great to hear it! For the Pauper tournys we do 5 bucks a person, and that adds 1.25 booster packs to the prize pool. we split the prize pool between 1st and 2nd with a 66/33 ratio. we try to host a monthly tourny at wades but we also hang out and play several times a week at various places. hope to see you on the 6th!

We have a group of pauper players in Levittown, PA. I try to organize a monthly event at Wade's Comic Madness. Is there any other players in the area?
Our next event will most likely be 11-06-2010, we play pauper with all vintage legal sets and Cranial Plating is banned.

Hey everyone, I saw this deck and knew I had to play it. I own 90% of if so I've been playing it on LackeyCCG with great results. I've beat Merfolk, Thresh, Zoo, and CounterTop Bant; I only lost to Dead Guy Ale so far! This is my list for now:
I really dig the deck. The helm combo is funny. It's not something people see often, and I've had to explain the interaction a few times. I think I won a game because my opponent had the force and could have used it but just didn't get the combo until it was too late. I think the full 4 wastelands is a bit much, and I want to get some Extirpates in the main. I'm thinking about dropping 1 waste and maybe 1 duress for the 2 Extirpates. Whats general verdict? - 1 duress, - 1 wastelate, +2 extirpate

the slash for 'zerk is very much worth it to tog; green also gives you Life from the Loam so you can recur wastelands, and more importantly, add cards to your yard. I also run Engineered Explosives, Umezawa's Jitte, and Academy Ruins for sick Gifts Ungivens: Loam + Waste + Ruins + EE, Loam + Ruins + Jitte + EE, Loam, Tog, Volrath's Stronghold, Waste).
I play UGb Madness with tog. but the strategies are the same.

Heres me list for a quick idea:

I wanted to run cunning wish + berserk, but decided against it because a 3 mana minimum for wish responses seems too much so it was dead until I pumped tog for the win.

My girlfriends been playing BDW since we sar I take 2nd at gencon 2008. Our list isn't too far off from yours.

price of progress is easly the best card in he deck; I don't understand why some people don't play it in BDW. We're maindecking 2 sushers to help the counter balance and stax g1. The STD cards are our most recent additions. Bushwacker is alright but steppe is a king. Our board veries depending on the venue, we got 4 mindbreak traps and 4 canonists for our local shop becuase everyone plays combo there. But more 3cc artifact/enhantment hate for more control And tax metas

Forlong egoist, do you feel like dev dreams and valakut at counter synergic? I also feel like too much of you deck is dedicated to the valakut package. Ive seen alot of the new valakut build still manage to fit in rishadan ports which are one of the big nuts and bolts for this deck. I think 12 would be more than enough to put valakut online so you could probobly drop the shocks and 1 valakut to get them in. Obv Tabernacle would be great but I understand what they are going for these days, but if you play competativly, it's well worth it in this deck. I would look for a way to at fit Mishra's Factory in also. They would give you a recuring creature. And if dredge is your concern: tap fractory to animate itself and wasteland it in responce to bridge tokens going on the stack. Your creature goes to the yard first so they get no tokens. And if they dread Iona, maze it til you get answers. Hope I helped!

This is my build for 40 something Lands

I choose Burning Wish over Intuition from several reasons. In play testing, I did not like waiting for turn 3 to dump my hand of lands into Manabond because I had an Intuition in hand. I feel like wishing for loam gets me where quicker. I can also wish for answers to moon effects. I'm testing the new Tormod's land in the deck; I saw someone doing it on deckcheck and thought it was an alright idea. My local store does legacy on Saturday nights with around 15 to 20 players a week, and out of those players, something like 3 play ANT. As a result, I'm packing mindbreaks. When I play at higher level events, I do 2 traps and 2 COTV. I'm generally happy with it. I roll pretty much all the blue control decks, 50-50 with stax, Zoo, and Ichorid. Hard match ups are ANT, Belcher(if they belch and not empty), and Moon Stompy. Burn and Boros Deck Wins are annoying because they MD Price of Progress, I can deal with that games 2 and 3, but I lose a lot of those game 1s, so I have to win 2 and 3 for that round.

This is my current vintage deck:

    8 plains
    2 swamp
    3 wasteland
    1 strip mine
    4 mox diamond
    1 mox pearl
    1 mox jet
    1 mox ruby
    1 sol ring
    1 black lotus

    4 landtax
    4 scroll rack

    3 ethersworn canonist
    3 dark confidant
    4 aven mindsensor

    4 aura of silence
    2 orim's chant
    2 abeyance
    2 path to exile
    1 sensei divining top
    1 enlightened tutor
    1 demonic tutor
    1 vampiric tutor
    1 trinisphere
    1 crucibal of worlds
    1 zuran orb
    1 tormods crypt
    1 balance

    sideboard
    2 orims chant
    2 abeyance
    1 path to exile
    2 tormods crypt
    2 moat
    3 null rod
and I have 3 open sb slots I toy with.

In vintage, I love the deck. I keep the game under control through aura, chant, abeyance, canonist, 3sphere, and mindcensor. Tax rack dies provide my primary means if advantage, but Bib definatly helps. While I'm controling, I knock down life totals with my 2/1s. This is a good strategy for vintage since most decks run 3 or 4 creatures tops. Legacy is a whole other ballpark. And with creature heavy decks, you get burn heavy decks as well. The loss of power, sol ring, balance, demonic, and vampiric would be a big consideration as well.

I would advise a black splash for Bob. He gives my a secondry means of advantage. As for a win condition, I always liked Sacred Mesa, but Luminarch Asension could be good if you keep you opponent at bay well enough.

  • posted a message on Evershrike ... I know, but hear me out
My buddy played his casual evershrike deck at a big legacy tourny(50 something people) a few months back. He knew he wouldn't do well, but every played got a grab bag with random promos, deck boxes, playmate, and binders worth the cost of the tourny so he just played for s&g. Well he ended up going 3-3 and beating goblins, stax, and thresh. Those decks just had nothing for him, and probobly look at him like a fool, until he rolled them. I don't have his exact decklist on hand, but I redesigned it hoping to pull the same effect: unprepared and underestimated.

    Marsh flats 4
    Bloodstained mire 2
    Windswept Heath 2
    Plains 4
    Swamp 4
    Mishra's factory 3

    Evershrike 4
    Rancor 4
    Spirit loop 4

    Wrath of god 4
    Damnation 4
    N. Disk 2

    Purity 2
    Fulminater mage 4
    Duress 4
    Rancid earth 3
    null rod 2
    dark ritual 4

I just made this list out today, so I havnt played it out once myself. I did watch his round against Canadian thresh at the tourny. Thresh has 8 dudes. And sure they got counters. But counter balance is pretty much usesless against 4cc ***s, and they only got 4 fow. We got 10 ***s. Wastelands useless, short of factory, were all basic. I will start playtesting this myself on Lackeyccg in the near future. If people seem interested, I'll keep posting how I'm doing. If my friend comes to any events with me, big or just the weekly events, I'll post his results too. Thanks for reading.

I love madness. I played it in every format! No joke. Ody-Ons Standard and extended I played UG. I splashed black and run Survival, Bazaars, and Squee in T1.

    Heres my current legacy build:
    Wild Mongrel 4
    Psychatog 4
    Basking Rootwalla 4
    Arrogant Wurm 3
    Wonder 2

    Brainstorm 4
    Force of Will 4
    Circular Logic 4
    Ponder 3
    Stifle 3
    Gifts Ungiven 2
    Life from the Loam 1
    Umezawa's Jitte 2

    Misty Rainforest 4
    Polluted Delta 3
    Tropical Island 3
    Underground Sea 2
    Bayou 2
    Island 1
    Forest 1
    Swamp 1
    Volrath's Stronghold 1
    Wasteland 2

Gifts is sick in the deck. I Gifts for Loam, Wasteland, Wonder, and whatever else I need. My only real wish is to fit a single Academy Ruins in so I can Gifts for Loam, Ruins, and Jitte. Doesn't matter what you choose, Im getting Jitte. I might drop a Wonder for a Genesis also. I go black because I have a soft spot for 'Tog and it gives me some better SB options, namely Thoughtsieze and Extirpate.

I play competitive Madness/Tog in legacy. 'Tog, Wonder, Mongrel, Rootwalla, and Wurm are my only dudes in the deck. I'm totally going to start calling my deck The Electric Mayhem.

I did not do any of these cards. These are all cards done for me by friends of mine.

My friend Adam made this, and when my girlfriend started playing Zoo, he gave it to her.

This is something I saw online and always wanted, so I handed my friend James Frazier a sharpie and said draw on 'em for me since my drawings look like a 4 year old did 'em. This is what he handed back to me.

Dr Teeth from the Electric Mayhem! Also done by James. We Might try to make Wild Mongrel into Animal, Wonder into Janice, Arrogant Wurm into Sgt FLoyd Pepper, and Basking Rootwalla into Zoot.

This one is showing my age. It's just a jump to the left . . .Also done by James.
