set (a product that the slant to bring in new players). perhaps their stance on this has changed. gold in core sets would be interesting, however I don't see a 100% core set.
That is not at all what an 'axiom' means.

Either way, Nicol Bolas has been confirmed for Magic 2013 in multicolor form. Gold cards themselves are much less complicated than planeswalkers.

With the multicolor-heavy Ravnica coming up (also confirmed), gold cards in a core set would make a lot of sense.

Also, they could do new duals. That way people spend more money opening packs for a new cycle.
The Ravnica Duals are already in very high demand. There is no need for another dual-cycle.

    Quote from ultratog1028
    Ex:
    Neodual Island Swamp
    land-Island Swamp
CARDNAME Enters the battlefield tapped unless you exile a blue or black card from your hand.
That's awful. It grants you terrible card disadvantage and gives the Legacy/Vintage players more choice in land-type Duals in a format where tempo matters.

You'll be giving more stuff for Vintage/Legacy players and barely affecting the Modern/Standard format.

Meanwhile, Ravnica duals will still fetch a high price.

This is the opposite of what is needed.

    Island Turtle seems balanced.

Diregraf Ghoul shows that, in a color that doesn't get efficient creatures, CITP tapped is a reasonable drawback to having an efficient creature.

Island Turtle is a Phyrexian Walker with a mana ability that takes up your land drop and doesn't give you mana the turn it comes into play. It also doesn't perform Kraken Hatchling's best role as well: eating cheap haste creatures (Goblin Guide) and lightning bolts.

If Dryad Arbor can be a Memnite, this can be a Phyrexian Walker.
Now good luck balancing an Ornithopter land...

I'd really like some sweeper, I'm kinda in love with the interaction between Black Sun's Zenith and Geralf's Messenger tough, I'll really miss it...
The interaction isn't as solid as most would think. A Zenith for 3 would still kill a +1/+1 counter'd Messenger with no return.

Both of the cards you mentioned, let you search your library for a creature card, and put it onto the battlefield, which now can't happen. Perhaps you meant to say Green Sun's Zenith and Birthing Pod do nothing against Grafdigger's Cage
This is exactly the misconception I'm talking about.

Grafdigger's Cage says you cannot play (i.e. cast) cards from your library.

Zenith and Pod simply take the card and put them onto the battlefield. There is no 'casting' or 'playing'.

Cage does nothing against those two cards and others like it.

People need to reread Grafdigger's Cage again.

It does nothing against Green Sun's Zenith and Birthing Pod or any decks that let you search your library and put cards into play from it.

I don't like when they put trees in every swamp they print. Man swamps are not forests :D.

    Quote from Liriel
Ever seen a swamp? Most of them have a bunch of trees.
Swamps are, by definition, a wetland full of trees.

    Quote from Darksinger
However quite a few swamps are a mix water and forest, but yes traditionally people don't think of swamps being within a forest, but more like a marsh area.
A marsh is a marsh. A marsh is not a swamp.

  • posted a message on Official Guidance about PG-13 and NSFW
    Quote from Celsus1
My question is what qualifies as PG-13/NSFW. See the title of the thread.

PG-13 – Parents Strongly Cautioned – Some Material May Be Inappropriate For Children Under 13. These films may contain sex references, up to four uses of explicit language, drug innuendo, strong crude/suggestive humor, mature/political themes, moderately long horror moments and/or moderate action violence. There are usually no restrictions on non-sexual nudity. However, extreme bloodshed is rarely present. This is the minimum rating at which drug content is present; with the exception of Austin Powers and Click. Marijuana smoking is the only illegal drug use that can be depicted in a PG-13 film, with the exception of Forrest Gump, in which a brief scene depicts an actress snorting cocaine. While PG-13 films usually have more profanity than PG films, this is not necessarily the case. A film that is given a PG-13 rating due to profane language and/or racial insults is given this rating because it contains more of these elements than a PG rating would permit, or the film contains uses of stronger profanities than a PG would permit. A film rated PG-13 for "intense violence" is given this rating if blood is present in a violent way. The films Gremlins and Indiana Jones: Temple of Doom are well known as the movies that PG-13 was created for. In recent years, this rating has been used for the majority of American films released. Some films that have received a PG-13 rating have a director's cut with an R rating. Daredevil is just an example of this practice.[18]
    Emphasis mine.

    Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_picture_rating_system#United_States

Mentions of ******** are permissible. It's not vividly detailed or explicit.
Considering all the profanity is censored, it's also permissible.

    kpaca's rap is PG-13.

I question why you're so concerned about other people's posts. If you find it objectionable, report it and move on. An actual moderator will handle it. Starting an entire thread for the purpose of an indirect act of backseat moderation is questionable at best.

Additionally, why do you, Celsius1, sign your name as Harkius? It's rather rude to insult and make fun of Harkius's attention-seeking posting style.

EDIT: Apparently that word is censored. Pardon my language.

This thing sucks. It's significantly worse than almost all the other MTG apps. Those were made by people who knew what the players wanted/needed. They made sure the app worked properly and that it was as accessible as possible.

This release reeks of a corporate move to take advantage of the iOS and Android marketplaces.

It's a real shame that WOTC ran out the other apps, just to push this jank of a release.
If it's significantly worse than the other apps, then it won't run out the other apps.

If it's free, it's not a corporate move to run out the other apps.

If Wizards is just feeling like spending a decent amount of effort to make their own app and make it look nice... it's not 'taking advantage' of the marketplaces.

    Put away your tinfoil hat.
